I’ve had this camera for at least 3-4 years maybe , and this video is FINALLY the one I’ve been looking for to get the settings and pictures I want out of my nikon p900
OMG! I have had this camera for 2 years. I have just watched 2 of your videos and learned So much in just a few minutes....stuff I hadn't figured out on my own in 2 years! Thank you :)
I don't usually comment on videos. But this was so so helpful. I took so many blurry pics trying to capture movement shots. And with your instructions, I tested it and it went great. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. This video helped me even though I'm using the p520. The high shutter speed will be great for airshows. The only problem I have with setting the shutter speed around 400 is that, the pictures turn into a darkish green color.
Hi, if you are already using the Nikon Coolpix P900, you should know that you can't change the settings during video recording. The only thing that you can change is the video resolution and the fps, I always suggest the 1080p 60fps if you want a nice resolution and more smooth footage. Then to record airplanes and you need use the zoom I suggest to use a tripod. Depend how much you need zoom.
Fabio Segatori How about taking photos of planes? What would you suggest for that? For example: taking a photo but not having it completely freeze a spinning propeller, but taking it to show some blur that the propeller is moving and not just hanging in space
Thank you. I hope this helps with volleyball and bird photography! How do I change the "F" setting that is next to the shutter speed? You have it set F4. I can't figure out how to change mine from F2.8.
Hello Sheila, F is the aperture, and if you are on S (Shutter Speed Prioroty) you can control and change only the shutter speed, the aperture or F will be adjusted by the camera. If you want control both aperture and the shutter speed you have to set the camera on Manual Mode, and rotate the dial on M position... In A (Aperture Priority) you have the total control of the aperture F, but the shutter speed will be adjusted by the camera. You have to spend sometime and become familiar with the different modes and settings.
Hello, thanks for your video, but I probably do it bad because my pics are blurry when I zoom and the focus doesn’t want to work, Have you an answer please ? Thank you.
hey Fabio, I'm trying to take pictures of marine life (dolphins, whales) from the distance. are these settings ok for that kind of photography? I usually have to zoom in because I shoot dolphins and whales from cliffs. What would you recommend? Thank you for your videos! They are very helpful!
Hello Julia, I watched your videos and I really love them. To answer your question, never use the maximum zoom, as you will lose the quality and the sharpness if you dont use a tripod. You can get very close to the subject even just using the half or 2/3 of the zoom. Every camera and lens is at its best when not zooming. For the settings, try the Auto Mode first, and if you have lots of light available switch on Shutter Priority. But I am sure the Nikon will do a great job in Auto Mode. If you are really interested in wildlife and marine photography, I really suggest you to get the Sony a7iii with the Sony lens 100 - 400mm, and you will have lots of fun with that.
Yes at the moment Sony has the best mirrorless on the market. Go for a full frame camera, the a7iii has an amazing autofocus and different utofocus options that are very helpful. There are also the a7riii and the 7siii but believe me the a7iii is the most sold and popular. You can also make fantastic videos with that.
Hi, remember that to take photos you always need a light source, no light no photos. In a poor light situation you need use an aperture at f/2.8 and a low shutter speed. Becasue the shutter speed is low you need a tripod. You can also use the presets from the Nikon, go to Scene, and choose Party/Indoor or Dask/Down.

when applying these settings in S mode, the camera also applies them to all the other modes (P A M U). any idea how to just keep theses settings in S mode? the manual does not say if this is possible
Hello Mitchie, if you wanna keep all the settings you chose, like a specific shutter speed, aperture, focus mode and continuous shooting, you have to save that on U (User) Go on Menu, and from Shooting Mode, scroll down and select Save User Settings, now all your settings are saved, everytime you turn the Dial Mode on U. I really hope this is the right answer to your question, if not, give me some more detail.
@@boxmedias hi yes i understand that. i was wondering why you chose to set it up like this under the S setting because that makes all the other settings the same
Because on S you have to set only the shutter speed, the camera will set automatically all the rest to get the right exposure. This is a fast way to take a picture of a moving subject and you dont have time to set the aperture and the ISO. If you have a static subject you will have time to set everything on M (manual mode)
Thank you so much for the videos about the nikon coolpix 900. I have learned more so much about it.And i will use it in another way. Can you also make a video about the coolpix 900 making makro photos?I still have trouble with that on this camera?
hi I really need help!!!! I did everything in this video but when i take a picture it’s EXTREMELY pixelated, looks like the picture was taken on an iphone 2. And it’s dark as well. please help me
Hello Arthuro, I dont think the firmware is the problem. Are you using a uv or any filter attached to the lens? Try to take some picture to a close subject without zoom and with autofocus, do that outdoor with sunlight.
Let me know how is going, and send me some example of the photos you did, you can upload them on google drive and send me the link, so I can see the settings properly.
Hi I’m trying to set the shutter speed so I can do photos on propeller blur and water blur, I have used the settings that you show on the above video however I’m having to change the settings because of the amount of light entering the camera and also I’m not getting the blur I’m looking for, any advice on how to set the camera for these types of photos will be greatly appreciated. Fabio Segatori how can i contact you directly? I need to send you photos and ask about it... i really don't know how to explain it.. by sending you the photos it would be more easy..thank you
Do you mean after the shot? As I said in my previous videos, the Nikon Coolpix need lots of light to get best results. If you want use the shutter speed function, you need be sure there is a good light source around you, sun light, outdoor. Set ISO in auto and try again.
The Coolpix works properly if there is a lot of light, if you push the right side of the dial with the ok in the middle you can increase or decrease the exposure... Is that what you mean?
The Nikon Coolpix P900 is not a DSLR camera, I am sure that you can lock the esxposure only in video mode, not with photo. But I would like you will let me know if you find the solution

And then I open the folder of my sd card and copy and paste in my computer. Give more details. Did you check if there are videos in your camera when you press the play button?
With the P900 you have an amazing zoom in a small camera, perfect for travel and record videos. So 60x for the B700 and 83x for the P900, 83x is like a 2000mm lens... With a large zoom you have more fun. And the quality of the videos is amazing if there is enough light for the sensor. If you are more interested to make photos with quality and you want be more independent with the light, I suggest to buy a Dslr. But go back to your previous question, the P900 is the best choice, few hundreds dollars more but you will have a good camera.
For image quality you talking about both Photos and Videos? The best thing that you can do is try both cameras, bring with you a sd card and make photos with both camera using the same settings, then go home and look the photos. But if you already know that the B700 has a better image quality I believe you. But the Nikon P900 became so popular and there is still a huge demanding even after few years that is on the market.
