JB Weld might have worked better but hopefully you don't find yourself in this situation again haha. I once drove from Idaho to South Dakota and back with a slow sidewall leak, filling it everytime we stopped. It was the middle of winter and certainly worrisome but mine was holding air much longer than yours and we made it back (and exchanged the tire). Glad you made it too!
You may find a compatible truck or tractor-size inner tube for the future as a safety standby if you don’t replace all four wheels. Uninflated takes up minimal space. Still will need a tire shop to install if the need arises - or just put tubes in the tires with the remaining old wheels for now. The remaining old wheels are liable to fail structurally and should be replaced.
always bring JB weld! that would probably work on the outside of the rim to stop it leaking.. great for any leaks too if the worst happened and you smashed up a DIFF or oil pan etc..

I can so relate to your situation where you ask yourself when to pull out the camera and when not. I love climbing (bouldering) outside with my friends and capturing just the good moments we have there. What helped for me then was to a.) tell them what i want to accomplish with my filming and b.) try not to be sneaky, but more subtle with your filming :) That has helped me a ton! time to start carrying two or three spare tires on that roof rack. And upgrade that compressor from a cigarette lighter power supply to a beefier one that takes 120v You might need an adaptor but it's a 4x faster setup - It also might have been a good idea to look on Facebook marketplace for used tires while you're in whatever town..
Nuke Trading - I would definitely consider getting the Canon M50 over the T7i. IMO the only negative of the M50 is that you'll need an adapter to use EF or EF-S lenses. (I use the Vello brand adapter. Only $60 vs Canon's $200.) Obviously I don't know how you plan on using your camera, but I love the compact size and weight of the M50. Plus is has better specs in a few areas, like the newer Digic 8 chip.
Check out the last couple vids on my channel they were shot with the t7i and a gimbal! Let me know what you think of them and I think you should go for the t7i or m50 because of having to use an adapter and there really aren't many native lenses for the m50

I have two Sprinters that I am going to customize similar to yours..I spent 5 years on the road in my Sprinter coast to coast doing Hot Shot driving.. Anyhow.. I ordered a set of wheels for my 3500 for just $75 each from an ebay seller of course it takes longer to get them..the wheels were like brand new tho so it was a good deal.. where the dealer wanted over $200 a piece.. I do have a 16 inch rim with tire that you can have off of my 2004 2500 if that will work for you.. if you havent found a replacement wheel yet. I have a little house here in Mt Pleasant where I take care of my elderly folks, teach Kung fu and Reiki and make Laser stuff for an Etsy store. I'd be glad to host you here for a night or two as you are exploring.. Good luck driving with that leaky rim.. I feel your pain.
The same thing happened to the wheels on my trailer several years ago. I went to a welding shop, they put a bead around the area and it STILL is holding up 10 years later.............

You really need to get a better portable compressor. When you get the new rim / tire, you need to look at what that looks like. WOW. Take the tier off the van and let that stuff get to the holes. What was the phone that guy was playing with near the beginning of this video in Portland?
Fix your kit sooner, not later. If that's steel, you can weld the issue closed. If it is aluminum, then tig it. Sorted. This is a new problem for you, so look at it as its own adventure, cause that's what problems really are. Adventures. Two things: learn about welding/metal work. Add a 12 plug to your van, so you don't have to pop the hood to use your air compressor.
I do weld. I built the Van's bumper and roof rack, I dont carry a welder on road trips. I have 6 12v plugs in the van. The pump pulls a lot of continuous amps and the cord gets hot. In my old build I've melted the plastic 12v outlets from long pump useage. Attaching directly to starter battery works great
@@Levi_Allen Yeah, I remembered that later. If your rims are leaking, weld them shut. Even a torch and solder would plug the leak. Dare it even: JB Weld. Also, because your air compressor is high amps (low Volts), I'd run a thick outlet front and back, now that a use for that has arisen. If I can stay out of the engine bay, I'm happy about it. Life is better when you make stuff. :-) By the way, there is a point in which too much patience is too much patience. I'd have "failed" those wheels when I found out the problems, and held tight until they got fixed. But ordering new rims wasn't the answer, in my opinion, welding them was. Clean the area, seam it up, clean the area, prime and paint. Done. Thanks again, we need your videos in Tampa, Florida! They're as close as were going to get to Winter.
Tire place did you a disservice. Could have patched that wheel somehow from inside. Craigslist, Marketplace, junkyards are all good places to look for wheels.

I had a wheel with pin holes in it. I took it to my local welding shop and had it welded. That stopped the leak. The next trip the wheel split. Apparently the weld made the wheel more brittle. I took it to another welding shop. They said for liability reasons they would not weld wheels.
Weldopedia. shops were closed on Saturday unfortunately . And new holes were opening up all over the wheel and on multiple wheels. It would’ve been a great temp fix for sure

@@Levi_Allen I have had damaged wheels (bent in a car accident) that I hammered back into shape and used until the insurance company paid for a new wheel. It was fine, didn't even vibrate at highway speeds. I expect on the wheel that was welded the welding process hardened the steel in that area (perhaps it should have been annealed after welding). About 100 miles down the rode I hit a pot hole a the wheel split along side of the weld. My leak was along side of the area where the bead of the tire sets in the wheel so it was a different failure mode than yours.

Rusting from the inside? Water vapor when filling condensates with time and sitting water can rust inside much like air compressor tanks. Might look into all four wheels and I’ll look into mine as well yikes!
I realize this is a moot comment and this suggestion is long passed helpful, but don't you keep a can of fix-a-flat foam with you? vs that slime. That stuff is great for filling little pin-hole type leaks temporarily and will get you much farther down the road. I always keep a can in my vehicle for such an emergency, and it has saved me more than once over that last 20 years or so.
Surely the tyre place could have wound a strip of gaffer tape around the rim where the seam is? ...it looks to be in the valley of the rim so shouldn't have interfered with the fitment of the tyre. Just a temp fix till you met up with the new wheel.
For sure this would have helped. at the time the wheel was holding air for 6+ hours so it didn't seem necessary. IT got worse and worse the longer I drove

Isn't the slime for leaks in the rubber? Your leak looks to be in the rim. Some semi rigid epoxy forced in from outside could have been faster (Just a wild idea, not tested). Or finding some place willing to weld some along it, could require rebalancing thou. Anyhow, just my speculations. I hope it got solved in a good, and not too expensive, way.

Buy new wheels, problem solved. MTBF, everything more or less has MTBF, radiator hoses, hearts, shock absorbers, hip joints, transmissions, knees, window seals, rusty old steel wheels. Cold weather has affect on materials, then add years of use and the problems will present them selfs.
You showed patience and perseverance - right on. I should have noticed before how male your audience is! I reckon that the women (like me) are a can do adventurous bunch. Would I have the patience for this - i guess so - but it's not an expectation for women... good fodder for talking around the bonfire.
What a pain in the butt. Could you pick up a wheel/tire that is the same size at a junkyard and use that until you get your matching replacement? Who cares what it looks like as long as you don't have to stop every 10 minutes.
We actually tried that. T1n sprinter vans have an uncommon wheeel size. In the video you can hear the tire guy calling a few local wreckers asking about wheels. The closest was 8 hours in the wrong direction and they were asking 180 for it
@@Levi_Allen $180 holy crap I thought that was for a new on.. 5x130 pcd. I'm in the UK and we have sikaflex I think I would have taken the tyre off and run a very heavy bead of that around the world if I was in a pinch Are you all sorted now?
I don’t feel like I need to explain again in the comments something that I say multiple times in the video. The tire shop did not have replacement wheels for me. I had two wheels that were leaking so my spare was useless

The compressor I have works fantastic. No compressor is going to be effective when your losing 10psi per minute

JB Weld my man! They have the epoxy or a paste type that hardens. I used some on a radiator leak I had in an emergency, worked perfectly.

Buy new wheels, problem solved. MTBF, everything more or less has MTBF, radiator hoses, hearts, shock absorbers, hip joints, transmissions, knees, window seals, rusty old steel wheels. Cold weather has affect on materials, then add years of use and the problems will present them selfs.
Can't buy new wheels if no tire shop has them in stock and it's the weekend ; )

Would I have the patience for this - i guess so - but it's not an expectation for women... good fodder for talking around the bonfire.
What a pain in the butt. Could you pick up a wheel/tire that is the same size at a junkyard and use that until you get your matching replacement? Who cares what it looks like as long as you don't have to stop every 10 minutes.

I would have had a look on craigslist or eBay for a spare wheel and then just take it to a tyre shop and get the rubber changed over
We actually tried that. T1n sprinter vans have an uncommon wheeel size. In the video you can hear the tire guy calling a few local wreckers asking about wheels. The closest was 8 hours in the wrong direction and they were asking 180 for it
@@Levi_Allen $180 holy crap I thought that was for a new on.. 5x130 pcd. I'm in the UK and we have sikaflex I think I would have taken the tyre off and run a very heavy bead of that around the world if I was in a pinch

I don’t feel like I need to explain again in the comments something that I say multiple times in the video. The tire shop did not have replacement wheels for me. I had two wheels that were leaking so my spare was useless
