Correct, Takara Tomy (the official licensee for the board game in Japan since the 60s), has made these since the 90s, on all sorts of systems from the Super Famicom all the way to the Wii, and after skipping a console generation, eventually the Switch. It has a lot more charm to it than the three GOL games that were created outside of Japan. The types of career choices you have in Jinsei Game are varied in comparison to GOL, as your choices range from being a writer, manga artist, or even a superhero/supervillain, and some of the situations you get in will revolve around what career you picked. The game also has an angel/devil mechanic, where an angel will guide you through the game giving you helpful tips along the way, and some nice money bonuses depending on how far you are in the game, and a devil who can take another player's money/knowledge points. Unfortunately, unless you know Japanese, playing these games is quite difficult, but if you have a bunch of friends who can speak the language, they're really fun games to play. I hope maybe one day, there will be enough interest in these games that a fan translation team translates them, or a version of them gets localized outside of Japan. The only version that has ever been translated so far is the RPG version on the Famicom called "RPG Jinsei Game", but besides that, nobody has ever translated these games, likely because there is a lack of interest in playing Japanese board game video games that aren't Mario Party.
