@@katiesbeenyarnified Bridget is great! One of these days, I'm going to buy one of her beautiful bags. I'm so glad you are learning to knit! Once you know the knits and purls, you're good to go! I definitely crochet more, but I bust out the knitting needles, too. I love making smaller projects with knitting, like hats, headbands, ear warmers and baby blankets. Oooh, tough to pick a favorite yarn. I mostly use plant yarns and acrylic yarns. I guess cotton blends are probably my favorite.
@@kerripedersen9542 omg yes, I think cotton might be my favorite too and I am bound and determined to learn how to spin it! Figures that my favorite fiber would have to be one of the most difficult to spin. Lol. I’ll have to keep you in mind when I do finally learn so you can help me test it out!

The wool from Bella is beautiful! The 'tuss-a' Tussah silk is so shiny and the denim blue is fun! Your spins are always so smooth. You are right, in the beginning we tend to make 'rope' and we are disappointed, until we can make lace weight and when we can't make rope we get disappointed. LOL The green one is pretty too! Congrats on your 100+ subscribers! 🎊 Oh wow the nylon is cool! I've never tried that! It looks so pretty! The grey with the firestar is so awesome! It looks holographic! Hi Katie! I'm so happy that you love your fiber! I tried so hard to give you navy blue! If you plan on dyeing your own fiber, I suggest wetting the fiber completely, letting it soak in lots of dye, and sometimes it still washes out. Trial and error, that's what I've done 😄 I love how it is turning out! Congrats on 100 subscribers! 💙🎉

Silk is one of my favorite fibers, soft (as long as not raw), shinny sheen, wonderful to wear all year long. 😊 I'm not a spinner, although I do have an electric spinner and several drop spindles of several types. @@katiesbeenyarnified DGY (Darn Good Yarn) has banana yarn and has had rooving (I think), I tend to pick up what is new - to me, been around quite a while so not much new... Sewing is quicker, knitting learned when 5 but it is not a quick make for me, have a triangle loom (shawls), and most recently a small floor loom. It seems I am most into acquiring fiber of all sorts (fabric, yarn, rooving, have felted- better than spinning- , even took a couple of classes this year, natural dying of sheep/lamb skin, and paper making)...
I didn’t know that DGY had different fibers like that, I will have to check out their website so I can drool over stuff I’d like to try someday! Lol weaving is not something I have done before but I am absolutely fascinated by it! I find it mesmerizing to watch people weave. Whenever you do decide to try out the drop spindle, a channel that really helped me is called SpinningSara.
Oh! And paper making sounds amazing, that’s something else that’s been on my life to try!
@@katiesbeenyarnified Checked DGY and they have banana fiber yarn, several years ago they had banana rooving, which I have a small amount of, very shiny, looks like a cloud, but definitely has a unique/feel or hand.

When I started spinning on a drop spindle all I could do was thick yarn and wanted to do thin, and now on my wheel I am able to do thin but can't do thick... LoL 😂🤣. @@katiesbeenyarnified I don't know, I will have to go back and check. Favorite Yarn: Thryss in Stitches Hand Dyed Yarn. But I do use a lot of Cotton, Cotton-Acrylic mix. Like the 24/7. Also, anything soft, glittery or sparkly.. Altho i did discover that over a 5 wt yarn is harder for me to work with since i have arthritis in my hands.
Thryss’s yarn is sooooo soft and squishy!!! I can see why it would be a favorite! The first and only yarn of hers I’ve tried was her Pink Lemonade colorway, omg, I couldn’t resist!!! I definitely plan on getting more in the future! I also loooove cotton or any cotton blend. Well, I haven’t tried a cotton linen blend but I love cotton acrylic and cotton and wool. I totally agree with you, I have a harder time working with bulkier yarns. Arthritis in your hands has got to be so difficult when you enjoy working with your hands so much! Have you had to take long breaks or have you had surgery before? I feel like I remember seeing that at one point but I might be mistaken.
@@katiesbeenyarnified The surgery that I was SUPPOSE to get, was on a different part of my body. But due to a "discovered" heart issue, it was postponed. I still need knee replacement, but that is in the future on a "smaller" me.. LOL. (nice way to say I have to loose more weight first. I've lost close to 200 lbs, but this surgeon basis his guidelines on BMI instead of a weight scale.) And I do take breaks, depending on what I'm making determines the time needed to recover.
Congrats on losing the 200lbs! Vicki, that is incredible!! And incredibly hard to know, believe me I know! Very proud of you!
