Indian english is a mixture of both American and British English. Its more like 90% british and 10% american pronunciations in Indian English but we write 100% British english. Frankly, Indian English does differ a little from british in the sense that we can clearly pronounce each character without putting emphasis on any sound due to our Hindi/any other indian language background.

I think India has played bigger role in propagating English. Highest number of English speakers after USA are in India. Before liberalisation era, speaking English was like a status symbol. But now it is like any other national language here. One good thing is that Indians have no inhibition in speaking English in whatever way they feel is easier for them. In contrast to 90s, speaking English in India with flaws is considered quite normal. So can we say India is next English capital of world.
