The law is about labeling ngos as "foreign agents".
They can say anyone is a "foreign agent".
This can later be used to supress them. For example in Russia, they prohibited any "foreign agent" to take part in elections.
Its an anti-democratic law.

Geographically speaking, Georgia is not even part of Europe. The Greater Caucasus Range separates Europe from Asia in the area between the Black and Caspian seas. Almost all Georgian territory lies south of this divide. EU membership should be out of the question.
Culturally Georgian people are much more similar to Europe than Asia. Georgia has nothing in common with Asian countries. And btw, Georgia has a candidate status of EU, not to mention that Georgian Football team is on EuroLeague and Georgia has been participating in Eurovision for many years, actually even won one.

it's not about influence. it's a weapon in hands of anti-Western government to silence anyone that opposes them. Thats what Putin did in Russia in 2012 by introducing similar law that was only for "transparency". Later they added new paragraphs to that "transparency" law and criminalized being an agent. A few days ago they restricted anyone who is registered as foreign agent to participate in elections. That's what we do not want, not transparency or foreign influence
The law is similar to one in Russia,which is why their is a issue. Even minimal amount of funding from abroad could label you as a traitor in future / shut down any opposition etc
Its not only funding transparency, problem is that anyone who receives more than 20% of funding from abroad will be registered as foreign agents and can be easily arrested, or their work might be shut down
