Love watching your videos here in the UK Bruce, you get straight to the point and don't waffle on or have a dog barking at your mowers each time they start or even a kid doing the camera work. Keep up the great videos Bruce.
Seriously Bruce I've watched plenty of lawnmower repair videos from British guy's and a few others from around the world and they go on and on about completely irrelevent information about their dog or cat or Mrs Jones down the road etc, one guy had his youngster filming and the kid was all over the place, made unpleasent viewing. You get straight to the point and get on with the job making it interesting and informative viewing.. Just bought myself a Haynes small engine repair manual and it shows in there how to build your own sparkplug tester with a piece of wood 2 nails and 2 alligator clips. I do have a tester but fancy making this one as it clips and sits rigid on a bolt on the engine when using it and not moving all over the place like the factory built ones. Oh by the way, I live about 4 miles away from Haynes workshop manuals publishing. company here in the UK.. Keep up the great videos.
We have a Haynes hamlet (village) about 10 km's from here. Many towns were name from the "oldcountry" at many train stops. Maybe the name is after a famous Haynes who knows.
The manuals were first published in 1960 by J. H. Haynes & Co. Limited, it was founded on 18 May 1960 he was awarded an OBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his work. He also founded the Haynes motor museum both are still in business today. The name Haynes I see goes back as far as 1594 here in the UK. To be fair to the manuals I bought one when I was restoring a Citroen C15 campervan and without it I'd have been lost.
GOOD LOOKING SIR LACED ME UP WIT GAME JUST BY WATCHING SOME OF UR VIDEOS ALREADY REPAIRED 3 LAWNMOWERS. ONLY THING I HAVEN'T GOT DOWN IS THE FLYWHEEL KEY. I KNOW WHAT THE SYMPTOMS ARE, JUST NOT SURE IF THE TOP PART IS SUPPOSED TO BE FLUSH WIT THE FLYWHEEL NUT.
That must be what's wrong with mine. It takes 20 pumps on the bulb before it starts. This is my last Briggs and Stratton, it doesn't even have an oil drain. Back in the day I bought a used B&S at a yard sale and used it 35 years before selling it. All metal. I put several sets of wheels on it and a couple throttle controls, blades and spark plugs. It had an oil bath air filter so no element to replace.
Well I went searching for this problem. Coincidentally, I have the same 5hp Briggs! Always started first pull after every winter for years, now its 6-8 hard pulls (and the primer feels soft - that leaky gasket). THANKS FOR THE FIX BRUCE!!
I’m sure you’re aware that there is a Briggs & Stratton starter clutch wrench part number 19244 and you can buy one on Amazon for about $16. I’m sure you probably know about it but it’s really nice to have. I was Head Mechanic at mower shop for years. Works great with a breaker bar or an impact wrench. I inspire you to get one. It keeps you from breaking the housing on the starter clutch as well. Take care Geary
Excellent, the only advice for filming wise i would give is to have some better lighting as it was pretty hard to see some things but as you said you only had a short amount of time to do it. Apart from that though it's brilliant.
Mine takes about (4) pulls today. I will check for that squirt of gas and if it’s not there, I’ll replace this little gasket. I had another mower in which I replaced the little push bulb because it had wore out, but the new machine’s bulb feels strong and it still seems to have a bit of suction.
Great video. I keep forgetting to check to see if primer bulb is actually squirting in gas. Oh and by the way the ducks seem to have taken up residency here and did not just fly through. I will try to send them your way. Very small ducks must be as they must be fast and very hard to see. But I know they are there because I can hear them.

Thanks for responding, yes I did clean the bowl nut. I just tried a new new plug just in case and it's still the same. If I keep priming it it will keep running so I'm assuming that isolates the issue to fuel delivery. Let me know what you think. My thought at this point is to try another carb. I'm assuming since it runs fine when I keep pushing the primer that I can eliminate the coil or timing issue with the fly wheel, etc.
Hi Bruce. Have a Briggs mower with same primer setup but I can't get the bulb to make that squirt of gas that you show at 8:30. Have a new bulb, bulb housing clean, emulsion tube clear (carb has been cleaned in ultrasonic) ... and it runs great after it is started. But it takes 6 or 7 pulls to get it going. Yes I have. Have you replaced the gasket 795629 at 6:34 . That is the key. if that doesn't help try 2 yes 2!!! of the gaskets as the plastic housing warps and 2 of those takes up the variance in the warped plastic.

interesting how such a small piece of pretty much paper can mess up a lawnmower...ive taken apart soem lawnmowers to fix and soem dont even have gaskets...and they still work its odd...im not an expert as ive just taken it up as a hobby for myself ive fixed i think 4 out of 4 but i got my moms today and for seom reason i cant even get it to start..i cleaned the carberator and everything and prime it and it still wont start...the carberator on this one is different than others ive seen theres also no spring in the carberator not sure why that is...but it refuses to start for soem reason ill give it a bette rlooking over tomorrow...the fuel line going from teh carberator to teh filter might be clogged but that fuel like is right in the carberator which is also odd as others ive disected dont ..it slike its almost part of the carberator ..ive also see mowers that dont have the one fuel line connected only the intake fuel line the other does not...idk what thats about maybe just overflow? idk i had a leaf blower and it had 2 fueld lines and another fuel line in there with the ball on it i guess mowers are different...but yeah soem lawnmowers i find dont have gaskets but still work if its air tight i gues sit doesnt matter..but i have one mower thats suppose to have auto choke but it doesnt work the thing that the metal stick is attached to i broke seom cheap plastic peace now its doesnt open and close as the mower needs it will stay wide open leaving the carberator wide open taking in too much fuel then it revs up like its going to explode..the mower itself works but thats the only problem it has idk what the part is called or where to get it..its attached to teh carberator i hate to think i have to buy a whole new carberator for a 5 cent piece of plastic.

While this video was helpfully inspiring, what I think is "younger" guys can really take away from it is that your garage is too clean and organized. How can you expect to dig around for half an hour trying to find your old tooth brush ?Or try to find somewhere to dump the old oil out of your cleaning tray that you left in after your last repair when you started a leak you didn't expect? You're too efficient. I find it boastful... Haha

@@BrucesShop I put 2 different coils and I'm not getting enough spark I checked the fly wheel key and no damage to the key what else could it be? I also changed the spark plugs several times
@@BrucesShop yup it was the ignition coil went through several coils I guess they were all bad
could ya tell me were ya got that lift cart man i need one of those
A video is the easiest way to explain.

Small Engine Kohler on a Toro recycler front wheel drive self-propelled overhead valve 6.75 149cc I have an issue with recoil the Old Spring broke cannot find replacement part motor runs good do you have any ideas
First what kind of motor is it. Then google that. Like Briggs and stratton recoil etc;
Where did you get that lift from
ruclips.net/video/yv7FtFWRHaU/видео.html
What happens if the motor on the push mower won't turn with the sparkplug in, but does when its it's out? What can cause that?
It may be full of gas or fluid. Turn it over fast without the spark plug. If not it may be a sheared flywheel key causing compression when there shouldn't be any.
How did you know it's THAT gasket that needed to be changed? A mower with bad gas or who knows what else won't start either.
I wasn't priming. See it at point 8:31 in the video.
The gasket ripped when you pulled that part off

They have them in the U.S. at Harbor Freight.
interesting how such a small piece of pretty much paper can mess up a lawnmower...ive taken apart soem lawnmowers to fix and soem dont even have gaskets...and they still work its odd...im not an expert as ive just taken it up as a hobby for myself ive fixed i think 4 out of 4 but i got my moms today and for seom reason i cant even get it to start..i cleaned the carberator and everything and prime it and it still wont start...the carberator on this one is different than others ive seen theres also no spring in the carberator not sure why that is...but it refuses to start for soem reason ill give it a bette rlooking over tomorrow...the fuel line going from teh carberator to teh filter might be clogged but that fuel like is right in the carberator which is also odd as others ive disected dont ..it slike its almost part of the carberator ..ive also see mowers that dont have the one fuel line connected only the intake fuel line the other does not...idk what thats about maybe just overflow? idk i had a leaf blower and it had 2 fueld lines and another fuel line in there with the ball on it i guess mowers are different...but yeah soem lawnmowers i find dont have gaskets but still work if its air tight i gues sit doesnt matter..but i have one mower thats suppose to have auto choke but it doesnt work the thing that the metal stick is attached to i broke seom cheap plastic peace now its doesnt open and close as the mower needs it will stay wide open leaving the carberator wide open taking in too much fuel then it revs up like its going to explode..the mower itself works but thats the only problem it has idk what the part is called or where to get it..its attached to teh carberator i hate to think i have to buy a whole new carberator for a 5 cent piece of plastic.
I don't know how to help you. Sorry
How do u fix this on a toro personal pace
You have to see what king of engine is one there. It is most likely a Honda. Start from there. I am sorry i can't help you anymore as i am note there. This video may help.

Great video. Briggs&Stratton was not helpful
Thanks Patrick
I fix mine runs good
I hope this video helped.
more year I believe is to be 2011 pH - xt675 - 2011 serial number 413-262-6878 no I was wrong 413-202-6878 needing recoil and housing 4 top of motor it said again
Haha
We being retired i can
perfekt
Thanks
You need more lights in the right places !!! Can't see a thing you are doing. Nice try though!!!
Well this is a 3 year old video. I have come a long way. I suggest you make a video. I visited your channel and you should start making them. It isn't as easy as turning on a camera.
It is spelled GASKET not gasget
You are right. This is You Tube sory. :-)
Bad lighting cannot see a lot of video
I agree about the lighting. This video is 6 years old. I hope I make a better product now. Time fly's.
MAN! use some light in your videos!!!! it is invisible what you do man.....
Well Adam. These are older videos. Before being critical you should make a few videos yourself.
@@BrucesShop I'am sorry, I don't get it. you meam you hadn't light earlier times??? I am not broadcasting any movies because I have nothing interesting to share. Well you do great job and I like it, only dislike the invisibility. that's all.
Thanks
