My mom taught SPED for 31 years. I think one of the many reasons I love this movie is because of her reaction to it close to after when it came out. She knew at that moment he was a great great actor. Anyhoo.

DiCaprio was so good in this role that people actually thought a mentally challenged boy was chosen to portray the character. They weren't aware he was 'acting'.
That is the most googled answer I've ever heard.... That exact sentence and that exact comment has been made word for word so many times by all the articles, all the clips, ...by everyone who's made remarks about the movie
I visited Manor, TX this past Sunday and got photos of the grocery store Depp’s character worked at, the water tower that Leo’s character climbed and Johnny Depp’s initials, footprint and date in the concrete in front of the store!!
@@86ortega yeah man! I only recently found out about this myself. They also filmed in nearby Pflugerville and the courthouse scene was shot in Lockhart. If you ever pass through there again, the initials and footprint aren’t directly in front of the grocery store, they’re sort of to the left of it facing the front
Very uncomfortable film to watch. DiCaprio's role Seemed in pretty poor taste. The story was pretty crap and a lot of it made no sense and the music felt like it as from a daytime Hallmark movie. Just a typical manipulative Hollywood Oscar Bait film. Basically if "Simple Jack" was a feature length.
Arnie is one of his best performances. I said it and I stand by it.
Hands down.
Took him out of the pretty boy roles that would have been in his future
