Wow that is perfect! I have a feeling this technique is going to get refined in the next year and become very popular. A buttercream drip is so much more affordable and achievable for the average baker, since they can more easily make some extra buttercream versus buying all that chocolate and adding a whole nother recipe to the mix. Can't wait to see what people do with this!
American Buttercream Frosting, does this as well. But do it in tiny bursts of time. Because the butter will separate. So get it close, and keep whipping it up, so it doesn't separate
I know that some people microwave their buttercream as a method to darken black buttercream. I'm sure you know this too, just one of my favourite baking fun facts that maybe I'll use one day when I fully can get into baking with a proper oven and everything. I think this one will also be one that will stick in my head as another fun fact to use one day too.
To answer your question, it should work with any butter cream. The butter melts while homogenized and is then able to firm back up once cooled. Meringue based ones shouldn’t be different but I could be wrong.
American buttercream will start to separate if you aren't constantly stopping it and whipping it. I think meringue based butter creams work better because its more of an emulsion than american buttercream
Please share if you try layers of buttercream for layers of melting ice cream. Like pouring the same layer you did there, letting it again become solid, then pouring lesser amount just over the top. I’d be excited to see that too! Great work!
I think it turned out really great! Looks really cool. I think the "drip technique" looks really good on cakes but this one with buttercream looks extra good.
Ommgg yummm😋😋🤩🤩 I used to melt my frosting (Pillsbury) and pour it over my swirl cake and it’s amazing. I wish i had a real apartment to bake from scratch. Thank you for this beautiful cake!
It worked out so lovely!! I will have to try this as well! The final result was gorgeous! Ps. I’ve always said “okie dokie!” (in Americanese) and have turned so many people onto your content because of nowww saying it with your Australian accent! I kind of nail your tone. 💁🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️ In fact, as someone who has always had a knack for (mostly)all-things-auditory, I find your accent has been really lovely to refine my Australian accent overall! You speak very articulately and it is easy for me to hear how to place my mouth when I produce/project the sounds. Whew! Hopefully that makes sense! It does to me, but I certainly didn’t anticipating typing that this morning. 😅 Anywho! I love your content! It is evident how much time you have spent honing your craft! I love your transparency and how unapologetically YOU you are with us all. ☺️💗
I made cake pops yesterday and I coated them in melted buttercream my recipe was just icing sugar, butter, milk and vanilla and it melted quite well.I did get the idea off this video ❤
It works for meringue based as well as American buttercream! I’ve done both! I love doing this for drips. Makes sure you always have the perfect match!
The only thing I would add is a more subtle little pink drip down the cone before placing into the pink ball of "ice cream" because let's face it, when you place a scoop in the cone it never has a clean line like that it always pushes a little over the edge

Buttercream was a perfect choice for the drop on this. It looks like melted ice cream.

Candy melts are cheap though and for something like this you can also just buy a bottle of cake drip for cheap as well.
Whaaaaaattt??? This is the cutest cake I have EVER SEEN 😭 I wanna wear it like a hat 🥺🥰 This is so cunning amd precious

You should add the black lines and make it more cartoony like the comics. This cake just looks like it needs the lines 😊please do
It looks so yummy!
Melt & pour buttercream is my fave on some types of cakes. So easy peasy!
Wow, that's an amazing cake
You've got some skills. Keep it up!!🎉🎉
