I like the manga, in my opinion it shows that there are sad moments in life but when the people you cherish is around you they can make you happier.

i have alternate ending in my mind..hear me out..what if emma actually travel to human world, but travel 20 years way back in time during warzone. She didnt lose her memory, however she had to somehow make a huge changes to the world by making human world a peaceful place to live in for norman and the others to live in (at the cost of 20 years of her life before the actual date norman travel to human world), which the demi-god demon find it more interesting. After solving the wolrd crisis, she somehow manage to prepared and insturcted his servant to standby at the beach when norman and the others arrive at the human world..that could explain how they know exactly when/where norman and the other kids coming, and how the world suddenly live in peacefuk day. emma at that time probably already dead because of the war and her name was remembered as saviour of the world.Before she passed away, she left some letter(message) for norman and the others about how she missed them, how she really want to live together with the other kids peacefully. The manga ends where norman, ray and the other kids visiting emma's grave and showing how the others moving on with their life

I mean I’m glad they all ended up back together but dang :( Emma had her whole life’s story whipped from her memory. I know that they can all make new memories but still-

I don't get why people hate the ending. The reward should be something important from the other party(Emma) and her memories is actually a nice price for the promise. It's a bitter-sweet ending indeed but it's still satisfying. Also, the reason why I think this is positive is because, all of the pain she suffered, she will now forget it and this will help her mind rest (and she will also forgot the trauma she suffered). Maybe, if they added like Norman's escape, it wouldn't feel rushed. But overall, it's a nice ending.
P.S: I know I'm not the only one disappointed in the anime...

I know right QwQ Norman crying hit me the most and the fact that he wasn't able to confess his love even in the epilogue was sad- putting all this aside, I'm glad everyone's together again, especially the trio.

Weird I wish the story could have continued from her memory loss, like the begining of a new characters' story trying to figure out their past or something much more deeper than that. I kinda wish some demon characters would have chased them to the human world, and make the story seem much more like a fantasy novel.
hmm.. that would be nice but they already went through so much work and sufferingness (?) I don't think they deserve to be chased by more demons

They mentioned the possibility and risk to it, and they also alluded to Sonju wanting to bring the world back to how it was before, and it could have built more upon it with other demon characters, like Lewis or the villagers, or more about their culture. It kinda started to kill off the demons characters fairly quickly. To be honest most of the characters didn't amount to anything, especially Phil. I would have loved to see him trying to find a way out on his own, through Minerva's alias and exploring more the farms network. Or at the least putting up with his character by trying to find Emma in the new world.
It could have been interesting if Emma had a spiritual connection with the promise, and she is the key to all, and her necklace. Her story could have continued in trying to save the people in her new life, and the ones she can't remember. I would have liked that there was always a connection from the demon world to the human world, with the use of fantasy witchcraft 🌟✨ (Emma looks the part for witch) to save them.
And there should have been stakes, the tension diminished afterwards, there wasn't much consequence to pay. (Even if they suffer). Everything went well with Norman's plan, and also putting Musika as queen. If felt like it was given. And mama's death should happen, but not like that. Her sacrifice felt rushed. The whole thing after golden pond felt rushed. With tension, it makes you care more about the characters, the story and world has weigh. Also Ray fell flat.
Well, I wanted to see more, or at the very least a satisfying ending. I really like Emma, and I feel like her ending was robbed. It's like she gave up when she lost her memories, and I would have loved to see her strive to earn her family again.
Sorry, I don't want to rant. But I really have this sentiment. 👍😁

now that I’ve seen the anime AND read the manga, I actually like the manga’s ending way better (even though it brings me PAIN EHDHSHDH) it’s so bittersweet but it’s satisfying enough for me. the anime’s ending, although happy, just didn’t give me that satisfaction due to how rushed the season was 😔

Yeah and I hope that The characters aren’t apart for so long. It makes me sad when any main character is missing for too long, u start to miss that character. I hope Norman comes back soon, fast than 1 and a half years. I also hope they don’t spend 2 years looking for Emma, 6 months looking for her could suffice. And I hope she regains her memories. Time skips just make me uncomfortable in manga. Especially time skips where the characters haven’t seen each other in a while.

Ikr that felt just rushed or that the author just got tired of it decided to get done with it... It was so underwhelming loool I wish there were a few more chapters of the kids adapting into the human world, more details about them looking for Emma, Emma developing a bond with the old man that she would call grandpa, and presenting him to the kids when they find her. Also it would have been more realistic if she tried to run away from them first and go to the old man seeking safety haha. I felt like it was too easy for them to convince her to come live with them while she barley remembers them lol...

I just don’t understand something.
Ray really didn’t have anything “special”
If u wanna talk about it after they ran away from the farm the first time (after Norman was shipped) boom he turned into a side character and I hate it. He’s so smart and stuff but they just threw him away and I am surprised no one mentioned it. To think about it without him they all would be dead (I mean yes everyone was important but ray put his life on the line since he was 5-6 for them) . I just wanted to see him do something to gain recognition. Like for example , finding something, fighting the queen, even a sad moment that would make him more eager to show himself. Yes Emma and Norman are the main main characters but still. That’s why I switched to the manga, season 2 was just disappointing character and scene wise. For example when ray literally saw his mother that wanted to kill him they made the scene about Emma and Isabella. Like what? I was so excited for a “forgive me ray” a huh from ray and Isabella, and I really expected that moment to be the moment where everyone finds out she’s his biological mom. , only Emma and Norman had screen time and ray literally only said 3 sentences. Yes the manga is better for ray compared however I am extremely disappointed. Still thankful for the writers and animators for working hard tho. And sorry for this long rant-

I was so sad I was bawling for hours like, Emma did so much and had a heart of diamonds and gold and especially bedrock because she’s was such a loving person with endless love that she gave everything she had for others. She believed the people that were trying to feed her to demons were good. And that demons were. And she had hope for everyone and everything. She would put herself before everything else. The most selfless person ever. And to know or be someone like her needs an award bigger then anyone couldn’t even imagine. Because Emma fought so hard and loved so many people. She was willing to give her life for others. She was willing to give up everything she knew just for others. Because Emma is the best person ever. That’s why so many people looked so hard for her and loved her, is because she did so much. And she did so much that there is no way to ever equally repay her. Emma made me so emotional that she made me a better person through paper. In thought of Emma, forever our leader.

@Anthony Nguyen I mean, they kept some concepts like the genocide, but it's still very different from the manga (for example, the attack on the capital didn't happen, the seven walls and Norman's shelter where offscreen, Norman didn't look like an adult, Isabella didn't die...) And everything was super rushed

people don't like this ending, but i loved it , it really showed the price these kids willing to take to get out of the demon place since emma is the one getting them out it's poetic she's the one that can't enjoy the rewards of it but knowing they are safe ,they really should've let emma lost her memories forever and the kid kept visiting her trying to make her remember and make new memories accidentally

My idea for Emma to get her memory back: make her read the manga so she'll have a whole new memory in her head but it's the same since she only needs to know what we know
I don't know if it's a good thing or not that I am already immune to this kind of endings. Cliffhangers and a character not regaining his or her memories. Although it lessens the unsatisfaction from the ending, it became anti climactic for me. Still, I feel like Emma will still live happily even without those memories, we all know that she is optimistic as hell so we should just be happy that no life was sacrificed in order for them to grant the promise.

I love this ending, like another guy said in this comment section, its a bitter sweet ending, and I think it was the best the author could do imo. Now, 2 years since this finally ended, last night I finished re reading the manga, as I had bought the last 6 volumes to complete the series, and that night, a terrible theory came into my mind: If Emma rewrote the Promise, which was made 1000 years ago, could a random demon go in the 7 walls, and make a new one, and somehow send all the humans that were born in demons worlds back there? Just imagine, all they did and and hard worked, just disappear bc of a random in the other worlds part, and this time, there are no Ratris, none will make sure ppl will fulfill the promise 💀 If Emma could rewrite Julius promise, anyone could rewrite Emmas one, just think bout it. Maybe Lewis, who basically gave all important political stuff to Mujika, Sonyu and the ancient temple men just to disappear again, and bc of that, Ive rn thought of another theory, what if he is protecting the 7 walls, and not letting anyone in? Well, its not a physical place, so maybe he protecting the golden water spots so anyone can use it to do the random stuff with blood, vida flower, moonlight and that water so the worls stays the same, as hes pleased with the current demon world? But he will die someday, he would have to pass the role to another powerful person/group of persons, and those could betray Lewis, or... I dont know, so many posibilties for the promise to be rewritten, and for the children to go back there, 5 mins ago thought Lewis was the key to achieve this, well i now think hes absolutely not.
For the people who got past all this shitty theory, thanks, ik none would normally do that, so Im aware I may have written this for no one but myself, but I hesitate that so much, within some months from now on, another bro from the tpn gang, where everyone is addicted to tpn, will for sure have read this, looking forward to hearing from you dear reader and tpn gang bro, I think ill never be coming up with a consistent theory, as we have no info, just the imagination power, unless Kaiu Shirai drops an extra chapter related to the promise protection (which I also hesitate, as there are so many interesting stuff to explain better, if you thin abt it, all extra chapters have smth in common: They explain better things the author couldnt explain in main manga history, as shonen jump magazine made him rush the history and end it within a limited number of chapters, so explaining something about the promise is also possible, just unlikely, and special chapters are taking ages to be released, anyway, Kaiu Shirai said now, in 6th TPN aniversary, more of those chapters will come out, so thats good I guess) So you, person who made it to this part of the theory, tell me your thoughts, I love you for making it so far and bear all this stupid stuff I said in a language that isnt even my native one the, it was the best I could do, well actually wrote without thinking a single thing, just fast typed what I thought, I think it was pretty understandable anyway. I think the last 2 arcs were rushed, and whilst the concept is yeah, pretty bittersweet, and I would've preferred a happier ending, I think that if they had more time to expand upon it I would've liked more.
Also the pacing was all over the place

@Mia Alia well, that stuff had to happen to develop the story. Emma had to sacrifice that to save everyone and that was her character.
For me this was the best ending. And for me it was a happy ending too. But I wish, Yuugo could see the new world too. He doesn't deserve to die there. Damn! Since his death, I couldn't be happy about anything even in my real life.

there many more children being on a farm. Emma has to make a new promised with the demon god to take ALL kids from the demon world to the human world. to do that, the demon god had taken Emma’s loving memories of her family as a form of payment.
seriously, you have to read the manga! It's really awesome. The anime skip so much. there a lot of best characters. there also a sad moment other than Emma lost her memory.

So many people want this changed. So many want the happy ever after style ending but that isnt TPN. The current ending is fine it just needs to be expanded it needs to define and explore the world more, and also Norman x Emma if they truely arnt related, not so sure after one of the chapters saying how some kids from gracefield are that one womans
