I remember my mom playing this song in the car when I was younger :) everything was perfect , she would take my brother and I to school every morning and we were with her all the time and it was just .... Perfect. Now she's strung out on drugs really bad and I've been listening to these old songs that remind me of who my mom once was, a beautiful caring person. All I have left is memories.
Don't settle for just memories. Help your mother. Drugs are not something that can be overcome alone. She may not say it, she may not admit it, but she needs you. Your mother cannot take the first step without help. Be there for her. Help her back to being the woman you remember.
Erika Howard I know exactly how you feel. When I was a baby, my dad and me were extremely close. Every weekened I would sit on his lap and for hours we would listen to music, but we listened to this the most. I remember singing it with him and we would dance together. He taught me how to play it on my guitar at the age of 5. It was all perfect. Now we are not close at all. Every. single. day. he grounds me, and yells at me. He makes me miserable. But for some reason, I still love him so much. I listen to this song every now and then and just close my eyes and remember all those memories...the memories that are probably long forgotten by him...the memories of times that I will never be able to have again.
How is she now, a year later? If I may ask. I dealt with a dad like this. Its hard. Try and help her ass much as you can but don't destroy yourself. There comes a time where it becomes harmful to your well being and you have to step away. I hope she's getting better and you're staying strong
I really wish Christian stations played more stuff like this Everytime I turn to our local Christian Radio station, almost all the songs are "Woohoo, God is cool, let's all be happy" and are all upbeat. This, on the other hand, is a lot more personal. She based it on her own real-life experience, and how God helped her. To me, personal stories about hardships are a lot more powerful and relatable than "God is strong and awesome, let's all be happy"

The love of my life passed march 6, 2021. I love God and my true love. Just found this song again after a couple of years. Fitting for both! Sorry about your mom. I feel ya!
Yeah everyone forgets that thats in the bible. Either that or thinks its excusable somehow which is even worse. But no the satanists who newsflash actually dont kill or sacrifice are the bad ones. Right.
I got saved several months ago. I have been filled with so much joy and God gave me a message last night, Thus sayeth the Lord, My time is near, my chosen people will be coming home soon. Praise God, I can't wait to go home. Repent and it will be your home too.
I actually learned that when she was 15 she was addicted to heroine. And when she was 16 she wanted to kill herself, the day she wanted to she had a encounter with God and that is how she came up with the lyrics to this song. Hope this was helpful. 😁
Okay so I'm legitimately FRIENDS with Lacey Sturm/Mosely and she told me as a act that this song is about her experience when she was planning on killing herself and her grandmother made her go to church. And the priest stopped and said in the middle of a Sermon "God tells me that there is a suicidal presence in the room" Or something like that. And later when she tried to leave she was stopped by a man who said that God had asked him to pray for her and with her. Lacey cried a lot and she says it was because of God that she woke up the next Morning. And yes I do personally know Lacey. Her husband Justin is a member of a church I play music for. They stop by A LOT.
Colton Scharf I love how everyone respects the fact that this song can be about god or something else like heartbreak and how people aren't fighting from what I've seen.

I felt genuinely so cool, because no one else in my grade had music in class. I listened to this song on repeat throughout the day and it genuinely made my life a little better :)

You know... you can think anything about the main thing this song is about. I think this is song is about a teen girl that is daydreaming about the guy of her dreams, you may think that its about a teen loving her god, it seriously sickens me when people try to fight logic with religion and religion with logic, those are 2 different things, you can choose to follow one, or both, I chose to follow one, and leave the other alone, undisturbed
When this song came out I would vibe to it not even knowing what she was talking about. Now I’m Christian , and I’m here like 🥰🤩😇 yass girl, so crazy for God! Even more beautiful knowing it’s for Him 🙏🏼
I'm not christian, and I know this band is but this is a beautiful and powerful song that came from the heart and soul and it's very respectable that she has such a close relationship with god. A lot of people don't have that in their lives. ( I believe there is a god/higher being/ creator, I'm just not Christian)
If it is about Jesus then even better. Who would not want to sing about our Lord and Savior. God loves all of you. He could have anything and he would still rather have you. God bless you all.
+DarkQueenOfHell google the interview Lacey did about the song she talks about her issues of suicide and faith in this song she also talks about the story behind this song its pretty good check it out
Thank you Jesus. If it wasn't for you I would have already died when I was 11 and standing late at night with the knife pressed to my skin. You showed me a vision of a strong woman who had been strenghtened in life's hardships but reached her goals. You showed me this woman had a family, children who looked up to her and a husband who praised her. You showed me a life that was so different from the bullied child having just heard I had autism back then. And You spoke to me directly. You told me that this was a possible future. But that if I wanted that future I would have to work hard on it. And I would never have any future at all if I would slit my wrists. I threw the knife back. That was the moment my life changed and I believed. Until my mom died of cancer and granny of a broken heart 24 hours later. I cursed God! I thought He broke His promise. I messed up my life. But God never broke His promise. He didn't show me the future. He showed me a possible future and told me I had to work on it to become that woman. A while ago I read Proverbs 31:10-31. And I was shocked. It was the woman from my vision described in those verses. And I am working hard now on becoming the woman who is worth more than rubies. I relate to this song so much and am thankful for being alive today. God is with me. He gives me the strength I need to become that virtuous woman.
Pretty much sums up when I was laying in a hospital bed, supposed to die. I went blind for a week and it wasn't darkness.. it was bright white light. I was telling people to turn out the lights... there were no lights on.. it was night time and dark in my room. Being able to feel my loved one in the room, knowing they were near by.
Nobody told me this was a Christian song lmao

I think this is song is about a teen girl that is daydreaming about the guy of her dreams, you may think that its about a teen loving her god, it seriously sickens me when people try to fight logic with religion and religion with logic, those are 2 different things, you can choose to follow one, or both, I chose to follow one, and leave the other alone, undisturbed
they're a christian band???
blairedemort yes lol they are but I am not sure about anymore.
I think it's about someone finally seeing the guy that they missed because they were like almost dying or something
Religion and logic aren't two seperate realms, actually.
Kenzie They're like soup and pizza. They may share components, but they're pretty different.
This song gives me the chills and suddenly makes me teary eyed for some reason :"(
I will always love this song forever
When this song came out I would vibe to it not even knowing what she was talking about. Now I’m Christian , and I’m here like 🥰🤩😇 yass girl, so crazy for God! Even more beautiful knowing it’s for Him 🙏🏼
I'm not christian, and I know this band is but this is a beautiful and powerful song that came from the heart and soul and it's very respectable that she has such a close relationship with god. A lot of people don't have that in their lives. ( I believe there is a god/higher being/ creator, I'm just not Christian)
God bless then :) we welcome everyone
Some people interpret this song in different ways. It doesn't matter if this song is about Jesus or not, it's good either way.
OzuBunny I think of my ex when I hear this.
Who's the dumbass that thinks this song is about Jeebus?? When has Flyleaf EVER sung ANYTHING about him???
If it is about Jesus then even better. Who would not want to sing about our Lord and Savior. God loves all of you. He could have anything and he would still rather have you. God bless you all.

This makes me miss God
I love this song dearly, it brings out my exact feelings of how I hold onto people.
Me, a non-christan: I CAN FEEL YOU ALL AROUND ME THICKENING THE AIR IM BREATHINGGGG
i love this song smmmm 🤘🏻🖤
The references in this song are profound: Jesus, Buddha, twin flame, inner child, Divine Feminine, it's all the same. It's light. It's love.
