Sometimes I really enjoy indulging myself in the state of depression.
Why Hammock aren't better known is a mystery, but one I'm prepared to accept. It's like having a private club with exclusive access for all us knowing folk. No bouncers needed in this club, either, because most people can't see the entrance, in the same way that beauty eludes them.
Their new album is great - I bought it via Bandcamp and it's well worth the money.

Wow, that was surprisingly profound.
Let's say if everyone in the world would know this music there would be NO wars, NO chaos, NO hatred... because everyone would have a soul and a heart to appreciate that these sounds can make you travel into the deeper levels of love, melancholy and peace. In a reflective way.
I don't think any of us will truly ever understand the raw emotion, effort, love, etc. that Marc put into this song alone. To dedicate a song directly to his sister after what they've all been through , and continue to live with now, must have absolutely drained everything out of him emotionally. I am absolutely grateful to have found Hammock in my life all those years back, as they've brought me through some dark times in my life as well.

I am so grieved by your loss. I am so sorry.
My sister passed away last year, a few months after this album came out. I can't even begin to tell you how this album helped me through it. I don't know how it's possible, but you guys have managed to put to music what it feels like to lose a loved one. The pain, sadness, and sorrow in this song and the entire album got me through all the pain of heartache because it made me realize I'm not alone in my suffering, and it's comforting to know that these are things we all feel one day though we may never want to.
I own this on vinyl and play this song whenever I think of her. I played it at her wake along with photos of her because it was "for my sister" and it only made sense.

The emotion...i have a sister that i never met...she hates my father and doesnt want to meet me because of him...i know that she has 2 kids so im a uncle that makes me happy...i cant imagine what Marc have been through

Hopefully, both of you will find peace, thank you Hammock for your mind blowing music. Sadly, you aren't well known as you should be, but an ignorant will step over 100$ bill and pick up a penny because it's shiny.
I passed on this song at first due to the dissonant start...but then I gave it a full listen. From 3:20 on it's simply sublime and easily 3 of their best minutes of music.
Numinous is still my fave, but this is good as well.
