I am egyptian and i really wish tourists wouldnt go into such dangerous neighborhoods. Even as a local, i’d be very careful going there and only for necessity. These people are especially jumpy when they see a foreigner with a camera. The government is cleaning up these places. Until then, try to stay out of the slums.
The locals don't like cameras because they are afraid an outsider is going to make a video which shows them as dirty people and then their Government is going to evict them or make laws making it more difficult for them to survive.
