Lots of lead playing (and not like heavy effects lead playing, but constant scales and whatnot), fast riffs and beats (as opposed to more of just a groove type thing), blatant double kick and tom fills, and pitch harmonics -to me- defines the genre as "metal" rather than "hard rock," NOT the level of heaviness. Maybe specify "ALTERNATIVE Metal," if you really want to be picky, but I just have always felt like the mentality that hard rock just sort of blends into metal at a certain level of heaviness was wrong; I think they are simply two different distinct genres, and BVB still leans more towards the "metal" side, stylistically. It's hard to explain, but, some examples... Hard Rock: Three Days Grace Shinedown Creed Nickleback 10 Years Skillet Seether Metal (But only using examples that you're more likely to hear on the radio): Avenged Sevenfold Killswitch Engage Metallica Slipknot Black Veil Brides (Actually, I don't think my local rock station even plays them, because of all the hate from the hard rock/metal community. but you get the point) Then you have metal bands that have a good amount of songs that are more straight forward hard rock that get lots of radio play like Five Finger Death Punch or All That Remains. And there's the heavier side of hard rock, or what you might call "alternative metal" where the two sort of blend and you might say BVB or FFDP are bands that fall into that category. But clearer, more definitive examples would be Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Nothing More.... But do you see the core difference in style between my two main lists there? There is a clear difference, even if it's hard to put into words

I go to a performing arts school! I feel the same way it is heaven on earth because it's tons of cool kids lol and you get to express yourself and listen to whatever music you like and there's so many kids with black veil brides t-shirt that's so funny
