Alison Brown is a phenomenal banjo player that can play any style of music; bluegrass, popular , rock, and Jazz. She has taken the instrument to a new level.
I started playing guitar in 1952 and remember when it was rare for a guitar and piano to play together. George Shearing and Toots Thielman, Red Norvo z9Bonrdz0 and Tal Farlow, Oscar Peterson and Barney Kessel and Herb Ellis and others were rare. I was always grateful to those people and even Count Basie for Freddy Green. Glad to see this group try this.
I was allways a big fan of Bela Fleck, maybe just because he was the FIRST!!! who puts the 5string banjo out of it´s common rules and break the borders of unpossibilities... But This girl, sorry, I mean woman.. (she still looks like a strong girl, when she played this instrument..), she is now my number 1!!! 5string banjo player in the whole world! There is something in her performance, that I couldn´t explain., and it´s more relaxed or better to say natural then the performance of the other modern gods of 5str. banjo.. (Bela Fleck, Tony Trishka or Noam Pikelny and others..) Alison , all of my compliments!!!! Thank You!
Why does the piano have such a tinny sound on some of the notes? I remember as a child placing paper clips on the piano strings of my grandmothers piano causing the hammers striking the strings to sound like that.
Probably too cerebral for a breakfast morning in Nashville, but definitely taking the instrument and the combination to a new level. She is really a player.

NEVER dismiss a musical instrument. In the right hands, we can hear ANY genre.
That is some platinum talent there on that stage. Everyone of them. I love how they click. Never knew Alison was such a great jazz banjo player.
The piano player is awesome. A perfect fit with Alison.
She's got a new player and he's fabulous. Just saw her over the weekend.
Beautiful!
Thanks a million
