This is day 3 of my Meghalaya Solo trip. This will help you a lot in getting an idea of the place and the places.
➡️Location : Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya
➡️Best time to visit : May to September
➡️A little walk further from here can show a view of Bangladesh.
➡️What to shop : local spices, honey, and handicrafts.
The tragic story behind it's name is devastating . But before the story let me tell you that Nohkalikai Falls is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Its height is 340 metres.
STORY about Noh KaLiKai waterfalls :
Nohkalikai literally translates to “Jump of Ka Likai” wherein ‘Noh’ means jump, ‘Ka’ is a prefix used for a female, and ‘Likai’ is the name of the Khasi woman behind the ghastly legend.

Once in the village of Rangjyrteh, a young widow with a little baby girl worked hard to sustain their lives. She found it hard to take care of her little one along with a load of jobs. On perusal of village women, she remarried thinking her daughter would get a father and she would get time to look after her daughter.
The new husband turned out to be one nasty mean fellow. Jealous of all the attention little girl gets from Likai, he did something so horrendous we can’t even believe a human being can even think about it. He chopped the little soul and cooked her for dinner😭
Assuming her baby might be playing at the neighbor’s house, Likai, starving after a day’s hard work, ate the meal cooked by her husband. As she was eating her after-meal betel leaves and nuts, the sight of tiny fingers petrified her. It took her a minute to understand what exactly has happened, and when she did, she was filled with rage and grief. As helpless as her baby, Likai ran madly, until she reached the edge of waterfalls, and jumped to death.
That’s when the waterfall is renamed as ‘NohKaLikai.’

However, 1 day is not enough for Cherrapunji. It has a lot, actually.
I had only 1 day for Cherrapunji , hence left a few places.
The 3 most beautiful leftover places which we must visit in Cherrapunji are below.
And these can be covered only if time permits.
1. Double Decker Living Root Bridge: This needs 3 hours of trekking and is difficult for elderly people. So please think before planning this place.
2 . Rainbow Falls : You can see Rainbow at multiple position hence it is known as Rainbow Waterfall.
Rainbow Falls is truly majestic, especially because it needs a bit of luck to actually see the rainbow. To experience this nature's wonderful creation, you have to trek nearly 6 km one way.
3. Wei Sawdong Falls : You'll have to go through a steep trek of 20 minutes to finally get there since it is not visible from the main road.

Come to umkhoi canyon truely it will blow your mind in here there's a lake on the top of the cliff n also a jaw dropping waterfall called shumshum waterfall..location: umkhoi,mawkynrew way before u reach nongjrong.

Absolutely ! I went in 1st week of May itself . Still it was raining suddenly at times and was cold as well . Rainy season can be little risky I feel . Have a great trip 😅🤘

it means northeast 7District
It also means 7 north eastern states . Isnt it ? And the locals call this waterfalls as 7 sister waterfalls as I showed in vlog . Real name is Nohsngithiang falls as per my knowledge

I stayed in Airbnb which is 4 kms from the main Shillong area. It is named as annex home 3 in Airbnb . It costed around 1000 per day plus minimal tax :)

Cherrapunji rain is absolutely uncertain . May doesn’t mean it won’t rain. I visited in 1st week of May and it can rain anytime . Carry umbrella for sure . You can also check out other vlogs from Meghalaya series to see the weather.

What was the charge for 1 day trip to Cherrapunji from Shillong and return?
I booked cab services for 3 days. 2 days I was alone and one day my fellow travelers joined me for Dawki( hence more 2000) . Total cost 12-13k before 2 years
if i have to skip one between garden cave and mwasmai cave, which one i can skip
I really can’t choose but I would have skipped mawsmai caves because it is just caves and the other one is a bunch of things 😅

Yes it cold in May as well. Do carry some light jackets and winter garments if possible.

It’s based on where you go . But average price per day before 2 years was 3500 to 4500 (cheapest)

I have been to shillong last month, its true that we have heard a lot about shillong but its not that good from my aspect. Shillong must be green and covered with mountains all around but that doesnt make it the best. Shillong is just like a normal hill station. There is nothing to be excited about shillong. There are hardly any attractive place except the city seeing point. The hotels too are not that worth they are way too expensive and the food too is very bad in taste and unhygienic. But a place near shillong named Cheerapunji is very satisfying. Shillong doesnt have good travel accommodation airport is very far. The security for tourists at shillong is not doubtable. Shillomg city has got only 7 tourist place which will take hardly 4-5 hours to visit all because they are not very great and attractive tourist place. I will recommend to visit only Lady Hydari Park and a Cathedral Church in Shillong.
Hotels in Shillong are costly and the hotels are also not worth of your money. The service of most of the hotels are also not good. The crime rate of Shillong is very less but there is no loss in taking precautions becuase you can not trust every people. There is nothing extraordinary to visits. Just a small town with mountains. Fooding and lodging is very costly.
I only recomend this place to those who have never seen any hill station cost of living is very high in shillong.and we cannot find anything that cost below Rs 5 to stay for 1 night the hotels charge minimally around 1000 bucks n even more than that the food in the hotels are just okay and cost very high.the cab drivers charge very high for new passengers and u might also be fooled if u r not previously aware of the actual charge.😊The place is no doubt beautiful but I advise stay away from locals. They bullied us into paying fine for videos when I just had a still camera. I payed the camera fees like everyone. The locals misbehaved and snatched the car keys from us .

May 1st week it was . It often rains at Cherrapunji being the wettest place on earth . As of now Mawsynram is wettest which is not very far from Cherrapunji
