Tama. Training reforms should be a continuous process. The society in which you draw the soldiers from changes over time. Warfare and warfighting is a continuous evolution. Therefore, training should be a continuous evolution. Basic training that my uncles went through during Vietnam War is different when I went through. As an example, ration was 1 1/2 MRE a day for going through Ranger Course in the winter. Now is 3 squares a day. But some things don’t change like swim/water survival test in any weather condition and long range land navigation remain. You are right, don’t pattern your basic training to those of the more advanced training courses. Leave them alone. Those things are part of the selection process, especially for those tier one and tier two outfits.
You are right sir and I agree! Hazing and other forms of maltreatment do nothing to create better, smarter, or stronger graduates and officers. Many of these outdated practices have persisted for over five to six decades, passed down from generation to generation without question. At institutions like the USMA and USNA, cadets and midshipmen are no longer subjected to rigid 'square meal' protocols during mealtimes, where strict conduct is enforced even while eating. Yet in the PMA, PNPA, and other basic training programs of the AFP and PNP, trainees continue to endure unnecessary harassment. Practices such as forcing trainees to bend over add no value to their overall development, yet they remain part of the culture at institutions like PMA and OCS. The U.S., widely recognized for producing one of the finest officer corps, alongside a strong NCO corps, achieves this without resorting to hazing or other power-tripping traditions. It's time to modernize training methods, replacing those practices that amount to nothing but maltreatment. The old mindset that 'harder is better' should come to an end. Effective training should focus on developing well-rounded, capable, and resilient officers-free from the burden of outdated and abusive traditions.

@@filipinaspeopleandculture2786Thank you for the honest feedbacks and compliments. As a student of history, I gathered that some of our current practices and beliefs, had some logical purposes during the age of the phalanx and the Mongol hordes. Complete control of an Army was extremely necessary by then due to the tactics they used in battles. However, the changing character of war requires innovations in training and in the way campaigns are prosecuted. Today, the multi-domain warfare requires thinking and highly adaptive soldiers. We are lagging behind in the required innovations due to the antiquated traditions that cling to the notion that soldiers merely obey to commands given by superiors. We are trying to change this mindset. 😮
I was a graduate of Basic ROTC myself, and I can see that part of my character build up, I owe it to the ROTC. However, tama po kayo sir, meron talagang manga walang katuturang activities/ exercises na pinapagawa and this does not only come from the upper class but sometimes also from the reserve personnel na pinapadala ng reserve command para tumulong facilitate ang manga trainings

Dapat lang tangalin yan sir na pra ctice mag focus sa intelectaul and physical aligned to training program
Big salute to you sir Cabunoc that's the reason why I left the AFP because of those overed practices and traditions, nakakalungkot na isipin pero hindi ko talaga tangap ang mga ganyan sa basic training at sa new report personnels. that means all those traditions and practices were out of place and out of time, true even the civilians now were also doing these out of nothing😢
Tama Sir 100% 💘💝💖💯
Salute for being a Bel-esprit officer and leader having always a noble purpose in every blog that you shared my profound thanks sir.
For the time being mejo matatagalan na mawala yan lalo s ROTC...
I'm also a product of maltreatment sa training ng advance ROTC, sir. Thank you for your service, sir. I hope makapasok din ako ng PAOCS after maka-graduate.
Tamang may doktrina Pero dapat I apply ng maayos at walang pananakit
sir harold❤
keep safe
Sa French Foreign Legion nga sir ehh, kinuha na yung hazing at bullying noong 2010...
Good morning po sir IDOL
19:43 SIR YESS SIRR..
Tama sir. Mas ok na tanggalin. Parang walang originality. Dapat sa afp lang dapat siguro yan.
Seems like walang control ang gov sa training protocol.
Good thing namention mo Ang fragging sir, Minsan nalilimutan ng officer.
Good afternoon sir.tanong ko lang Po sana kung may chansa paba ang Isang 33 years old electrical NC2 graduate sa TESDA sa special enlistment,.at kung Meron, saan pwedi mag apply sir..maraming salamat Po sa sagot.lubos na gumamagalang po. Charfi Bate of lanao del Norte,Mindanao.
