❤its so funny in a way that he is inquiring about her family bc he knows how crucially messed up his mother is and to be honest his family dynamic. His sister is clinging to her soul mate husband and Carmy sees stability in that. I secretly think the funny thing is that he wants to cling to the same stability he believes he sees in Syd. But like anyone who comes from a dysfunctional family of parents and sometimes siblings he hints to be sure, he fishes for subtle signs in Syd's facial expressions and in her answers. He wants to be sure he can find stability in someone like her, if not her alone because whether you as a viewer like it or not, they are connected already and that is far more intimate than pretending to have a connection with someone. He touches her and does not recoil, he is very close in proximity with her and takes up the personal space that should be there, but the writers of the show did not allow that...they wanted that space to be used up. Not a coincidence to anyone who has ever been intimate with someone and not afraid of them.❤
This show is inspiring. As a coffee roaster and experience working in the food industry this really lights my motivation to keep striving and learning! Love love this show from day one
I miss my musician bf.. we used to travel for recharging & inspiration.. and i miss the banter.. you get better if you have someone who's straight up honest for facts, not to bring you down.. to make you better at what you do & as a person.. no matter how long it takes.
@ 2:34 When he said “you have to care about everything more than anything” it made me realize that caring more about the people at the restaurant is something that Syd will have to learn how to do. Yes she cares about the food but she isn’t good at being vulnerable with her co workers. Like why didn’t she tell Carmy her mom is dead @ 3:48 ? Why did she cut him off when he brought up her dad @ 4:53 ? Why didn’t she put more thought into what’s going on with Marcus’ mom @5:35 ? She is very caring but only about the food. I can’t wait to see her character development because she will learn to care about EVERYTHING.
I get where you are coming from but I think it's not quite there, an example would be Syd cared enough about the restaurant and Tina, to ask her to be her 'Jeff' and sent her to explore her potential more despite their short comings and concerning Marcus the choice would have still been his, should she have known or not, yes now they are friends but like coworkers friends. It's fair to say that food tie all the group together in a sense because it's their place of work but it's also where family is in the show, but let's be honest not every work is family. - All of them knew Micheal, were tied to his family, Syd just got her. Wasn't it one of the thing Richie or Tine ( i forgot) was scared'' she just got her and next thing you know, everything is different''Camy lost his brother and it's quite recent, she literally said if I recall something in the lines of ''it's been a long time, I was young'' '' I'm older than she would have been '' during her meal w her dad, which (I think) 27''. After losing her business, I think it makes more sense for her caracter to be job driven since she took a leap of faith working for someone who she admires and end up a little later conforming some her developped insecurities when their business partner do things like ghost to go see their girlfriend. Syd, is already thinking about everything on her side. Because if you think about it. it's the two of them, I think that scene was 'let's (us= Carmy and Syd ( plus the crew) get a star' but then we saw how Carmy let down his promise. I think, because Carmy is the one who was there, know is crew better, longer, it made sense that he has more this vulnerability to their personal lives, right. He was fufilling that role in a sense. I think we will get the opportunity to explore that more in the future.
So my mother died when I was 7 yrs old. I don’t mention it to people I meet or work with until it comes up. It doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about people
@@DoYouSalut Sorry for your loss. Yea I totally understand that but I think the opportunity to tell them as come up. Carmy literally ask her about her mom in this clip. I just think in the context of how the show is written, its intentionally. In real life it makes sense not to tell your coworkers your personal business, but I think we’re supposed to feel like they are closer than that. Like they are a family or forming a family. Also I think Syd does care but the way she cares does not require vulnerability. She cares for Carmy by putting in the work and giving her time (even when he doesn’t). But she doesn’t ask him to hang out or share things about her family with him. She cares about Marcus by thinking of ways to further his career and give him a new experience. But she doesn’t check on how his mom is doing knowing that he is on the verge of experiencing a loss like she has.
I think she cares and we know from the show she loves to take care of people. I think it’s more so about vulnerability. She’s cagey about telling Carmy about her mom which is understandable and this may inform how she feels about Marcus and his mom. He’s been going through this for years so a break probably helped. I think she took Carmy’s words too much to heart and that makes her way more invested than people normally are and contributes to more self implosions.
So tell me why these writers don't want to write a season where Sydney & Carly get together? I'm asking genuinely. What is the actually root of the issue? Is it the inability to write romance? Not wanting or liking IR ? What is it? Also, I haven't finished watching all of the seasons but I plan to so please someone help me out with understanding why the writing for these two isn't heading toward the obvious clear direction?
I just found this show. I had heard about it, wanted to watch but never got around to it. Now that I have, I love it! And I get why people like this duo. It's amazing how quickly they fell in step with one another. From the very beginning in season one, he brought her in as an equal. And she saw him and his crew as an opportunity for growth. She saw he wanted that as well and wanted to help bring that to life. I mean, he makes her his partner in His family restaurant. That says a lot about what he sees in her. They just completely connect. I don't know where it will go, or where I want it to go. I just know these two are meant to be something to each other. I didn't mind Claire so much. She was nice, but also felt a little too... Something I can't put my finger on. Perfect? Maybe? Sometimes your first relationship is there to help open you up for the right one. Idk... But I just want them to be successful in their business together.
So many shows and films try to bring up mental health into their dialogue scenes, but they often come across feeling forced or unnatural. But on this show characters talk the way people talk in real life, they stammer and stumble over their words and over each other, not in these perfectly worded paragraphs that feel more like Twitter or Facebook posts that people spend hours writing.
This show gives me so much anxiety, because I work in the industry… but I absolutely love Jeremy Allen White, I’ve loved him since Shameless, and they captured what it’s like to work in the kitchen, perfectly!
I have absolutely no interest in working in a restaurant. But this show fascinates me. Fortunately for me, I'm way too old and too slow to work in one now.
Sorry No..I lke Syd shes great shes Ambitious thats what ties her to Carmy- its Not Romantic- I liked Claire cause she added calmness & genuine love to Carmys life-- he needs a soft place to fall-- Claire would give him that but Syd is here to learn & progress not to be in love..but they make a Great Work team with a Friendship!
The calmness that was giving him multiple panic attacks and sleepless nights? LMAO Notice how on opening night everything went to shit the moment he goes out there to see Claire?
Some artists are surrounded by inspiration to create something, some artists absorb inspiration to create something. If you look at Syd's home in season 1 - it was warm and full of colour. Hence why a lot of her dishes like her ribs take time and care to be prepared. But when you look at Carmy's appartment, because he creates such wonderful dishes from chaos, you would think his apartment would be a mess, but the mere fact that his apartment is empty and bland shows how much of his passion and creativity gets poured on the plate.
@@jaddytheteenblogger also when his sister hung that painting in the restaurant he didn’t like it and said it wasn’t him. His self expression solely happens on the plate.
Carm to Syd: "You happy?" He's so mindful of how she feels. Even in another episode when she told him she hated getting yelled at and stuff in the kitchen. She didn't want to work in an environment like that anymore. You could see how hurt Carm was that he treated her so badly in season 1 second to last ep. She walked out on him and all the light just left his face. From that moment on he tries soo hard to not disappoint her. And then boom claire with her gum stealing a.ss had to mess up his head space like his family would do.
It may get there but its gonna happen well after Carmen forms a relationship...with a therapist. Cause that dude is fucked mentally. Being in a kitchen is where he is at his best; however, the anxiety and pressure he feels is not good for him mentally.
He needs to decorate his place. It so sad the real actor only befriended his lady in real life or date her and then left she and the kids as soon as he got famous/ he has a new lady already.
@@jeanbastien9424Unfortunately this is the case with a lot of men I've noticed, Ethan Slater, Barry Keoghnan... All suddenly not with their old partners anymore whom they just recently had a baby with after they got famous, but suddenly dating other famous women instead
that’s what I like about her though, she’s comes off really natural which I feel like is common for actors that aren’t professionally trained, but I have no idea if she was or not, she might have been.
But clearly the writers, directors, producers, all the folks who sat in on the auditions and chemistry reads, big money investors etc.... thought otherwise.

Not a coincidence to anyone who has ever been intimate with someone and not afraid of them.❤
ALSO THEY NEVER GOT THEIR DINNER DATE AHHHHHHHHH IM STILL WAITING FOR THAT
This show is inspiring. As a coffee roaster and experience working in the food industry this really lights my motivation to keep striving and learning! Love love this show from day one
I miss my musician bf.. we used to travel for recharging & inspiration.. and i miss the banter.. you get better if you have someone who's straight up honest for facts, not to bring you down.. to make you better at what you do & as a person.. no matter how long it takes.
how many times have you texted him since the break up? be honest
I want tina to “adopt” her so bad
I think she cares and we know from the show she loves to take care of people. I think it’s more so about vulnerability. She’s cagey about telling Carmy about her mom which is understandable and this may inform how she feels about Marcus and his mom. He’s been going through this for years so a break probably helped. I think she took Carmy’s words too much to heart and that makes her way more invested than people normally are and contributes to more self implosions.
He always touches Syd but whats her face had to initiate 😅😂 ijs
If these scenes alone doesnt show u they should be together u jus dont wanna see it
i heard of pots and pans but jeans is crazy lmao
Idk... But I just want them to be successful in their business together.
when carm finds out marcus asked her out and sends him away again 😭
6:29 this is crazy. if only he followed through.
HE COPIED HER WHISTLE OR DID SHE GET THAT FROM HIM?
literally moments before disaster
Sorry No..I lke Syd shes great shes Ambitious thats what ties her to Carmy- its Not Romantic- I liked Claire cause she added calmness & genuine love to Carmys life-- he needs a soft place to fall-- Claire would give him that but Syd is here to learn & progress not to be in love..but they make a Great Work team with a Friendship!
The calmness that was giving him multiple panic attacks and sleepless nights? LMAO
Notice how on opening night everything went to shit the moment he goes out there to see Claire?
It's counting crows. If they were gen x, this scene would be done.
Don't know why Sydney cut him off talking about her dad
Probably because it was in the script
@@JamesCM86lol
I guess because she wasn't ready yet to tell Carmy about her mom and talking about her dad would have inevitably led to questions about her mom…
not romantic but not platonic a third different thing (so devoted the lines blur)
Even the tape this shit is so real
Why did she look like that when she walked in his apartment?
Because his apartment has no decor, he has no pictures hanged up etc… it’s very blank
Because she smelled freshly baked jeans when she walked in.
@@HazelDellunderrated comment. LMAO
Claire did nothing to him. Misplaced responsibility and perceiving it this way isn’t right
Plantonic soulmates
That can easily grow into romantic soulmates
Soulmates*
@@Nyjae8Either way, I’m down.
What's "plantonic"?
She can do way better
At what?
so can he 🤨
I honestly really don't think their relationship is romantic. I really hope they don't go down that route in season 3. They seem WAY more like family.
👎👎
Carmy loves everyone on the team
It may get there but its gonna happen well after Carmen forms a relationship...with a therapist. Cause that dude is fucked mentally. Being in a kitchen is where he is at his best; however, the anxiety and pressure he feels is not good for him mentally.
me when i’m purposely blind and deaf
Oh my gosh, I surely hope it does not go there. She's a dingbat compared to him.
He needs to decorate his place. It so sad the real actor only befriended his lady in real life or date her and then left she and the kids as soon as he got famous/ he has a new lady already.
Was it the fame? I thought she cheated on him. Who knows though.
@@jeanbastien9424Unfortunately this is the case with a lot of men I've noticed, Ethan Slater, Barry Keoghnan... All suddenly not with their old partners anymore whom they just recently had a baby with after they got famous, but suddenly dating other famous women instead
Jeremy was famous before The Bear and he's spotted with his kids & ex-wife almost every week, even while filming
1) He has been a star since he was young
2) She left him because he has drinking problems
I hate the root of wanting these two to be in love it hasn’t ever felt right to me. Better off being a team with cooking
Well poor you
@@biharcourt shut up little lady

I love them together, but as friends. Pls someone tell me I'm not the only one who wants Sydney to be gay haha.
It’s okay and normal for black women to be loved and desired by a white guy.
No!!!
@@ms.bubs4fun506exactly yes
Why do you want her to be gay?
You're the only one.
I'm probably the only person here who thinks that Syd's character could be better served by a MUCH better actress.
Yes you’re correct troll, here is the attention you so desperately need
that’s what I like about her though, she’s comes off really natural which I feel like is common for actors that aren’t professionally trained, but I have no idea if she was or not, she might have been.
mm yeah youre the only one
But clearly the writers, directors, producers, all the folks who sat in on the auditions and chemistry reads, big money investors etc.... thought otherwise.
Probably yes
He loves Claire. This is a work relationship
Then why has he not talked to her for a whole season after knowing that she loves him?
@@Keesha_Hardy Because he’s obsessed with getting a Michelin star and proving to the bullying chef that he can achieve that. He becomes driven. The whole season is about how he has ONE goal in mind - that star. At the end of episode 10, the bullying chef actually reminds Carmy that it was the aim of all the rough treatment - to “get rid of all the bullshit”. It has been ingrained in him to concentrate and focus to “get great” - to achieve excellence.
@@Keesha_Hardy it’s Claire he has sexual dreams about. It’s about Claire that he says “she’s peace”. It’s Claire that occupies his thighs when you see the montages - wonderful intimate scenes like kissing her, and imagining he sees her in the street. He has affection and respect for Sydney, but now the restaurant is operating, she has been relegated to work colleague. His invitation for her to attend the Ever party was as a colleague. They didn’t arrive together, he paid her no attention and he abandoned her there. They have a relationship but it’s not a “heart” relationship. She doesn’t appear in his dreams.
don't know about the girls acting
It is subtle and real
She's amazing
Why? Cause you're so used to watching shitty movies?
The Emmys and Golden Globes don't know about it either 🙄
I hate Syd.
Congrats
Then don't watch
Ur a weirdo
Everyone hates you too
Yeah well I hate Claire....so you can like or hate who you want and I will like or hate who I want....and I say that Carmy has way better chemistry with Sydney!
They’re gonna end up hkn up im telling you rn
And I hope they do because Carmy & Sydney are awesome together!
