    My grandparents used “tuk muk soy”. They were from Moi Yan. 😀

    Good job. Your Hakka is exactly the same as mine although I was from Sabah, Malaysia. I shared it with my daughter so that she can learn some Hakka to teach my granddaughter a few words of Hakka.
    Dook mook soi is more like feeling sleepy.

      @@inmimisbowl I am also hakka from sarawak malaysia. I would have never thought theres hakka in suriname till i met my friend Leo here in New Jersey...sounds exactly the same

    thank you for the videos, my grandma passed away 10 years ago and It have been difficult to pick up my little knowledge in the chinese language from our family, at home we had both cantonese and hakka, I didnot get to learn mucho while younger, now at 37 yo I feel nostalgic and would like to pick it up... RUclips has been very helpfull

    This is pretty much the same as Hong Kong Hakka. Congee (kon-gee) is the proper name for rice porridge.

    The frying technique used in "炒飯" is stir frying. Pan frying is "煎", an easy example would be potstickers.

    My mom is hakka, hongkong hakka. My mom never spoke hakka to us. But most of it i understand. Keep making these video's

    Dook mook soy can be used to describe someone who’s failing asleep. For example if a young child is watching tv and is falling asleep but is trying to stay awake.

    I think “ngai oi” means I want to, whereas “ngai siong” means I am thinking of.

    You are fantastic! Your Hakka sounds exactly like what my family speak, I’m brushing up because I’m not speaking it much these days. Thank you so much! I just remember when I am wasting time (eg sit on toilet) my mum might say “ne jo mak-gi an gui aw, ki di lah!!!!” 😂

    Hello ! For me "tuk mo soy" means to be sleepy and "tsu mok soy" means will fall asleep soon

    I heard there's like 10 or more dialects of Hakka itself, how do I make sure I'm learning the same kind that my friend speaks? She's from Jiangxi if it helps.

    I grew up speaking Hakka, but for our family, porridge in Hakka is ‘gaang qiang’
    I want to eat porridge, would be “ngai oi sit gaang qiang “ for us

      That's interesting! We would use "ngai oi" and "ngai siong" interchangeably in this context. I've never said gaang qiang though. Thanks for watching :)

      @@inmimisbowl "gaang gaang" is more like a thin pudding for small infants. i believe"juk" is rice porridge/congee.

      Ngai xiong seet fan ( 我想吃饭), I am thinking of eating rice. Ngai oi seet fan(我要吃饭), I want to eat rice. That's how I understand the ngai xiong and ngai oi.

    Hakka dialect !! Chaozhou !!! Fujian !! Taishan !! These dialects are not popular spoken throughout .. the 2 main ones are Mandarin and Cantonese !! Mandarin and Cantonese are top spoken throughout..
