As a reminder for everyone, you can leave feedback to Nintendo about the app. There's a survey where you can write what you like and what you don't.

    On the album artwork thingy:
    1) I assume they went this route because a large chunk of Nintendo games don't have official soundtrack releases, and thus no artwork to pull from. At least this way, it gives you an idea of where the song is played, but I wish they did a little more, at least remove UI elements.
    2) Nearly every Splatoon 3 song has actual album artwork, not because of soundtrack releases (although every game and DLC has had them in Japan), but because of in-game custom album art for every fake "band" performing the soundtrack. This has been done to slightly lesser extents in previous games but they still are well-documented. It kinda makes the screenshot thing more glaring but I myself appreciate how much Splatoon values its music and the in-game culture it has developed for itself

I never even considered Smash Bros... Licencing all of those tracks sounds like a monumental task Nintendo wouldn't be willing to take on. BUT maybe I'm wrong. We did see Xenoblade Chronicles X come back on Switch and all of those songs are owned by Sony. So we'll see

the way they not crediting their artist is a very Japanese thing i heard about, i find that to be kind of interesting how different corporate Japan is from us

@@Yoshizuyuner Sure, but 1 that's still not a good reason and 2) they do credit them on most of their CD releases (which are weirdly exclusive to Japan for the most part). So while Nintendo is usually bad at this, there is some established precedent of them breaking this trend which makes it even more frustrating. Wish I brought this up in the video but it slipped my mind.

I honestly don't mind the way they went about giving people an official way to listen to music. I just think it's such a Nintendo thing to do:
To say "You're not supposed to be doing that, that's our stuff" and then proceed to take down their music left and right, provide NO IMMEDIATE ALTERNATIVE, and then take their sweet ass time to come up with this... hhhhh....
They could have just had a Nintendo - Topic RUclips channel like everyone else. But their solution is fine
