I'm really proud of how well we handled our first multi-day hike. It may not be impressive to more seasoned hikers but it was a beautiful experience for us and I'm glad we get to bring yall with us.
stoats are universally portrayed in villainy in the redwall series of books from the 1900s, it's good to know they were at least to some degree accurate. great job on everything! looking forward to the next episode :D
Absolutely gorgeous scenery! It's so exciting you were able to get footage of the birds! I'm now going to be calling all diversions off the main course side quests.
Amazing premiere, Claire! I’m glad you and Justin went on this amazing hike and filmed it so I could watch from the comfort of my air-conditioned home with a cat cuddling on my lap! 🤣
What an introduction!!!! Love all of it from the beginning to the end! ❤ Thank you for sharing the experience step by step, you are truly talented! Loved it!
Wow, what an incredible adventure! Watching your video of hiking the Milford Track brought back so many amazing memories for me. The stunning landscapes, challenging trails, and the sense of accomplishment at the end made it a truly unforgettable experience. Thanks for sharing your journey, and inspiring others to get out and explore nature's wonders! Keep up the great work!
You guys have done a fantastic job with this video. We are so pleased we did it at the same time as you guys, now we have a great video to remember it by.
Absolutely stunning video! The compositions, the colours, everything is just perfect. People like you motivate others to go outside and explore. Congratulations, excellent job!
Loved seeing your Milford Movie - brought back lots of memories. You got some great footage. Far better than our phone snaps! I was the lady that found your tripod and also slept on the floor of the kitchen due to the TERRIBLE snorer lol! That was also the night our daughter was vomiting but she somehow managed to walk over McKinnon pass the next day (she's tough!) and finished the hike with a smile on her face. Hope the rest of your travels in NZ were fun. The Flemings (Dunedin).
Oh no! I’m glad your daughter is ok and I’m sorry for the rough night’s sleep. It’s so fun to be able to share the video with so many of y’all that were there with us.
High Five, Claire & Justin. I thoroughly enjoyed this -thankyou. Everytime you mentioned Sandflies, I am sure their something was crawling up my leg !!
Claire: Karate!!! Everyone Else: Go inside!!!! LOLLL That was my FAVORITE. Also that DOC ranger was adorbs. I'm curious if they serve coffee made from those berries he mentioned at the fancy hut with the tea and scones.
Something tells me they didn’t resort to tree coffee for the people paying thousands of dollars for a hike 😅 That would be pretty cool if they did though!
You absolutely have to have a booking. They need to be booked almost a year in advance and it’s really hard to get a spot because they all fill up almost immediately. We were able to grab a cancelation spot only a few months beforehand but that was just pure luck.
Check the New Zealand DOC (Department of Conservation) website for availability. They open the dates around June most years and sell out fast. I checked the DOC webpage almost every day to snag those last-minute spots, so its possible! You can also book with an agency like UltimateHikes for a guided tour and stay at the "fancy" huts, they don't sell out as fast due to the price.
Hi Claire. Could you tell me which month you did this hike? You've gotten me interested 🙂 Also, did you find the large organized groups an issue in any way? And finally, if money no object, would you have gone with an organized group with all their luxuries? Great video. Thanks.
We hiked in late January and the weather was perfect. For my first time walking the track our goal was to challenge our bodies, so I definitely would have still done it the less expensive way even if money was no object. Doing it again I'd love to try the pampered route though. We had 0 issues with anyone on the trail, everyone was really respectful and lovely.
I loved this video, so inspiring!! I can see videos for Nz were posted 3-4weeks ago but how long did production/editing take (what month did you hike in?)

What a wonderful trail! Do you booked the cabin before you started the trip or just went into it?

@@justinblacktravels so much thanks for the tips!
The worst part about a Claire Trips is it has to end. 😞
Amazing cinemaphotography, and good shots, . A lot of those scenes could make a great wall picture even. Rich colours too. What camera did you use?
We had a couple cameras with us, all our gear is listed in the description. Thanks for watching!
Hi there, may I ask when you did this walk? We’re doing this walk in January and very excited. You’re video is really awesome btw!
Thanks! We hiked it in late January and the weather was perfect.
Did you guys need also sleeping pad in the huts or it is not important? Thank you, going to hike it tmrw 😅😊
Nope, the mattresses they provided were fine, enjoy your hike!

This trip was in January to the beginning of February of this year. This series took about 6 months to edit. Thanks for watching!
