Thank you for watching today's Dragonlance Setting video. Do you have a favorite race listed? Would you ever play a creature style race in a campaign? Leave a comment below.
I'm currently playing a goblin in a DL campaign. Before the game started, only the DM knew anything about DL, but finding your channel helped the whole group, including the DM, learn more about this setting.
I have a fondness for Goblins but I tend to play them more like Ferengi mixed with the Harry Potter Goblins. I also have played a Minotaur druid which was a lot of fun.
I wished you picked a different pic for the Hobgoblins but when it comes down to Goblinoids a Hobgoblin is probably the only Goblinoid that a DM will let you play as in a Dragonlance campaign if they want to be true to the setting because they have been split into two groups uncivilised Hobgoblins are the ones who are most likely to fight for the dragon queen and than you have the civilised Hobgoblins who are more interested in living a peaceful life you can find these Hobgoblins in cities or in tribes these two groups do not get along with each other for obvious reasons
I've played a character of virtually every race in a lot of D&D settings. A lot of players tend to be drawn towards character concepts due to certain themes or artwork--animalistic characters benefit from this source greatly--but it's important to know what sort of story you're shooting for. Nothing is more aimless then trying to go for a character just for looks or for a particular character build to break the game, in my opinion and experience. Knowing the theme of story the Dungeon Master wishes to tell and coming up with a story for your own character to have that goes along with it or alongside it can vastly improve one's enjoyment of the game overall. That being said, I do find myself more drawn towards Draconians, Dragonborn, Minotaurs, the various feline races of various worlds, and such. Overall, like all things, communication is vastly important to establish expectations and desires.
@@DLSaga Curious though--are there more feline races in Krynn? I doubt there are, but knowing WotC, they'll probably try to hamfist a lot of races in there with the new book.
@@DLSaga I hear that, Mr. Saga. When I first read Races of Ansalon you won’t believe how disappointed I was to see not art and only the vaguest description for both the Tarmaks and their two client races. Their full body protection tattoos are an ingenious nugget of lore and the mystery surrounding their home continent is a real attention grabber! A story set in that part of Krynn (I forgot the continents name) would be a tantalizing opportunity to put the old imagination to work, but that doesn’t seem very likely to happen; or any new Dragonlance stories for that matter.
Can you tell us something about the other continent? According to my DM, it was mostly--if not completely--ignored by DL's creators and content creators.
I can. I covered a lot of Taladas in the Lands of Krynn episode: ruclips.net/video/GgS2jRF6x5Y/видео.html There is also a great trilogy set in Taladas and DC comics series that covered it.

An old friend of mine played Minotaur's almost exclusively. I have never played a Goblin. Was the campaign a creature based one?
this channel is amazing
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
Oh the Thanoi sounds a lot of fun in a winter like campaign. Like a group stuck in the tundras and have to fight or flight from them!
Yes, I would love to run a one off adventure like that.
There is a great book where where these creatures in it.
Thank you for posting.
You’re welcome!
Thumbed up before the intro even over. I know it's gonna be good.
Thank you!

This is great advice on choosing the right creature for the campaign. Thank you!

I'm wondering if they'll just say Dragonborn and Draconians are the same thing on Krynn for the new book.
Finally! You’re talking about the Tarmaks.
It took a bit but I got there. I wish there were more paintings or illustrations of them.

A half goblin may be an interesting option to play.
Yea, I like the inherent complexity with the disparate cultures and biases.

which one adlatum or taladas?
@@daemonisedone4256 Taladas. Ansalon is the primary continent.
