RIP Jimmy Wopo. He was different. He stuck to the basics of song-writing. These kids think repeating a single word over and over makes a hook. Whereas Jimmy was making full, fleshed-out songs with an element of story-telling spliced in. He was a street dude who had an ear for unique beats. It makes the song more animated in that way when you pick eclectic cartoonish beats as he did on 'Elm Street.' Just look at Cypress Hill: they made street music yet they had the weirdest samples and beat selections of their era of gangster rap. Sucks he had to go cause of some gang shit. Dude was a character and from watching his interviews, he was also a smart young man with a willingness to learn.

Some of the truest shit I've seen in some comments. People always wanna compare Pittsburgh to somewhere else but they don't know the history and culture. Damn near every hood in the city has its own slang. After the civil war a lot of people moved north and many settled in Pittsburgh which is why it has kind of a southern influence mixed in that you can still notice today. Also a lot of old 90s west coast rap was produced by Pittsburgh producers. People say we sound like this or that when really the city just ain't getting it's credit for a lot of shit because people don't pay attention unless they know about it or are from here
