Bro... YOU KILLED IT! Who would have thought it would go so hard! I wish the original had as good a mix as this. I feel they need to bump up John Myung's bass part in the original. It's way too guitar 🎸 heavy with a lead tone instead of rhythm tone. You are awesome. If they ever make an 8 bit style computer game this track got to be on it!
Fun fact... I was introduced to Dream Theater at 14 years old through video games. My friends and I mailed a letter to the editor of Die Hard Gamefan magazine wanting to know how the music to the game Lord's of Thunder sounded like. The editor Dave Halverson wrote us a letter back with a cassette tape 📼 of Images & Words! My childhood friends and I have been lifelong Dream Theater fans ever since! 🎸
I transcribe the song using Guitar Pro, trying to make it as accurate as possible. Then, I export to MIDI and import into FL Studio where I have a bunch of NES soundfonts set up. I manually go through the song and remove notes until the NES polyphony limit is respected.
Awesome job.
Ayyy Jordan. Can't wait to see you guys in Portland on Feb 28th! I haven't seen you guys play the Keller Auditorium since the Astonishing tour.
Omg the wizard himself
@@Alamar1 I was probably there too!
Love the new song Jordan!!
The man himself!
A Wild Mike Portnoy appeared!
I never would have even considered 8-bit DT to be possible, but man this is so cool.
You GOTTA check Stream of Consciousness 8bit version then, it's very good
Dream Theater needs to have this playing over the speakers before the show starts. This is incredible.
@@bighugenews I would lose my mind if that happened - it has happened once before with Haken so who knows, anything's possible
Congrats on your marriage and first child! Great remix as usual!
This is just confirmation bias for the Castlevania vibes I get from this song.
Sounds like some badass video game boss music right at 1:30 yessss nice work
The intro through the first verse-ish could easily be a boss fight theme for any number of 8-bit classics. Total banger, nice job
6:56 Pokemon Battle
AGREED! jajajajja
This will change me from listening to the original song and the covers over and over. Thanks!!
Doing God's work, my dude! Glad you're still onto this shenanigans.
Congrats on the marriage and baby! Cheers from Rio!
8:09 so good!

Amazing work!! rawk!!
They should play this version on the tour.
Sounds like it should be in a Castlevania game from Wayback when.
Castlevania is Metal AF! Look up Dracula Battle 1 and 2. You will come back to this comment to thank me later!

3:48 sounds like you triggered an enemy encounter
A wild MIKE PORTNOY appeared!
