We didn't find any OGD Bonded until after this video, but we really like it. Haven't come across any Barton yet. Hopefully we'll track some down this year!
You have a few years to stock up since Sazerac bought the Brown Forman stock. Believe it or not, ET BiB has the same mash bill as King of Kentucky. It doesn't use the same old Brown Forman mash bill. I heard this from Chris Morris himself on the Bourbon Pursuit podcast.
I've had the EW and the Old Tub, and I enjoy both of them. Just picked up an EW 1783, and that was good as well. These supplement my $60-$70 bourbons wonderfully.
I love old tub I bought it on a him last year when my My regulars weren’t on the shelf and thought it would be going into cocktails and ended up sipping it away and going back for more it was on sale at one point for $16 a bottle I thought it was surprisingly good and love the old classic label and “Old Tub” might be one of the best names in Bourbon OldTub
Loved this video and the conversation. The only one I have not had is Early Times and sadly it is not available here. I would need to do them blind, but as a Jim Beam fan I think I would put Old tub than EW than JTS brown. Cheers!
When I started my journey four months ago Early Times was a very good pour for me, but I’ve come a long way fast and I don’t touch it anymore. I really am preferring the mid to upper level pours. My everyday drinkers are Knob Creek 12 yr, Rare Breed, ECBP BP, Larceny BP, JDSBBP, Sagamore’s, Bakers 7, Bookers, Knob Creek 18yr, Redbreast 12 & 21 yr, Heaven Hill 7 yr!
That's a tough habit to break, for sure. Since we recorded this video, we got into the Old Grand-Dad Bonded and have really enjoyed it. We're looking forward to putting another blind tasting together with a couple more budget options soon.
I love old tub I bought it on a him last year when my My regulars weren’t on the shelf and thought it would be going into cocktails and ended up sipping it away and going back for more it was on sale at one point for $16 a bottle I thought it was surprisingly good and love the old classic label and “Old Tub” might be one of the best names in Bourbon - Going to the liquor store right now to lock down the rest of the early times that they have
You know, the funny thing is that we discovered OGD Bonded, Old Tub's sibling this year, and it's now our daily drinker. You just never know what's going to hit your palate. Cheers!
Great vid. Old Forester 100, while not BiB, is a great pour from Brown Foreman. I have settled on it as my replacement for ET BiB when I can't get my hands on it any more.
We really like that OF 100 bottle as well, though we think it drinks a little hotter than Early Times BiB. We do find that when we get down to the halfway point of an OF 100 bottle, it presents a delicious maple note. It's definitely a suitable replacement.
Great video as always! I love the Early times and Evan Williams. Cannot get JTSB here in Georgia (looked in 15 stores). Too many negative reviews for me to want to try Old Tub
I finally found JTSB (in Portland where my daughter and her family live) for 20 bucks. It's good. I am looking forward to blinding it against my other bourbons.
I finally found Early Times BiB... WOW! Not sure what I was expecting, maybe something closer to Evan Williams BiB, but WOW!! I'm stocking up before it possibly goes away.
Early times bib is catching on everywhere. I love it. I really don’t think Sazerac will get rid of it. I see them making it available everywhere and doing a line extension like Weller or Benchmark. I think I’m going to start buying a bottle every time I see it. Probably going to be hard to find!
We totally agree with this assessment. It would be a huge mistake to mess with such a beloved brand and product at this point. We've seen a couple tiny updates to the label, which gives us hope that it's just a change in ownership and nothing more.
They have already made early times allocated, and the price has gone up about $5 a bottle in North Texas. I predict it will more than double in price and go to a 1/5. Then just disappear completely. Brown Foreman didn’t sell the mash bill and thank god for that. Eventually it will become available again under another or altogether new name and under Brown Foreman. See you in 10 years.
hahaha, how many times did you laugh through the "Budget Bottled in Bond Bourbon Breakdown" I couldnt even say it once. Looks like now I have to try the Early Times. Ive heard great things but I do love the Evan Williams. Awesome review, Cheers.
I love all of these, particularly EW BIB in 1.75L coming in at about $30 here in Portland Oregon, except I haven't tried Early Times. Not even sure if it's available at my liquor store as I tend to pick up any of the ~$20 BIB offerings, will definitely keep an eye out for it.
Sorry for the off-topic question, but do you two run as well as drink bourbon? I've noticed you wearing brands like Brooks and Craft and was curious if that was yet another interest I share with you guys. Regardless, thanks for the great videos.
Hey Josh, we are runners. Phil has run several marathons and ultras. Julie has run lots of trail and road races and is training for her first marathon. Cheers!
Old tub is scarce in lagrange ga i saw one bottle theres 10 stores here in march 2021 i bought it it was $30 i isually drink $30 and under bourbons try Dickle 12 $21 out door 90 proof 1792 is god also its $27 out door
Right on about ET BIB. Also love EW and OT. Can’t get JTS BROWN here in Texas. All great value EW $14. OT$18 and ET BIB $20. I got a case of ET if you ever run out. I was afraid Sazerac would discontinue. Love your channel. PS. 1792 BIB is very good but $35 Russell’s Reserve 10 yr for $30 is another great value
Wow, your prices in TX are considerably lower than ours here in OR. We love that Russell's Reserve too. It's one of our favorite bottles to pass around a campfire. Thanks for the love!
Have you tried the new bottle Early Times BIB yet? Do you notice any real difference other than batch variance? We can get 1L here for $18.99. Maybe new BIB/100 proof budget bourbon matchup - new label ET vs OGD vs Benchmark and if you widen the requirements to be budget 100 proof throw in Wild Turkey 101 and Old Forester 100?
Never had the JTS Brown or Early Times. I have had the Old Tub and Evan Williams. I preferred the Evan Williams over the Old Tub. Will have to see if I can find the others.
Early Times is perfect for the price as a liter. At $50 it’s still the best. Go buy a case of ET. I keep buying them when I see them and there is always plenty to go around. I never buy the last one on the shelf.
We had reps from Sazerac and Brown-Forman insist that the brand isn't going anywhere over the last month. They even insist the recipe won't change. It's tough to believe, but maybe it really was just a throw-in with a larger sale. Who knows?
@@TheBourbonVan Thanks for the info. I just checked locally and in another state with no luck. So many 'tubers are loving it's made it hard for us slow moving cuvi4lians
@@TheBourbonVan even if the brand and mashbill doesn’t change, it won’t be aging in the same distillery, this a new product. Old Grand Dad BiB should have been a contender in this.
I find it hard to believe that anyone can taste as many flavors as claimed. This makes me skeptical of these comparisons. It's not just this couple. All of these reviewers do the same thing. And how do you rate wine or whiskey without drinking water or eating something to cleanse the palette? And you need to rate without revealing your choices lest you influence the other people rating.
Wow, lots to discuss here. You need to understand that all of these videos are heavily edited. We reset our palates with water and take extended breaks to keep from overwhelming our senses. It takes multiple hours just to properly film a 4-bottle tasting. Are you new to whiskey? It takes time to develop your palate and every palate is different. We disagree on flavors in different whiskeys all the time. We provide honest reviews for everyday drinkers. We're not experts and don't claim to be. If we can help novice drinkers make more informed decisions at the liquor store or bar, then our goals are achieved. We spend days recording, editing, designing, and publishing videos. And we spend hours every week trying to respond to as many comments as possible. We receive ad revenue and Patreon support, but it doesn't even pay the costs to run the channel. This is a passion project for us. For you to accuse us of being disingenuous is disturbing and offensive. This isn't a cash grab or attention whoring. You're receiving this information/entertainment for free because we enjoy sharing our own whiskey journey. Don't forget: you choose what to watch.
Excellent episode. I’ve been drinking bourbon since 1992 and still can’t distinguish flavors, etc…..either it’s good bourbon or it’s not!!! :-)
Well said, Doug. Personal preference is all that matters!
Old Grandad BiB,Very Old Barton, and Old Forester 100 are definitely worth a try as well :)
We didn't find any OGD Bonded until after this video, but we really like it. Haven't come across any Barton yet. Hopefully we'll track some down this year!
Didnt like very old barton i bought a big bottle it tasted too much like tea which i hate but it got drank 🤣

Cheers, Michael! We’re glad you found us too!
Bro she finished all glasses a true taste tester
Stumbled across your channel the other day. I love it. My wife can't even look at brown liquor so I'm a bit envious. Keep up the fine work.
Haha, thanks Todd! We sometimes call it "brown wine" around here, so maybe it's just a naming issue.
Same here. Stumbled upon the reddit challenge and enjoyed it so I subscribed. And same with the wife. Great channel thus far.

This is a fun blind challenge. All are cheap enough that it’s worth a shot!
To me Old Tub was a great whiskey i aint seen but one bottle since spring 2021 i bought it $30
My blinds for Bottled in Bond I had Old Grand-dad on the top of the list. Maybe include that sometime.
We discovered OGD Bonded a couple months after we filmed this one last year. It’s our new go-to. We love it.

I always look past the cheap stuff (former scotch snob), gonna have to give the EW BiB a chance

I agree. OF Sig. (100 proof) is one of my fav. 100 proofers. Love ET Bib, too. Hope they don't mess with it. Also love Knob Creek small batch (9 yr.)

Great video. Spot on!
That ET is a great budget bourbon, but I can get the JTS Brown for $10.99 locally which puts it in the top spot among value pours for me!
Yeah, that would do the trick! That’s a great deal.
I finally found Early Times BiB... WOW! Not sure what I was expecting, maybe something closer to Evan Williams BiB, but WOW!! I'm stocking up before it possibly goes away.
Alright! It's brilliant, isn't it?
We like the ET BiB as well. Think Barton would make it if they tried to keep the same bottle going?
Good question. No idea really. All we know is we love it and we’re still finding it on shelves at the moment.
