    I remember doubling back on the road the first time I saw a db90. Spent 5 years running a 24r30 and in our territory that's still too big, so we traded to a modern 12r30. There's places they just don't fit, but it's cool to see big bars in their natural habitat.

      Yea come east, JD is telling us to retool to 16 row. They are telling us these x9 combines won’t do well with 12 rows. We have fields that 8 rows are to big. The 780s work pretty good with 8 and 12 rows. We trade 2-S780s every year and now they are going to have nothing available for us

    So what is the secondary market for these things, who's gonna buy it used? Way to big for 99% of operations and the guys who can use them, want new ones. So who will use it once they trade it off?

    250 units of seed should do 600+ acres, not 80!

      @MrTjulius Год назад +1

      Should hold 125 units or so, depending on population around 2.5 acres per unit.

      I think he is doing beans which has a much higher population

    Who spends that kind of kind of money and gets a 9520 instead of a 9640😂😂? Grandpa must have closed the check book after the first $2.5 million.

      Track size more than likely. Their are varying degrees of controlled traffic farming one can take. The 1st step would be to not plant in wheel tracks. That row will make 20-30% more. I have piles of data since 2001 that proves it. You can go to more narrow tracks on a 520/540 and drive over less rows.
      The biggest benefit of a 120’ planter would be to maintain a perfect 3:1 controlled traffic set up, and still use a decent sized header. We’re only 30’ and 90’. We started out CTF with 20’ headers, and retired Stine seed DB60 twin 20 planters. I took the concept over to some DB120 planters I dragged out of the weeds, but had to pull the wings off because they were too heavy. Thus they are 90’.
      The right way to farm, is what works for you. Their is nothing genius about my methods. We do what we do because we are a zero input operation. Cover crops, cattle and sunshine, that’s it. Believe me, our yields show it, but our soil isn’t suffering or being mined out. I put up a picture frame layered with gold leaf around the dent in my office wall from the potted plant I threw at the last salesman who used the term “ROI” with me.
