Ellen is the reason I started playing bass to begin with. As a small, but grown, woman who's hands are probably still the same size as hers, I was told I had to pick something other than bass.
Her playing so well reminds me of a story I heard about a man who learned Arabic as his second language, then went on to become a number one author in it. A man asked him how he could also get so good at a language, that he could become one of the best in the world, even as a non-native speaker, and the author told him "It is not possible."
The other man, confused, said "Well, if it is not possible, how did you do it?" And the author told him "I didn't know it wasn't possible then, so I just did it."
If Angus and Malcolm Young can play guitars that are clearly too big for them, there is no reason you can't play bass.

Oh, wow, Ellen's voice is as beautiful as her bass playing. Watching her get better and better each year is such a treat. I wish I had realized how much fun bass was when I was her age, but I didn't start learning bass until my mid-20s.
Yes, watching her grow up and get even better on the bass is truly heartwarming AND inspiring. Her vocal accompaniment is just WOW! She did a good job channeling Jaco on Weather Report as well.

I started at 26 after a lifetime of believing that, as a woman who has exceptionally small hands for a woman (aka child-sized), that I could never be good at bass. Then I came across Ellen and placed my order for my vass like 3 videos in.
She's also why I got a 5 string as my first. Everyone told me more strings meant needing bigger hands, but now I know that's a very dumb way to look at it. My 5-string often allows me to play without having to move nearly as much.
My 2nd bass will property be a 6 string or another 5 string in a multi scale. Gone are the days of listening to big handed people tell me what is and isn't possible for me.

@Darknamja I always chuckle when I see that college. I got mail from them when I was in high school (I played clarinet. Stop laughing).
Years and years later, I did some time at North Texas and had a few friends in the music school there. I learned that Berklee students frequently never graduate because the school is so good, that student careers take off long before graduation comes along.
