I was in the first OVAC All-Star band, representing Paden City High School, playing alto sax, in 1982. It was a great experience, and I was very fortunate to share the field with some of the most talented, dedicated, and fun-loving kids in the Ohio Valley. It was especially interesting to march and play with kids from bands who had been our "arch-rivals" in marching (and jazz) band competitions for years, like John Marshall and Oak Glenn HS. I'm proud to have been part of the beginning of this tradition, and happy to see that it continues to this day.
