- Description: One of Amtrak’s Avelia Liberty Trainsets we’re making a trip to Boston for about few days to conduct crew familiarization for Zone 1. We start off in Westport on the 1905 era Saugatuck River Drawbridge. Next, I race over to West Haven where he slows on approach to New Haven. Then I head over to New London where we get to listen to it’s “glorious” two chime horn being used for the railroad crossings. Finally on Thursday Night, it was making it way back to Philadelphia so I popped over to Old Saybrook where we ‘really’ get to listen to its majestic horn as it breezes by.

Thanks For Watching!!!
I know lots of people aren't too fond of the European style horn on the Avelia, but I'm liking it more and more only because it is just so unique. Nothing here in the States sounds like that. We have enough K5LAs and other such chime horns. The two-tone horn is something different to listen to. Plus, it's kinda cute. LOL!
Yeah it is kinda cute. And adorable!
How about how slow it’s going? Not impressed at all. Thought it was supposed to go 200mph+
@@redsox1935 your a disgrace to the RedSox pal
I mean, that is what the TGV has for their High-speed trains. ^w^
It gives the impression that we have the first European HST trains here in the States! 😁
I think it's hilarious, especially when they do a hi-lo sequence.
I love the Euro Style Two Toned honrns! Way better horns than we have here in the states!
I agree! It reminds me of the French TGVs horn I love it!
Great video! The look of them is starting to grow on me..
This train wants to get down… it’s the infrastructure… New London was like a Chiron stuck in bumper to bumper traffic 😊
2:23 You know the vibes of TGV
I just hope that at least one Acela is presserved and not all of them get scrapped after they get replaced by these
I really love the old Acela
It is a damning indictment of Connecticut’s rail system that it’s possible to chase a high speed train with a car across the state. The rest of the Corridor does great, but Connecticut is awful.
I will never get over that horn, why can't we get a proper horn on these
Because these trains already have a superior horn. Why would they downgrade?
Because the train is EU based. The horn sounds unique, idk why you're so against them
Because they would install a GEVO style horn 💀
I’m not sure how I feel about the shape of the coaches not being symmetrical to the shape of the locomotives….
Why can't they use both horns at the same time to make a 2 chime sound?
I'm not a musician, but from what I know of music theory, I think they could set up a 5 chime horn, where both the top and bottom 3 notes would form a good sounding horn that could be used as a high low, and all 5 could form a different chord when played together
Is the white discoloration in the triangle pattern something new? I've never noticed it before and i hate it.
A lot of flat spots on that Avelia consist!
Don't listen to them, they don't understand that the K5LA air horn will save all. Praise the K5LA!!!!
(I'm joking, 2-tone horns are silly and fun)
Hello! I’m AcelaRailfan2255 but people tend to call me by my real name “Matt”, anyways I am making a documentary on the Avelia Liberty but I simply do not have enough clips of the train to add into my documentary, so I am asking if it would be okay for me to take one of the Avelia Liberty clips from this video for me to add into my documentary, if you were to agree I would put credits to your channel when the clip was played during my video, anyways I understand if you do not want me to do this, but I am asking to be nice, because a lot of other people would just steal other peoples content but that’s not the type of person I am, anyways let me know what you think! - AcelaRailfan2255.
As long as the proper credit you stated is included, you may use whatever needed in this video. -ALM
@@a.l.m.trains thank you, this is a big help, while the clip plays I will put credit to your channel in the corner
Wow dude the avelia liberty sets are getting ready to replaced the aging 6 car Acela sets
I think the livery of the trains would be great if only the power cars lined up with the coaches, at least make the paint match up since it's unrealistic to change the shape. As for the horn, I'm fine with two tone horns in general but I can't say they chose the best sounds for the Avelia, I'd prefer a different sound or just the K5LA again
The power car was designed for a duplex coach
The shape is different because the power cars don’t tilt and the coaches do
Give it a nathon p5
Or maybe a Holden K3L.
sorry to the ones that love the horn but its a little goofy
Train is gorgeous but the horn is lame
I won't ever get over the horn on these. It's atrocious and completely ruins them for me.
Honestly, the whole design of these things feels like an afterthought. Could they not have just made the coaches *FLUSH WITH THE POWER CARS?*
They look terrible, but ultimately won't matter much when viewed going by at 200mph, so whatever. I still hate them though.
The paint scheme could be better too. I don't like how the coaches just look like a ripoff of the Intercity 125, and I feel that they should have stuck with the original concept design and color scheme. It was so much better, and would fit in with Amtrak's new Paint scheme. Plus, both *ACTUALLY LOOKED GOOD.*
*These things just make Amtrak look worse than it already does with everything that's going on.*
Bunch of yap. These trains are the greatest thing to touch America since the Acela.
@@kiwikewi I choose to disagree.
The nose on that train is so ugly, don't tell me that's actually replacing Acela?
Lol, literally no one but some teenage foamers agree with this take. These trains look incredible! The average paying passenger loves these! They are the future personified!
And they are slow. I thought they were supposed to be faster
@@redsox1935 160 mph in operation, 186 mph top speed with tilting, and 220 mph without tilting. That's slow to you? Lol
@@redsox1935 They are slow because literally everything on the NEC needs to be upgraded.
@@PrimeMoverRailfanProductions Exactly right. The rails up here are old and can't handle these things at their top speed. So they're getting gradually replaced so they can.
