Finally received mine a few days ago. It is just wonderful. I've wanted this thing for nearly 30 YEARS! Also pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it feels. The acrylic is heavier than I thought. And it looks just as beautiful without the lights on, especially when it is in areas with different lighting. I have been carrying this thing with me all over the house since I got it 👍. Oh, mine is # 93. I think of it as representing 1993 which was the last year QL was on the air.

Two different ones from Season 2 & 3, as well as working out the wrist link from the episode "The Leap Back"! I'm buying it all!

Definitely buying this. The cost is right around what I would have expected. But I can see the craftsmanship and the sound effects are an amazing touch. I loved the show and the handlink so much as a kid my father, uncle and I made one out of a cheap pocket pinball machine toy with LEDs and a battery pack from Radio Shack.

If you slam the right side of the handlink does it make that angry/thinking sound? Like when you try to get a vending machine to work after you put your money in and nothing comes out so you slap it. Al used to do this a lot.

Love it! Only thing I could "complain" about (just being picky) is that the "moaning" sound from when the device got stuck or Al hit it with his palm is missing, but overall...Amazing!
@@SPProps anyway, I think this is too rich for my blood. But the Earth: Final Conflict prop was basically like a smartphone, since the show kind of takes place around now, but was made in the late-90s. It had this cool roll out feature, so the device closed up, when not using the screen.
I don’t recall a toy version being made. A lot of fans resorted to making replicas themselves, like out of Lego or some other material. As for “what do you do with it” I’m a prop collector, so it largely is a display piece. But I will periodically play with it or share it with fellow fans.

Yep, you are very much correct on that. I don't know how much you did paid for your prized piece, but I know the person who owns and operates replica props does charge quite a bit of money just for something like that,...and I know I'll need to take the time and effort I require in order to build up a good, large chunk of revenue just to pay and achieve that. Let's just say living in Canada is a high, financial challenge.
I'm SOOOO jealous as Quantum Leap is my favourite TV time travel show. Time travel is the only TV Sci-Fi I like but I don't like DR Who( sorry Dr Who fans ) I'd love to purchase an Al's hand link but as I live in Northern Ireland it would probably cost me a fortune as the postage would be expensive. Maybe it's just me but doesn't some of the handlink's sound effects sound like R2D2 out of Star Wars?
I think there are some definite similarities between the handlink sounds and R2, but also being a Star Wars fan, I’m fairly certain they are different. And I wouldn’t count yourself out yet! You should contact Replica Props and see what they can do for shipping.

I think they both have their charm. The calculator-style handlink was more functional, but the gummy bear definitely fit better in the futuristic vision they had set.
