Such a strange ending. I'm glad there was no "final boss", just some labcoats and hazmat suits for you to devour, the same ones the game taunted you with at the very beginning. It makes you feel like you are the final boss.
Yeah, the game really emphasize on the fact that you're the monster, and you're supposed to be feared as you progress through it, at first, not really, but as the game progress, you become more and more fearsome with deadlier abilities
You are
The final boss
@@Jam3s42069 Yee
@@Jam3s42069 So this game is only hard from the start then gets easier the more the Carrion grows?
I wish the ending had you walk past a bunch of security guards or something and them just think you’re good.
That would have been a pretty nice contrast compared to flashback 3
I feel they did technically do that... The last door you open shows a screen indicating full green in different human things, like a scan showing positive readings... maybe you do pass as a human to the top of the line scans... And if you can bypass machines... What's the human eye to do?
Maybe this thing just wanted to be free, as the evening progresses there's no sign or hint of carnage, maybe it just left human civilization all together.
Perhaps that the monster kills those who believes were all involved experimenting on it.
From what I know about the Comic tie in, the creature doesn't absorb a bunch of humans because it inherits the desires of what it Absorbs. That means If it absorbs enough humans Who want to kill it, It will want to kill itself. The creatures a literal definition of "you are what you eat"
It's intelligent, but its main drive is the desire to survive above all else. So it wouldn't go about picking fights unnecessarily.
@@Gungelion i 100% agree
@@Gungelion and? doesnt it wanna reproduce? if it does that means it need to eat
@bmwbmw35 It's a city that's fairly common.... didn't hear any screams, gunfire or explosions did you?
I like just how simple the ending is...we don’t exactly know what it means, but the implications alone are terrifying..
Guess it means to be continued...
It means the world is fucked
@@Ashley_J.W but it does have intelligence , does this mean that this being will just live normally but kill animals or something , it wouldn't want to deal with more crap anyways so it should be careful to begin with
@@ftblaze6175 i don't think it'll survive out there so easily unless it makes more parasites and copies of itself and slowly spread it around the world to stike at the most appropriate moment. It is very intelligent tho but that matters on who's playing the game.
Without us , they thing would have died by 5-6 gunshots alone
@@lukky6648 maybe it can silently and secretly kill low class citizens
Being able to blend in with the human society is already scares me enough plus if they're a monster like these
That monster has no chance, there are far worse humans, plus if a virus hits it that affects humans, well, let's just say that opens the door up to some very bad conditions humanity can superimpose~ the creature is stupid enough to have resembled us, now it may have are weaknesses, it's a package deal
@@dragonslayerornstein387 This monster have the potential to stance a chance hell even conquering earth but it's seen in the game it's not invincible it still can die by guns but the ability to recreate biomass is already overpowered enough to kill any living beings plus this kind of monster can adapt through consuming DNA so yes it have the potential to nullify all microorganisms through digesting them and not to mention they can mimic or imitate human or any life form on earth

Did you know that the music track in the ending is called “The End As We Know It”?
Didn't know that, but thanks for sharing that info with us.
Are you sure it's called "The End As We Know It"? I just found out a few minutes ago so never mind.
Kristin Burns yeah, i found it out by listening to the ost.
Could just be named that because the end that we know is *just* the creature leaving the facility. Maybe it doesn't even want to take over the world
This game gives me serious ooze vibes if anyone knows its a sega classic about a scientist who knows to much and his boss has him turned into a sludge monster you then need to scavange the wastelands to find dna strands to try to piece together your own dna to try to return to being human all while taking down the evil corporation you use to work for
That sounds like a pretty nice game ngl

The reason there was no final boss is because....
*YOU* were the final boss
You weren't even the final boss
You were the extinction of everything
I thought of the ending as that guy regaining his lost form and having the ability to use the monsters power/become it if he needs to kind of like alex mercer
It seems that this is a Monster Becoming Human, not Human becoming Monster 🤔
They should add a new game+ were you get all the powers right at the beginning and you can just go off and have fun and see how it goes

So this game is basically a modern version of John Carpenter's, "The Thing."
It really got the aesthetic of it at the very least.
It's a reverse horror and I think there's actually a movie called carrion based on inexact story like this
The Thing Among Us.
"and so the monster became a real boy, and lived happily ever after"
The final shocked me. It was like john carpenter's the thing movie but in the city. Good video bro, greetings from Argentina.

What scares me about the ending is that the city looks like Seattle. I mean... I live in Washington and this hit me hard.

ARRGH !
AAHHHH !!
AAAA !
I always loved how the humans quarantined a part of the city to try and hide it. Or maybe a real infection had to be contained that turned people into monsters
this what makes me question about the parasite/protagonist,
is the parasite harmless? I mean when the scientist got infected the parasite didn't cause any harm or danger to the host infected. All we know in the game is that the parasite has a motive and that is to adapt and escape the facility. The ending implies that the host unlocks the ability to revert back to its original form and the parasite seems dormant about it.
So what we're the shady scientists facility was trying to achieve really? I mean, they shot the infected specimen instead of examining the virus behavior?
That's why i think that the parasite itself is not really bad or harmful in nature. It's just happens to be provoked into a new environment.
That's an interesting take on the protagonist
Unless the scientists did REALLY bad stuff to the thing, you can’t really consider it good since it brutally devours hundreds of people alive.
Wait, why are you referring to it as a parasite at all? It didn’t infect anyone, it merely took their appearance. Whoever that scientist the thing turned into was, he is dead, quite likely eaten by the thing.
@@georgsgrants9925 then why did it turn into a human instead of being a monstrous blob as it is end?
There are small flashback that appears in the game that one of the scientist ventured down a undisclosed location. We have no idea what's the motive or reasoning, but that's where we saw first hand the treachery of an organization that he is working for. Again, this are all speculation cause in those flashbacks, the specimen or the carrion creature doesn't appear as what it appears currently in the game. That's why I think the creature is not bad. I mean, the creature knows how to unlock complex security protocols, if the parasite is bad then it wouldn't have the knowledge to dispatch them one by one, it would literally be dead in a few floors in facility. Sure you can argue as just being a game design, but again, I only mentioned if the parasite was harmful in nature, the flashback didn't show any forced infection/assimilation. It could be an accident or what not, but we can be assure that it has something to do with vengeance, and from our perspective, they entirely deserve it.
@@chazgirl6186 Well that's also a speculation as well since it was shown in the flashback that the organism/parasite wasn't active or looking for a specific host to begin with. The guy was just there. Sure we can't speculate that it has emotions but we can agree that it has a mind of its own, which enables it to bypass all the security protocols and escape successfully.
i hope theres a horror game where its you be fighting this thing, hell the SCP group army would have a feild day with this thing
it's pretty much just the flesh that hates.
Imagine if it became intelligent enough to be a Thamuel class SCP and you got to fight *with* it. As in, alongside in battle, glorious, gory chaos.

Legend has it, a dog peed on it's leg and it died.
You thought Carrion itself was twisted? Arguably, it became something even worse in the end. I thought something bad was gonna happen in the credits but its ambiguity and lack of screams could mean that it has something even more sadistic in mind.
The most difficult thing to become: normal.
What I find interesting about this game is the way the describe this mass as the perfect organisms which I will admit it is clearly advanced but considering why it is so advanced could be its down fall it just being a lump of fleshy bio mass means while it in this place atleast is can easily out manuver and trick a human or really any animal but out in the open where nothing but it’s fleshy self is exposed it has to deal with intense cold heat and having next to nowhere to hid it’s not the perfect organisms per say it’s just an extremely advanced killer atleatst while it’s hear
Imagine if it exists and is one of 2020's disasters

Thanks man, glad that you liked it.
So.....the scientist is the mass....or the mass impersonate the scientist?
Basically, the Mass gained DNA as it got through the labs, and at this point, it learned how to mimic human DNA and take the appearance of one to escape, it could be hinted it also gained the intelligence to know that it needs to do that in order to use the hand scanner and escape.
While the ambiguity of the scene leaves it open to interpretation my money is on the latter option
@@Jam3s42069 the name of the ability that allows you to turn into the scientist is named parasitism as in parasite, which is a form of symbiotic relationship between two lifeforms. because of that I believe that the scientist is still the scientist and that they still have their own intelligence, but that the biomass is using them to integrate/inflitrate into society
@@Fertile_Program small correction, parasitism is where one life form takes more than what it gives, simbiotism is the one where 2 life forms kind of join forces to help each other. In the case of this game, you could say the monster took the body of the scientist and is in full controll, kind of a Willian Birking kind of scenario.
English isn't my first language so I might have made some mistakes in the words I used.
@@ku5639 incorrect. The creature looked like him but it was just imitation, which was why its replication ability was locked away until the very end of the game
In the end....
There is a *Thing* among us.
The movie the thing from another perspective
Carrion, my wayward son.
Imagine if the devs make carrion 2 where you play as the human trying to secretly assassinate people and make havoc in the world until you reveal that you are a monster and start killing everyone
This ending reminded me of Life 2017, when Calvin (super organism that caused extinction on mars) landed on earth. Except i think this one looks even more terrifying since it can legit transform into any thing it wants. wonder what happens when these 2 monsters face off
What if that shooting star was something bad
What do you think it is?
So that's what they secretly meant when they said "unleash the horror"?
I think it would have been a lot better if the final shot of the game was just a bigger more huge version of the monster just crawling over the city and devouring the buildings
Why? We know it would just be nuked, it’s quite vulnerable and it seems to have a max growth capacity. It probably just want to quietly pick off enough for itself one by one.
Hell, It probably won't do anything, since the people it killed had something to do with the facility that was experimenting on it, just a thought tho
What area is it? I’ve been trying to find it for awhile now.
It's in the starting area, you can get there by using the hole in Frontier Wasteland and go in BSL-4 Research Ward, it's near the Control Room and the Gate where you get the 3rd flashback
Jam3s ty fam
It would've been a better ending if the end is about the city losing power then followed by tons of screams and gunshots.
Someone call the SCP foundation
I wouldn't be surprised if Carrion is the prequel of Among Us.
The creature had already breached our defences, look what have it done to out colleagues And worst of all, it could be any one of us

Legit one of the most Shit-your -pants scary noises I've heard in a game
After all many evolutions and kills. The thing is free like a normal being.
There is an impostor....among us
Lol imagine your we're still the thing and the ending just becomes you eating the entire city
So basically it’s like a alternate universe and year of The Thing were its under a quarantine city and that the “Thing” did make it to a populated area? Also when is its PS4/5 release come out?
Is there a carrion 2 coming or a DLC? I thought I read somewhere that there was going to be a free DLC that adds story elements and new areas to the game...But with the way the game ended it almost feels like there should just be a new game...
They did an update that added another scenario around Winter, which I've yet to try out, but aside that, I don't really know myself.
I heard there's a comic of it and the comic goes into more in-depth explanation, it goes beyond the game's ending, I heard we even get to see what the monster think/its opinion on itself, but idk where to find it so I haven't read it yet, it's just hearsay :/
its only available in the deluxe edition of the game on steam, i wanna read it so bad too bro
Very The Thing style of ending
Carrion : become a human)))0)
Did you know? Tubifex worms are a real thing, which leads me to believe the carrion monster is a version that mutated to have a hive mind.

And then John was a monster
the sun lowers leaving the creature walking away from its torture, the sun wont only set below the earth, it will set on humanity as the creature starts to take lives one by one. One day after he is done with his revenge on human kind, he will be the one that rules the world. As he finishes his last meal, The sun starts to become a red dwarf and it will burn the earth as the creature watches happily, The end of the world is coming. Because humanity........was the creature's undoing
I wish they made a sequel where the player can choose to live normally or continue to wreck havoc
We can only hope that some day the developer will make a sequel, because this game has some seriously potential both story but also gameplay wise.
