3:16 "chihaya-" Only watched this thanks to Chihayafuru. I must say that I think I`d never have thought I`d be interested in an anime about a karuta/card game about poetry. Amazing, and these players are so fast!
Hey, that movement took a whole 3 frames! I'm just glad this is a self-judged game. The hands should know best when they've won or lost, and trying to judge something of this speed would be madness...
I love the show chihayafuru so I came here to see what a real karuta match is like. Wow! They are fast! I thought chihayafuru was over exaggerating the speed.
his speed at the chihayafuru card was incredible, I thought chihayafuru was exaggerating but...I nearly cried watching this video, I'd never saw a game as amazing as karuta...I want to play it badely.... =(
The first poem read is simply an introductory poem and not part of the Hyakunin Isshu, so it's not even one of the cards. The first few poems read after that were empty cards not in play.
Chihayafuru wasn't exaggerating. If I didn't know better, I would've been scared of karuta too, like all those people who wanted to join until they saw the karuta club play. I would've been fascinated at the speed though. It's mesmerizing! XD
You know how in other sports-based anime, they always have the main characters pull off trick and abilities that would be near impossible to have in the real world. Even conditions that would be way too specific to be real? Yeah, I'm going to say that Chihayafuru did NOT do that when they set up the matches in the anime! This is amazing!!! :D
wow, chihaya furu did not exaggerate about the speed at all, i'm completely speechless at how fast these class A karuta players are... amazing hehe, 3:15 i was waiting for the chihaya furu card :P
@TropicalNeon chihayafuru author, made a great introduction on this lost game by her work.nice job.im from iran, a country of poetry, and it makes me depressed that how these people treasure their poems which are without any tone and rhythm and they carry only simple meaninigs(comparing to our poems) yet they made such a great thing and are introducing it in such a great way it makes me feel horrible about y we -the country of poems- dont have such great things here.thanks ms author
This is the real deal! Chihayafuru made me curious to see if the real deal was something to take seriously, and it really is. Precision, reaction, speed, swiftness, stamina... serious stuff! Nice match! Norway says hello :)
i also know karuta and interested in this after manga"chihayafuru", even i'm not very well in japanese but i can feel how amazing in karuta! i'm soooo exciting during this video!!
I totally agree, I thot all the shit they were saying in Chihayafuru about the difference of reactions in seconds or milliseconds was too much and a little bit over the moon, but when i watch this video and the rest, I stand corrected. These guys are unbelievably fast.
there's a karuta game in english, if any one is interested. just type english karuta on the facebook search box. It's called colira karuta. i play it all the time
There are also lots of famous and brilliant Chinese poems, but why there is no karuta like the Japanese one in China? I hope there will be a karuta of Chinese version as it is a beautiful and interesting game and culture :)
1) I'm here thanks to chihaafuru 2) the first few dead cards were frustrating me because I wanted to see them hit the cards and see speed that wasn't animated 3)I was not disappointed....I didn't didn't know speed was possible...I always though the anima was just exaggerating...4) I'm now saddened by the fact that I don't know Japanese to learn how to play karuta
1st thing to do when i come to japan is find apartment, learn japanese language and learn how to play karuta (though i know how to play because of chihayafuru) . :)
I think I get it! I can't wait til school starts back so I can go to the principal and ask her if I can add another club to the school. I can't wait I am going to bye the cards on Amazon also the cd. Please wish me the greatest of luck. :)
Actually the fact he is swapping his cards has nothing to do with the card being read. They both react to "hitomo" by going in "hitoha" direction, and as you said, nobody faulted nor got any card. The player on the left just misplaced one of his card after Chiha was taken ("Shira" I think, even though I can't be sure with such a low definition), and thus the other one told him to swap them. This is really a common thing ^^
OMG this is real :O I thought the anime was exaggerating but i have hard time following their moves! Oh well, i just ordered one set of karuta cards and i'm starting japanese this year so... :D
WOAH, I thought they were exaggerating the speed a bit in Chihayafuru (typical of most sports/card/board game anime/manga, right?), but.... These guys are FAST!! O_O
Even though Chihayafuru brought me here I still feel like learning it but of course I don't know too much of Japanese
So many here couse chihayafuru (i m too) looks so amazing one new reason to learn japanese to watch a Match♥
Most of the people came here after watching chihayafuru... I DID TOO :D :D
Chihayafuru card on 03:15, the 8th poem.
Ah, both of them are A ranks playing a practice match it seems.
I'd love to learn Japanese if only so I could try playing. Looks like a lot of fun!
Chihayafuru made me fall in love with this part of the Japanese culture!
3:16 "chihaya-"

Hey, that movement took a whole 3 frames!

I love the show chihayafuru so I came here to see what a real karuta match is like. Wow! They are fast! I thought chihayafuru was over exaggerating the speed.
The Chihayafuru card was taken so goddamn fast! This is crazy, if only there were beautiful women around every corner.

I wonder if people realize that the title says "chihayafuru" XD
This is the most extreme version of slapjack I've ever seen.
In all seriousness, this game looks really damn good.
going straight to the comments section to see when chihaya card is called, not disappointed :D
I've been watching chihayafuru and that's what brought me here

When I watched Chihayafuru I was like, "I am soo gonna learn this game."
You know how in other sports-based anime, they always have the main characters pull off trick and abilities that would be near impossible to have in the real world. I learned to play mahjong because of Saki, but learning to play karuta since I enjoy Chihayafuru would take quite a bit more work :O
I thought chihayafuru was exaggerating the speed-but they werent! These guys are increadibly fast!!!
That anime definitely made this game more famous!
wow, chihaya furu did not exaggerate about the speed at all, i'm completely speechless at how fast these class A karuta players are... amazing

I never see Chihayafuru before. But I saw Karuta in Dokidoki Precure episode 14.
Even me a gymnast is totally impressed with the speed!
Even with a slow-motion capture, it is still a blur!!!
SO MANY SUO'S!!!!
I brightened up when I heard the Chihayafuru card being called! :D
Whoa. That's amazing. Anyone else wanna learn karuta now?
This is the real deal! Chihayafuru made me curious to see if the real deal was something to take seriously, and it really is.
Precision, reaction, speed, swiftness, stamina... serious stuff!

It seems so easy in the anime.. but in real life its hard! I've tried it!
Well ... the title is "Chihayafuru's World ~ Karuta Game Training 1"
there's a karuta game in english, if any one is interested. just type english karuta on the facebook search box. It's called colira karuta. i play it all the time
There are also lots of famous and brilliant Chinese poems, but why there is no karuta like the Japanese one in China? I hope there will be a karuta of Chinese version as it is a beautiful and interesting game and culture :)
I bet they are fans of Chihayafuru. They were camping on that card at 3:15.
now i understand why everyone in the Chihayafuru always say "FAST!"
ちはやふる見てからルール気になって見に来たけど、意外と地味だねww
ちはやふるの演出はすごかったってことか
+HAK-UMAI kaz いや。同じくらいだよ。演出でふすまに刺さるとかあるけど実際刺さるし。
ふすまには刺さらないと思いますよ爆笑
破れる事はありますが笑
Как же мне нравится эта игра :3 выучу японский ради нее))
I can't believe people actually move like in Chihayafuru... = mind blown
Holy smokes. They move so freakin' fast. JUST LIKE IN CHIHAYAFURU.....
半端ない!すごい!!
Now I can totally understand the mental torment caused by dead cards ...
When they slap the hell out of the cards, how can they tell they actually went for the correct one?
1) I'm here thanks to chihaafuru 2) the first few dead cards were frustrating me because I wanted to see them hit the cards and see speed that wasn't animated 3)I was not disappointed....I didn't didn't know speed was possible...I always though the anima was just exaggerating...4) I'm now saddened by the fact that I don't know Japanese to learn how to play karuta
Chihayafuru=Impationate Gods
I LOVE CHIHAYAFURU ANIME!!!!
WOW! My eyes couldnt keep up with 3:16 , I had to replay that part a lot.

I am here because of chihaya furu, i like mashima and shinobu
1st thing to do when i come to japan is find apartment, learn japanese language and learn how to play karuta (though i know how to play because of chihayafuru) . :)
4:35 the guy on the right side won the card, not the guy on the left.
I think I get it! I can't wait til school starts back so I can go to the principal and ask her if I can add another club to the school. I can't wait I am going to bye the cards on Amazon also the cd. Please wish me the greatest of luck. :)
Wow, Todo mundo aqui por causa de Chihaya Furu ^^
I watched this video because of CHIHAYAFURU!!!
Chihayafuru.... this game is actually perdy cool
I like how most of the comments one these irl Karuta videos are all Chihayafuru fans xD
O.O...Even if you pause it at the exact moment, you'll only see a blur.
Actually the fact he is swapping his cards has nothing to do with the card being read. They both react to "hitomo" by going in "hitoha" direction, and as you said, nobody faulted nor got any card.

When the reader said Chihayafuru woah woah that was fast! :D
Came here cuz of Chihayafuru (ちはやふる) and I'm pretty sure everyone here too :)

신기해..치하야후루보고왓는데
I'm guessing you're talking about Chihayafuru? ;D
I thought touching a card when a dead card was read was a 2 card penalty, but in this match it seems to be a 1 card penalty. Anyone know why?
chihayafuru's amazing!!! I'm begging for up to season 5!!!!!!
I thought the fast in Anime Chihayafuru was fake. Wow. They are sure are fast. Must be some A-Class Players x)
