Alien: "Surrender or we will sting you with capsaicin"
Humans: "capsaicin you say..." *opens mouth*
Alian: "the fuck?"
Humans: "We're waiting"
They sound so yum!
Great.. now I'm hungry
I mean, technically capsaicin CAN kill humans. But it's pretty unlikely anything would naturally evolve enough capsaicin to do so, especially on a less hostile planet than earth. The potentially deadly peppers we have are all selectively bred for uber-spiciness (from what I've read, it would still take a ridiculous amount of the spiciest pepper to actually kill)
@@seatbelttruck The real proble is the pain. I helped my gandma pulp out of hot peppers once. My hand file like its on fire for a whole day.

I'd like to point out that dogs are not obligate carnivores (70-90% meat in diet) like cats are, dogs are scavenging omnivores (40-60% meat in diet) like humans are.
But Remember dogs are not vegan
There's a scale I forget the name of, but obligate carnivores are 5, and herbivores are 1. All cat species are 5, dogs and bears are 4, and humans are equal to pigs and anchovies at 2.2.
I’m picturing the crew at a spaceport with Nano and other beings are giving them a wide berth and then everyone hears the cries of joy from human children screaming, “Doggie!!!”
Thats why humans can bond so well with doggos...

One wonder's if other aliens would adopt our pets as their own like we have.
Oh, probably the bravest among aliens would try to have dog as pet.
As for cats ... they would end up the cat's slave ... just like any human.

Biggest doggos, cuddliest doggos, best doggos. And naming her nano is so God damned cute
The one reminded me of the random topic Rslash went on about. He talked about when we actually contact aliens, or biggest export is gonna be dogs, since dogs love anyone. I don’t remember if he brought it up, but if that does happen, there’s be no more homeless, abandoned dogs, or almost no more at least.
I remember reading a story in the 1980s in the Azimov magazine about a cat that was psychically bonded with the human pilot of a spacecraft. There was a whole series and it was amazing.
What a happy and special little doggo!
9:25 "You heard all those snorts and sneezes. That's her way of saying she's only playing, she's not out to hurt anyone." *distant Achoo!* "Dogs often do it during much rougher, more wild play sessions to say; Hey this is fun and all, but let's not let it escalate into a fight."
Love the loud sneeze in the background at 9:17. That was hilarious, especially after talking about sneezing and snorting. Actually, it was at 9:29.
I was about to see if anyone else noticed that was gold
It sounded so much like my dad that I thought it was him downstairs. Then I rewound the video and it happened again lol
"Capsaicin, you say?" Proceeds to hunt the corsairs through two star systems to pluck their spicy needles. One human was seen eating a strange fruit, but no one dared to question

This story is wonderful.
I love Dogs and this story is a good example that humanity did a good by befriending them
Aliens with a built-in hot sauce dispenser, you say? Too bad they had to scare them off. And yes, mutts are humans' best friends. My Rottweiler (Honey) would maul an aggressor badly for transgressing against her pack.

@@robertcrawshaw9978 Spanish
Human are the masters of their home world, they didn't eliminate the dagerous predators but also keeping their numbers healthy, not to mention they are exceptionally good at making animals join their warpack,a process which they call "domestication".They domesticated herbivores for food and labor, predators for hunting partners, pest control and even as pets, yes they have predators as pets. While the human senses are not powerful they can easily make up for that with the help of their animal companion, they have full control over it to the point that with only a single command the quiet and obedient pet will turn into a deadly predator to whoever they pointed at.

To be honest I would not be surprised if aliens would see our treatment of pets and think that it was some weird religion
cats in particular, and if they research "cat religion" and see the egyptians info it'll get way out of hand.
Not a huge leap. God put us in a garden when he created us. Maybe god put us here to bring forth abundance for all life.

Are you saying it isn't?
Indeed the best Doggo this side of the galaxy.
Demon of the Devil Dogs makes that debatable, but they certainly are the Best Boy and Best Girl of the Galaxy
@@truekurayami yeah but demon has unfair advantages of actually being able to communicate back, even if limited.
Didn't even have finish the story to be able to say that
You'd think someone would tell the other peoples of the universe that humans are quite strange about our predatory animals. We'll look at a tiger and go "no, it's too much of a baby for us to let go extinct, just look at the stripy, floofy, murder mittens, too cute" despite the fact that we are on their menu and we haven't even remotely domesticated them. We go way harder for the predatory species we HAVE gotten chummy with.
I reckon that domestication of wolves to dogs was a purely accidental, or fateful encounter. One injured wolf, and a human that was either too dumb, or too kind, and took pity on it, the wolf reciprocated, and boom. Maybe the roles were reversed. Maybe they needed one another to survive.
the only reason why we not yet domesticated any predatory animal bigger that us was because we doesn't have enough food to keep them a live and not because we afraid of them or because it was dangerous to us, but more about not enough food for them to eat
@@friendlyroughai3319there's been too few millionaires or billionaires to keep a big enough population both fed and entertained enough to start a separate gene pool from the wild ones for a few generations. At least for now, might actually have the big predators domesticated in a couple hundred more years if humanity continues to improve quality of life or even just brings the rest of the world to the level of Europe or the USA.
Come on ,domestic some bears

Why have I never seen a doggo HFY story before!? The was a nice read.

Yes, perfect scene to imagine
'We're traders.'
'You're going to trade our goods for our lives?'

If only Frank Frazetta was alive to draw that!
@@coltaine503 I wasn't sure who that was before you mentioned him, but that would be amazing. Some of the art I saw was some Dantes Inferno/Conan the Barbarian art.
@@1rotzy Frazetta basically defined how Conan looks to us today. There are several scenes from Arnold's first Conan movie copying Frazetta's artwork. I grew up in the time he was at his peak, his artwork on magazines and book covers, and his imagery inspired some of the best-known artists in sci-fi and fantasy.
Fun fact did you guys know that snorting huffy you know his dogs make when they're playing is actually akin to laughter! Those fluffy bastard they're laughing out of excitement from playing with us!!!

I love dogs even more now.
Caucasian Shepherds were bred to fight off and/or kill wolves, they are huge, between 58.4-76.2 cm tall at the shoulder, for wolves the measures are 80-85 cm at the shoulder, though the wolves are taller on average the Caucasian Shepherd has a much larger head and wider muzzle

@@SetzerII
that seems like a big no no to me.
I'd say that the author really missed an opportunity here. After the Chekhov's Gun of the spicy secretion is mentioned, a discordant horror break from the soft narrative tone was primed to have taken place sometime down the line. Nano's efforts during the defense of the ship could have been elaborated upon from the perspective of the aliens, in all their terrible glory. Then, in a twist, she could then shy away in pain from the heat upon chomping on a Scorcid.
This would have prompted the captain to warn the crew of that capsaicin substance produced by the species. This, in turn, could have culminated in the Deathworlders dressing the outlaw plant people (like hunted big game) in the aftermath of the fighting and performing culinary experiments with the remains. Special collective fondness for the "highly dangerous" secretions could have been shown and, as far as the rest of the crew would be concerned, this would clearly illustrate why the humans were the dominant species over the previously far more terrifying four-legged predator.
This could have culminated in more empathy for the pup as she would make more sense to them than the humans because she was vulnerable in a manner more akin to how they are. This would have maintained the mystique of humans as a dangerous species while also giving a clearly defined reason for the crew to have begun warming up to her in the end.
Actually, I would do you one better! An entire story line revolving around Nano the doggo and her daily life on the merchant ship. One or more chapters could then be dedicated to a new human crew member bringing on a Norwegian forest cat and watching as both Nano the doggo and the crew dealing with that particular furry little asshole lol

3 story ideas involving animals
Fox: aliens watch as 4 humans are playing with a fox by seeing who can grab the toy from its mouth.
Pitbull: a captain highers a bouncer who brings a dog on board, medium size it was but even from the captain powerful eye sight she could see the dense muscles inside of its frame. Very calm it was and constantly wanting pets but when a spy got on board and threatened her life, “Lily” tackled the foe and ripped him to shreds.
Saint Bernard: an alien mechanic goes down to the Ned bay to get healed after a major injury during a repair attempt meets with human doctor and the largest dog he has ever seen. It at nearly 3/4s his height and seem to be 3 times as heavy. The thing looked at him with what could be described as sadness but the tong sticking out betrayed hits face and around its neck seemed to be a sizable barrel.
I like the ideas, but... Why would the Saint Bernard have barrel on it's neck still? It's not like we use them in that capacity very much any more. If at all.
@@samuelevans738 because if I remember correctly Saint Bernards would carry medicinal products in a barrel around their neck so they could help their master if they get hurt or cold in harsh environments

I absolutely LOVED this story. Nano sounds like a great pupper.
As for the Aliens that nade their own capcasin... they are lucky they are hunted down for a "taste test"
Me and my doggy play "catch the annoying hands" too :)
When we go to the stars for good, there's no doubt we'll have dogs along for the ride
considder these aliens havent done something like taming a ravinous animal before or seen one kept as a friendly pet even as a concept- with that, if youre not sure why theyre concerned ... look up a caucasion shepard- theyre very large fluffy dogs. I think sometimes theyre nicknamed as bear dogs. If you see it and dont get why a foreign entity would be concerned idk what else would help.
GOod doggo but there is some good merit to WHY
Dogs are omnivores damn it!
Dogs are such pure spirits. Unlike humans, deception is not in their nature. What you see is what you get.
Since honesty is indispensable in friendship, its no wonder they have become man's best friend. If only humans weren't so devious and deceitful by nature.
Caucasian Shepherds are from the Republic of Georgia and are known gor their size, cute fluffball puppies, and extreme aggression toward anyone who threatens their flocks or owners.
Also, Nano is a common Georgian woman's name (a variant of Nino), but calling a big dog "tiny" is a hilarious double meaning too! 😆
Nano is a big sweety.
The poor aliens think dogs are bad. We keep lions, bears ( not polar bears to my knowledge but we would try) cats of all kinds. Maincoon and Savannah s and cheetahs have all been used to hunt with.
We are the monsters that make pets out of monsters
Out of all the dog breeds, the Caucasian Shepherd would probably be the biggest shock to the system. They've been bred to kill wolves and chase off bears to protect herds of animals...
I wanted to say: no no no, they're not exclusively carnivorous, they're omnivores! Like us they'll eat most anything. No it's _cats_ you're thinking of, the _other_ predator species we domesticated.
The plant things are just a full on meal for spicy lovers. Fruit AND spicy sauce makes a decent meal (though I prefer to not eat spicy stuff)
Don't tell Vega about cats.
Dogs are actually just lazy wolves because before we tamed wolves they would follow behind us collecting scraps eventually they just got brave enough to come forward and we fed them and then they started to love us and boom the doggo was born
Reminds me of my neighbor's dog a Belgian Mal. He is a cop and the dog is his (now retired) K9 partner that lives in his house. Dog LOVES getting petted and played with by everyone. But on command is all business and ready to protect or attack as needed. Actually the protect part needs no command, as it was trained to react on its own to aggression against his human partner.
Dogs are not exclusively meat eaters! They're semi omnivorous, they have a complex protein in their stomach that allows them to digest and even partially absorb nutrients from plant matter. It's healthy and common for dogs to have some fruit every once in a while, however they still need a diet of at least 90% - 95% meat to really be healthy.
So true the dogs i grew up with loved apples. So much they stole them from the tree we had in the backyard.
It's stories like this make me really miss Davis, my sister's Boxer. The Boxer that though it was a bunny... unless you acted in any way the dog thought was agressive towards my sister.
And if anything/anyone kills the floofy doggie, the owner will stop at nothing until they have turned the creature/person into a fine paste on the...Well everything around them.
We love our animals and if anyone hurts them, we will lose our shit.
OMG i love that "little doggo" !! more story with spacedogs pelase!
Okay we definitely need more doggo HFY stories
