Del it is nice to watch someone who actually knows what they are doing. There are a lot of hacks on RUclips and you sir are not one. Great job and keep up the good work. Like I have said before someone should give you a TV show, it would be a big hit.
Thank you most kindly Sir, that is very generous of you... its always great to hear from you, and im really glad you enjoy the videos... take care and keep in touch... Del.
Top Tip! If you ever want to avoid cutting a ‘Drunken’ Male thread but have a lathe like you do; knock lathe out of gear and turn off at the mains, keep Male part in the Chuck, press the die up against the tail stock and move the tail stick down to the Male part til they “engage”. The die handle will jam against the lathe bed as you turn the 3 jaw Chuck in the normal direction rotation. You only need a couple if rotations to cut into the Male stock and it’ll all be dead square. Once started, take it out and finish off in a bench vice. Hey presto, prefect square Male threads. (Maybe use the Chuck key to get extra leverage if needed to rotate the Chuck while cutting the thread) 👍
Hi Del , Haven't been here for a while so many things going on moving house and stuff but great to see your back into a rat bike , Your channels come a long way and you now have an excellent workshop , the nice thing is you haven't changed still the same bloke , still got rat bikes running through your veins , your channel has not lost its direction , sure its more professional than the early days but its still a bloke in his shed doing what he loves to do and helping the younger ones to see there's more to life than sitting on the sofa looking at a phone
Hi buddy, my word, thank you so much for that kind endorsement, it's great to know we're still on the money and haven't lost our mojo...! Thank you for taking the trouble to get in touch, we really appreciate your support, take care, all the very best, D&Px
just a quick question how did you work out that the new piece is stronger than the square tube it replaces. looking at it the load is distributed alone the lengthen of the tube in compression making the square tube stronger than the round bar as there is a bend half way along giving it a weak spot to bend as a round bar/tube is stronger in a strait line not in a curve/bent scenario.
@@Moonfleet41 I've been a Marine Engineer in the Royal Navy for the past 10 years, but they dont teach us anything like this anymore 🥺. We are basically just fitters now 😔

Hello Del, as always this turned out great. It's got a very cool look with that pattern in the metal. What's it off? looks like it's off a fancy railing from a back garden or something. I'm catching up on your latest videos, it's nice to have three videos to watch one after the other while I'm doing a little art project. I don't mean to sound cheeky at all but your videos make quite nice background ambience while you're working and I glance up at what you're doing =P
Hi Gus, thanks mate, glad you enjoyed, just waiting for parts, so why not! Sunshine here at last today, let's hope more on the way.. ride safe, chat soon, D&Px
Great video mate where did you get the steel bar from do you know I have a project I’ve been wanting to do that will look great with that bar thanks for sharing stay safe
Hi mate, I got the square bar from B&Q home depot and twisted myself... it was a great fun project and I knew I'd use it one day for something useful! Stay safe and well there yourself!
@@Moonfleet41 thanks for the reply mate ill be looking for it when I go to b&q really enjoying your bike build making this lockdown easier lol stay safe
Wow. That's some kind of witch-craft! Amazing job. Looks really good. 👌 I'm not sure exactly why, but those close up shots of the lathe are very satisfying 😎
Oh no, there is method to it, polishing off the black scale from the heat and twisting process to allow it to be oil burned once I get to that stage! ...Thanks for watching buddy...!
hey mate, after wathing your vid few questions come to mind. why do you wear such gloves for welding? also strength wise will this be as strong as the old arm? no testing fiting before the final weld? cheers mate.
Whaaat!!!. That looks some mental metal work brother. That looks awesome bruv. Looking forward to the next few videos. Ride and drive safe peeps. It's not the weather, its the assholes using the roads. 🤘🤘

Hi del i love the videos i am alittle confused rhe first couple of videos tou said the busa was going to be cafe racer then cafe racer/ rat bike now they just say rat bike? Would be great to see the busa as a cafe racer also what happened to the turbo bike ?not many videos on that beast? Best of luck to you and penny
Stick with it buddy, I'm building a rat rod bike and that can be many things and aim to create that in a cafe racer style...! Perhaps it's best described as 'cafe racer' being a genre of bike, like bobber, chopper or streetfighter, and rat rod is the finish and patina you put on it, so you could have, for instance, a rat rod chopper or a shiney and candy painted chopper... this will be a cafe racer with a rat rod finish to it... oh, the turbo bike is in the hands of it's new loving owner and has been for a few months now, can't keep 'em all buddy, otherwise people would think I was Jay Leno lol... Thanks for watching mate, it's much appreciated!

Meant to be a cafe racer isn't it? Think the original torque arm fulfils that brief better - simple, unadorned and functional. Seems to be morphing into a rat rod and I was looking forward to the cafe racer look.

cue the rattle cans of 'tuff black'
I really enjoy the fabrication. But, rat bikes are really over-played. It's actually way, way harder (imo) to make a clean 'normal' custom.
... and more expensive!
Del you shoud buy TIG welder.
I have one, just not the skills to use it yet (in fact it's just a basic arc welder which I could use on scratch start), it's on the bucket list mate!
I find TIG welding is easier than MIG when material is thick.
You said the distance between hole centres is 1.5mm bigger, but then you said the holes still line up. I’m confused 🤷♂️
