This must be the most visual impacting film that Elvis ever made, the colour, scenery and extras together with the songs make this about the best film he ever made with GI blues running a close second. You look at all those beautiful young people in the film have now grown old and even those children will now be in their sixties. When you think about it this film was made over 60 yrs ago.
It actually still looks like this the last time I saw The Polynesian Center. I grew up in Oahu as a child and loved visiting this with Friends and Family.
Elvis is still love by local people. This was at the Polynesian Cultural Center on the North Shore of O’ahu. I worked there as a college student at Brigham Young University- Hawaii. Drums of the Islands was originally titled “Bula Maleya”.
What A Great Presentation . * Of Hawaii , Thank You Elvis And The People Of The Hawaiian Islands . * Beautiful Tropical Paradise . * When Life Was Fun * And Exciting . * Pure And Simple . *
They are all the different people and culture of the Pacific Islands .. Hawaii Fiji Samoa Rarotonga Tonga Aotearoa just to name a few but it's great to see Elvis perform and relax and enjoy himself in this movie 🌴☀️🤙

I miss this time so much. I had just started dating in high school in the mid and late sixties. The Elvis movies were making the rounds in all the drive-in's and me and my girl did not miss a one of them. They were the only drive-in movies we both went to just to watch the movie. They were so much fun for our generation. The spooning would just have to wait until after the movie. My girl made that quite clear to me. And know what? I agreed with her. What a great time that was. Yeah, I know. The sixties and seventies had their own problems. Vietnam (I did my time there), etc. But it was still a great time to be a teen-ager. I could sure stand a dose of it again.
I am glad I lived in these times and saw all the Elvis movies at the show with cousins and we really had fun popcorn fights but just loved Elvis. I remember when the show started my heart skipped beat watching Elvis on the big screen with all of his beautiful music. It was a thrill to see him and it was a special day. The 60's was a very special time to live! Not like now. There will never be anyone like him. God Bless Elvis!
I love this movie Blue Hawaii with Elvis my favorite favorite star...he has left us with so many beautiful and endearing memories he is always in my heart and he will never be forgotten...love you love you Elvis Guyana South America
Wish Elvis lived. His 85 birthday today. Still love his music. His music will live on forever and a day! We all miss you Elvis. Happy Birthday! May you always rest in peace.
My dad was an elvis fan this was one of his favourite songs I love all the memories off all the elvis movies we watched together and thankful for all the Elvis records he shared with me.. They are both gone but live on.. Sweet memories ❤❤❤
Elvis Presley was and still is so so Gifted in every ways 😘😘👍👍👌👌💞💞, the Movies especially Blue Hawaii and all the ither Songs was so appropriate for that moments and others too on Stages Concerts. RIP Elvis Presley. We love you lots lots and you still makes Us and the Global World Happy especially this Century. ☦️🛐🙏🏻🤲👍❤️🔥❤️🔥🌟🌟😘😘😘😘
We will never grow tired of his movies, videos, and any of his acting singing and concert material. Love every bit of it. Always ready to sit and see it anytime. Love my Elvis. Never grow old or tired of his music or of his one of a kind God given talent and miraculous voice.
I hummed this song to google..because I didn't know the words...and it led me here...I watched this movie with my grandmother years and more years ago...I always remembered the melody...but didn't know the words..evern tried search for the scene..using words...couldn't find it...Google is a trip...just hummed the melody...and found it..crazy
I was going to say the same thing. Elvis and Hawaii, what could be better ? Other than living there in the 60s and 70s, I guess ! Fortunate people to see either !
We can proudly say that the king went to Pacific IslandS. Paradise. In Hawaii it has all the Pacific in the village. He had an affinity with the Pacific people. Because we look like his own ancestors Cherokees. We are connected to the land spiritually. For him it's like stepping back in time. Peaceful and away from a western man's world. R.I.P. The handsome King Elvis Presley.
Just beautiful I've always loved this song since I was a little girl, proud Polynesian here, Kia Orana! 🌺 Kia Ora from Aotearoa New Zealand! ☺️✌️ Rest in heavenly love and peace Elvis 🕊️
I’ve been a fan all my life. My husband and I got married in Hawaii because of Elvis. Its soooo beautiful and I will always remember Elvis and always have an infinity with the Hawaiian island’s STUNNING xx
When my late hubby was in the Aussie Army he went to Hawaii on the air craft carrier that kept on crashing into other ships. A photo was taken of him and 2 other Army blokes at the spot that Elvis sang some of his songs in Blue Hawaii. I need to have it recoloured but it will always be a fantastic reminder of a fantastic Aussie soldier.
I have listened to Elvis from when I was about the age of 11 years old his voice when he sings his songs is outstanding and so mellow there is no artist today will ever match him I listen to him every day I am 65 years old and he will always be my favorite singer
Nobody could sing a song the way Elvis did it. I know a lady who cries every time she thinks about Elvis. SOme times I would start to sing like him and it would bring tears to her eyes.
The Polynesian Cultural Center (there this was filmed) isn't just an attraction, it's a living laboratory, the only wan to experience the major Pacific cultures in a single day. The money spent there pays the scholarships of the students at Brigham Young University Hawaii, where a young man can major in Computers and minor in Canoe Pushing. After filming, when it was time for Elvis to head back to the mainland, he stopped one last time there to say farewell to all of his new hanai family, and left all but buried in leis.
I went to Hawaii in early 80’s.. before it changed to hotels galore on the beach etc… now ya can’t see the “ pink palace hotel” from the beach😡..we did Oahu and Maui .. I did recognise Polynesian cultural centre as from the film., stunning place n one day I’d luv to go back n do the rest of the islands!…

I once heard, “Comparing another singer to Elvis Presley is like comparing another human being to God.” Can’t say I disagree. ❤
