It’s my favorite part of Alvin’s videos actually - the side quests err side recipes.
This is my idea of the Minecraft Cake.
Minecraft origins from Sweden.
A traditional cake from here would be "pannkakstårta"(Translation=pancake cake
) If you look it up it as reasonably similarity to the Minecraft Cake.
In Sweden we would then take traditional Swedish Pancakes layer them with any local berries jam and cream sugar etc. So each layer would be a pancake sugar, cream and jam.
On top of the cake should be a cream layer with fresh strawberrys.
This is what i allways thought the Minecraft Cake was. Which is also why i think the receipe is closer to a pancake then a cake.

I've always thought that the "True" Minecraft cake should be a Tres Leches cake. A meringue based cake with three kinds of milk fits the ingredients perfectly, and they're often served with cherries on top like the Minecraft cake.

Honestly what it did make was way more edible than I expected!
It’s has no leavening aka no rising agent so it can’t develop that spongy texture unless you beat the eggs how you would do for a soufflé

I always figured the berries in Minecraft were lingon berries, seeing as Mojang is a Swedish company. Raspberries sound very tasty as well
They definitely look like lingonberries since they're so round, but I suppose the flavor is pretty similar
Most likely strawberries. To me it looks like the cake is based on gräddtårta/jordgubbstårta which is just like an easy to make cake we eat around summer (when the strawberries are ripe). You can copy the names since they have IKEAlanguage letters if you want to google and see how it looks.

I really don't get why people hate fondant, it's literally just solid sugar.
@@yocapo32 Because it tastes bad? It's not solid sugar, it's also a lot of corn syrup and often gelatin. There's also more to taste than just ingredients. Better to just use modelling chocolate or a stiff royal icing.

With the "maybe" cake, perhaps you could separate the egg whites out, beat them into a meringue, and then fold in the yolks, sugar, and flour.

Since Minecraft is a Swedish game, I would guess the cake actually is a strawberry cake with whipped cream on top (never frosting!). This is the second most common cake in Sweden :)

Since it looks elevated when made the cake should probably be made into a sponge cake that absorbs the milk which is also known as tres leches cake.

I remember when 7y/o me tried to make cake by putting milk, eggs, sugar and bread (because i didn't have wheat) on a blender because of the Minecraft crafting recipe
I always thought the cake was like a very classic Swedish strawberry cake - with whipped cream and strawberries on top
You can “leaven” by separating the eggs and making a meringue of the whites, folding in your sugar and yolks and milk, then mixing in the flour, then baking.
Will this make the cake more airy? As opposed to dense? Like will there be more rise?
@@spookycakes4667 yes, because it traps air pockets in the mixture. It’s how they made cakes rise before they had baking soda if they weren’t using yeast.

A lot of people thinks that all of the milk and sugar goes intro the cake, but the cake has the icing (milk and sugar combined)
True, I imagined that's why the milk was always put on top of the grid, because it makes up the frosting.

If you count the milk for also making butter and more quantities of ingredients, you can get pretty close to making an edible cake, however without the baking soda it will taste very different. You would just have pancakes with icing on top.

You're making me remember being a kid. In Sweden what we mean by "pancakes" is the thin ones, and after we'd eaten pancakes and had leftovers, we'd cut the leftovers into ribbons and fry it in a mix of sugar and butter. mmmm.

I'm honestly surprised that the actual proportions made something edible at all, props to salvaging it into something extra tasty!
Suggestion, try whipping the eggs and sugar together at the start, to a creamy state, then add the flour. And bake it in the oven, before using some heavy cream (is essentially milk based :P ) to make whipping cream with a touch of sugar to use as the frosting part.
