- How to win at News Debates? I don't know. But, with the help of a "crab" and hummus - I figured it out, after they stopped calling me.

I've done about 70 news debates on pretty much all the mainstream Indian news channels - Times Now, NDTV, CNN-IBN, Republic TV etc. etc. Some of them are genuinely quite insightful and you learn new things - I honestly used to go to hear opinions different from mine - and I enjoyed that part. The theatricality of it is also interesting, up to a point - and maybe this video is about that point being crossed.

Aakash Mehta is every comedian's Archana Puran Singh.
He doesn't get paid though. Yet.
A confession: As I deliver lectures before my students, I try to emulate your style; in adding slight colours and spices (at times not even that) to what actually happens in the society, and it works all the times. Entertaining the students is of prime importance for making the point inside the classroom. And I know personally the risk you run into every time you engage in unscripted conversation with your audience; but that's what gives your performance the collaborative effect, and the unpredictable and realistic charm. I'll keep imbibing, whether you like or not.

This set is like a perfect journey. The beginning is smooth, the "kekda" mention though first time a bit random, becomes hilarious as you go along. Towards the end when you think you got it all figured out, surprise bitch :p if only Sorabh ended it by saying " And that's the bottom line!"

I particularly remember one debate in early 2000, in which a Kargil soldier presumed dead returns to his home and finds his wife married to someone else and now pregnant. The debate on TV with both sides of the family (including pregnant wife) were finding a resolution to whom should the wife go to and whom should the kid go to.
Wow. Have to search for that!
The girl was sent back to the first husband perhaps... After days long debate...

Just googled it. That guy married the girl just 10 days before he was called for war. He returned after 4 years. And won her wife (dont call me misogynist, wiki says she choose 1st husband under tremendous pressure and his child was also not accepted fully). But she died 2 yrs later in 2006. She got miscarriages and depressions and other diseases. He married to another girl later, who also died from cancer. She gave birth to a baby, and guess what? she has a hole in her heart.

Comedy has certainly come a long way. Dude, I remember watching ghanta awards with phallic simulation jokes and kela awards being given to finally seen you grow so much. Also it's time to bring Ritesh Deshmukh to your podcast.

I have stopped watching debates especially on Godi media, for being one-sided. I mean they should just rename those channels to PIB says.
