Maybe I'm showing my age, but I could sit and listen to these all day. Appreciate it! The family and I are coming up to the pigeon forge area mid January. We love it up yonder.

Brings back many memories! We would travel back and forth on the weekends to Kentucky to see my grandparents on 27 and stop for lunch in that area. I remember watching New River as we drove.

I can’t imagine a car or truck going across that bridge! It doesn’t look wide enough for one to pass over. Thanks for showing us this area. There are a lot of “bad” people out there. No young or older lady ( or man) should be out there by themselves.

I LOVE old bridges! We have one near my CT house that is completely hidden due to overgrowth. I think only those of us that were in the area early 80’s knows about it. These old bridges have some stories to tell! Thank you for sharing!

I enjoy all the old school remnants. Along the Desmoines river here there are many pylons left from old bridges. Mostly constructed with huge limestone blocks. Everytime I look at them I think how cool it would be to repurpos them into a structure on an acreage.
    Looks like good fishing.

What a beautiful area. Scary looking bridge to drive over. It would be scary at night though. I wish so much that i could travel and see some of your area. I love Appalachian homestead too. I always wonder if she is close to you at all. Thank you for sharing!❤

One more thought. It is very surprising if you examine under bridges, even on major heavily traveled roadways, the conditions some are in !
    Thanks again

Thank you for sharing! I really like historical videos like this. We had a similar bridge near us that was moved to the site of a recreation of a pioneer village. That bridge had a legend attached to it too and it’s called “monkey woman bridge “

Wow! Mr Creekmore your big beautiful back yard is amazing. Where I live in SW Nebraska our rivers are running dry. It's alarming to watch 50-60 miles recede in the past 30 years. The aquifer has dropped substantially as well. Too much pivot irrigation on land that should have never been broke out.

This area reminds me of north west Arkansas. There’s a creek with a campground up there- so many times we’ve helped lost ppl, people with vehicle break downs and so on. It’s amazing to me the single women who go out on their own to camp in that remote area. I don’t think it’s a very good idea.

After seeing the flooding and mud slides in videos of W NC I can believe that bridge would be washed out. Be safe out there crazy people everywhere.

Excellent video! We checked out the bridge on Google Earth, what are the two rivers come together down below, the water looks like it gets pretty big. We live in Allegany County Maryland and the topography is just about the same. We live along the headwaters of the Potomac River. I prefer the rivers and the mountains over and Ocean view any day

Beautiful scenery and history there MD. Looking at that river and those cliffs, rocks 🪨 sure makes me want to fish 🐠 there 😂. Grew up river fishing with my dad but he's 81 now and not able to go anymore unfortunately 😞.
    Thanks for Sharing MD.

Curious, what is the wooden ? structure on the right side of the river off the new bridge?
Also any clue where the mill was? I'm guessing a sawmill? Thanks

As a kid we'd take jerry cans and chainsaws and go to lookout mtn. Trails became roads now. The dragon is the best example.

  • @franny5295

That cave might be a good place to ride out an "event" if you can stay above the water line inside it.
Edited to add: Bridges make me nervous. Too many have had parts fall through and people drive into the hole.
Edited again to add: That older bridge actually looks kind of sturdy for it being so old. And that girl might have been a trap.
Edited again to add: Absolutely not. That old bridge is fine to walk on but even a horse might be pushing it.
