    This ref helped me to totally stop international fencing. He was my referee in pool last time I fenced a world cup. I fence for a small nation so he didn’t even watch the touches. I scored only one light and every other touch was for my opponent. Why would you train, pay and travel to find this on your way?

    Keep reporting like this. Sabre's rules changes have allowed referees to make whatever call they want. There was always cheating, but now it's absurd and the simultaneous calls in the box are such coin toss that you can say anything with deniable plausibility.

    @kiltedjade 3 дня назад +34

    You mention the psychological impact, but there's also the strategic impact. If I know the ref is against me, I have to go for completely unambiguous points. This is a serious disadvantage even if there are no additional bad calls.

    Thank you so much for your videos!!!!
    Please keep doing this!!!
    My 10-year-old daughter was the victim of a conspiracy between the head coach and the judge, and the whole point is that my daughter was fencing with the daughter of another judge in the final.
    I watched disgusting refereeing.
    I sent the video of the fight to several judges and they were amazed at how rotten the refereeing was...
    I have written more than five letters to various functionaries of children's fencing, but they are not even going to review the results of that ill-fated fencing match.
    My daughter has experienced so much frustration and stress because of the arbitrariness of dishonest adults... But God sees everything, and they will be rewarded for their crimes.

    how Perdibaeva still managed to keep this much composure despite that many wrong calls is beyond me
    Martilotti has been a very good ref in the past, which makes this even more dangerous

    • @Dd-ue4ct
      @Dd-ue4ct 3 дня назад +5

      Yeah Martilotti has generally been pretty good. Definitely not ideal if even the "good" ones can't be trusted not to flip

    • @leftysabreuse3257
      @leftysabreuse3257 3 дня назад +3

      @Dd-ue4ct and to make it even more complicated, (if I understood correctly-please note: everything in this comment is alleged) Martilotti (along with Papa Toure) himself got wrongfully suspended as a referee after reffing the finals at the Budapest world championships-- where Korea beat Hungary. His refereeing was fine and perhaps even fair, and I think even in another video Slicer sabre quotes the Hungarian fencers not having an issue with the refereeing. What I mean is, Luigi Martilotti himself may have been punished unfairly in the past for not propping up a pro-Orban agenda. Doesn't excuse anything here of course.

      @@leftysabreuse3257 wouldn't be surprised if Budapest was a "warning" of sorts to Martilotti to fall in line.

    It's so frustrating that USAFencing and the fencing FIE in general refuse to do anything as they find no wrong. It has destroyed my confidence in fencing as a community.

    • @tylerperlenfein
      @tylerperlenfein День назад +1

      USA Fencing probably can't do much to an FIE Ref, especially when the tournaments happen outside the USA.
      Obviously, that doesn't excuse the FIE and their behavior.

    I beg to differ, fencers, although not equally responsible, should still face consequences. They can still understand that it is simply wrong. Just because they are young doesn’t mean they are oblivious to what is going om.

    boycott is the only chance for highlighting this issue. participating in this and voting for Usmanov will make high level fencing pathetic and meaningless. and this condition of integrity will really threaten sabre fencing for being left out in future olympics.

    "Follow the Money" A long, in depth google search with this title, along with the name of a libertarian from Canada who now lives in Japan and your world view could be potentially changed permately, but since this is a channel about fencing let's just stick to the phrase. "Follow the money" and you'll see why this ref did what he did.

    Thanks for sharing this video, I think there is significant evidence here that the referee was biased toward the fencer on the left. Consider that perhaps he does not have control over this situation and he has been threatened by someone in order for this to happen. I'm not saying it's right (quite the contrary), if it was you, how would you respond when your livelihood (income and lifestyle) would be affected negatively; potentially you would be removed from your chosen profession and your life turned upside down if you didn't do as you were told? Food for thought

  • @paules3437
    @paules3437 2 дня назад

    Can't say that first touch that is "clearly wrong" looks wrong to me. The fencer on the left also extended her arm.This is the trouble with sabre, which no longer allows compound attacks (like, say, two coupes, which used to be a right-of-way compound attack but which is now seen as a failed attack on the first coupé and a remise on the second. I give up.
