    whenever "consecutive" is employed I immediately divide in half. I.E. 60÷2 = 30.
    30 is even and is disqualified. BUT 29 and 31 qualify as both odd and consecutive odd. And their sum is 60.
    final ans. c) 29. 31

    You don't even have to think about it; there's only one pair of numbers there that are odd and consecutive.

    After have been researching a bit on the web about the terms you have used in the problem (being not a native English speaker nor user, I'm not familiar with english math language) I think I'll go for c) 29,31.

    Giving us a choice of answers means that we don't actually have to work anything out
    29 and 31 are the two consecutive odd integers that add up to 60.
    However .. thay to work it out is to divide 60 by 2 60/2 = 30
    and then add and subtract 1 30 + 1 = 31 30 - 1 = 29

    x + (x + 2) = 60
    2x = 58
    x = 29
    The two odd numbers are 29 and 31

    Kind of easy.. only ONE set were consecutive ODDs. Didn't really need algebra :(
    But fun algebraically.

    The only option with two consecutive odd integers is c 29, 31. No need to do any math.
    You can also solve it algebraically:
    x + x + 2 = 60
    2x + 2 = 60
    2x = 58
    x = 29
    Hence, 29 and 31.

    Too easy. "Consecutive" was the giveaway. Choices a), b), and d) aren't consecutive (there are other odd integers between them on the number line). But choice c) is obviously consecutive.

    If the sum is 60 the average will be 30 (as there are 2 terms). Therefore the even number between the two odd numbers is 30. The two odd numbers must be 29 and 31.

    At the title , the answer is c) 29,31.
    Half of 60 is 30, so the integers are 30-1 and 30+1.

    Showed this to my 10yo grabdson & after explaining what consecutive & what sum meant he went with C immediately, perhaps you could have put in another consecutive series instead of only focusing on the sum aspect

      Andy math did one on Nov 28, 2023. The product of 4 consecutive positive even integers is 13440. A little more challenging.

    You have four choices for the answer. Of those, only one choice, that being "C"- actually consists of two consecutive odd integers. You didn't need any algebraic "two ecks plus two equals sixty" kind of math mambajamba to solve this; all you had to do was pick the one and only answer that actually had two consecutive odd integers. In other words, to make us think and work to solve the problem, Mr. RUclips Math Man should have made the multiple choice answers less obvious.

    Hey Mr YT Math, you need to reinforce the purpose of your videos. Obviously a lot of people in the comment section don't know that you are teaching for those who need to learn the basics.
    I get it now and I appreciate easier problems because I measure my progress in the process. ;)

    My answer is (c)

  • @panlomito
    @panlomito 4 месяца назад +1

    That's quite easy: 60/2 = 30 so the integers are 29 and 31.
    And then you also could find the answer in this stupid multiple choice with NO consecutive odd integers except for answer C. But that is not my kind of math. I don't understand why John started with these prefabricated answers that kills math skills... Wow, my first poetic contribution in English... I will make future references with KMS for these multiple choice answers.
