Michael is one of the greatest motorcyclists I have ever watched, and that is many, anyone doubting that should watch the clips on him cornering in the IOM with his head in the hedge, a more dedicated man it is hard to find.
It's gas how some people in the thread are giving out about not getting to see the race because of the organisers keeping them back. It's 2024 and we still have road racing. Be thankful that it still exists in this day and age ffs.
I agree with Michael. The sighting lap is a waste of time if you've already raced, they sit on the grid for 10 minutes after the sighting lap before the race anyway.

grow up, it's the same for everyone...in pretty much every MC series, if you don't make the sighting/warm up lap, you then start from the back of the grid....right?
This is typical of the organisers of the event who have never ever rode or ever raced one! Michael knows the course inside out & for a rider who can Lap the more difficult IOM AT OVER 136MPH The NW is a MOTORWAY! Stupid rule the rider should decide about his warm up lap!

Also where there are rules they are same for everyone! I do like Michael tho, this isn't comment against him but probably decision was in his best interest.
They did a sighting lap, (warm up lap), then the race started but was red flagged during the 1st lap. When the race restarted the riders were told that the full 6 laps would be ran instead of 5. Dunlop went to the pits, they did a 2nd sighting lap and then lined up on the grid for the restart. They then asked Dunlop to remove his bike and that he wasn't allowed to race because he had ran the obligatory sighting lap. Apparently he thought that because they'd already done one sighting lap, they didn't need to do a 2nd and was so disqualified
Why wouldn’t he return to the NW. everybody else did the sighting lap, that’s the rules. Very rude person you are all over RUclips when it comes to the NW organisers. Everything ok with you.

You can agree but the rules say he needed to complete the lap.
He's experienced enough to know what the rules are and what the penalty is if you break them.

Fair play to Michael he's in great shape these days, looking fit
That was a disgrace stopping Michael .. omg he already did the sighting lap before the red flag!!! Sometimes the rules are bonkers
It would be unfair to the other riders! It's the same rule's for them all regardless of who they are 🤷 as it should be.
Plus, in the need for organization and safety you have to penalize stragglers.
