This is a phenomenal piano rendition of a phenomenal track from a phenomenal soundtrack. What I love most about this particular track is that it doesn't just set out to be "intimidating" or scary, it's actually quite melancholic. Very, very beautiful.
this piece sounds like or reminds me of a Fugue from Bach or something similar. my childhood was made magical due to whoever made music like this. it will always have a special place in my heart.
I went to my local music store and saw this exact book on the shelf and had a look at the table of contents. When I saw this song was in it, I bought it.
I remember getting this game when it first came out. I first played it at Sears in the boys clothing section... I was too young to appreciate the complex music but as an adult i'm definitely impressed and in awe
Don't worry, he is absolutely a legend. He is cited as one of the greatest video game composers of all time, mostly known for composing almost all of the Mario and Zelda soundtracks.
First of all, this is amazing! Really nice work. Just some thoughts from a fellow pianist: 0:26 - I think this would be better if you kept the bass louder, the balance in the previous part was perfect but you bring it right back here which I'm not sure I agree with, would be a nice spot to show off more of the great voicing you do in other parts. 0:50 could do with some more dynamic contrast, it's all just "loud" in a really heavy call and response type section, you could either have each second chord of the pairs quieter (DUN-dun.... DUN-dun) or maybe have the lower pairs quieter, either way could definitely do something more interesting here! 1:03 God the phrasing on these runs is absolutely incredible, great work. And the voicing with the left hand is amazing too 1:22 The left hand gets louder here but I don't think it should, I think it sounds perfect at the volume from the previous section, and I think exaggerating the voicing would be really nice here. Most of this is just nit-picking or even personal preference, this is a really amazing performance, especially those arpeggio runs are just gorgeous. My thoughts basically just amount to you could be a bit more artistic with the dynamics, especially the balance between the parts. Amazing work, keep it up!
first off I must ask if I'm talented I can actually play this & Kyle Landry's version of Gerudo valley with most of the left hand in tact. I personally like video game music :)
First of all, holy shit that was impressive. Second, I'm not quite sure I agree with the bass during the bridge of the song. As in; the MIDI has that 'berWAAber' for the bass [if I can even type that correctly HAHA] the same, I feel, could be done on piano. Whereas you hit the 8th notes as you've done while you do the triplet runs, but every half note, you hit the above octave on it harder to say 'yeah, this is how hard this song hits'. Or, just take my first sentence compliment and ignore my madman scribblings HAHAH again, absolutely great work.
This is the first performance of this piece that captures the virtuoso elements exactly like the original. Its so accurate and satisfying.
Duuuh
I have so much trouble performing this part.
@@BuxigaI'm still trying to figure out the perfect fingering.
Have you ever heard the version by video game pianist? It is a very old video but sounds almost exactly like the one in the video game.
No his version does the arpeggios incorrectly. He does more octaves but fewer repeating notes which this piece absolutely fucking nails.
I almost cried. This is in my opinion the hreatest song ever made for a videogame!
we can not be friends...

I can imagine Ludwig Von Koopa playing this as mario ascends the castle

I just realized that the Mario games where not only good because of game play but because of the great soundtracks. OMG
💯 Nintendo was built on Miyamoto's games and Koji Kondo's music!
Well played. Good to see a real person actually play it and know it can be done.
What how does this only have 25 views I just saw this amazing performance I am trying to learn the piece myself!
Thanks so much! This song is really fun to play once you get it up to speed so definitely keep at it!

The 1:03 is very similar to the final section of the Prelude in C Minor of the Well templed clavier :3

Sometimes I'll scan through two hours worth of videos until I find the perfect one. This is it.
Amazing. Just started to learn the keyboard at age 40, this is god like level to me.
Been playing since I was in diapers and this is god-like in my book too haha such an incredible piece.
The control is insane
I have this book.
I was studying this one, because I liked it since ever.
I was on the arpeggios and my wife came by and asked "Is that Chopin?"
Best piano version I’ve heard
This is so good!! Takes me back!!
Whoever had the intuition to create this piece for a computer game 35 years ago is a legend!
Don't worry, he is absolutely a legend. He is cited as one of the greatest video game composers of all time, mostly known for composing almost all of the Mario and Zelda soundtracks.
He is; Koji Kondo is legendary among video game composers and for good reason.
Who new Mario songs could sound so classical! We’ll played ! Amazing ! Cant stop watching it
mario music is so underrated cos people only know the main theme but there so many other hidden masterpieces
The second half of this is near perfection
Absolute chills
Now this is something I can get behind, none of that synthesia with 7 voices; I have a piano not an organ
touches my soul
really breathtaking. Everything captured exactly as original, but it sounds as a orchestra!
La mejor adaptacion en piano que he visto
Nothing else to add, nor subtract... Perfect!!
That was beautiful.

what do you call the bit at 1:00 on the right hand?
That transition is a descending B diminished 7 chord. It starts with 3rd interval skips, then goes to straight arpeggios.
