Hi, the course I’m doing is finishing now, but if you join Molly’s mailing list that’s where she lets people know what’s coming up www.mollyrobertsmagick.com/
I love my journal as well, but also found myself falling away and I realized it was because I was trying to do mine like everyone else and realized this is MY journal and I can set it up in whatever way makes ME happy. It gave me such freedom and I now adore my journal. 🥰
Finding that balance between being inspired by seeing how other people do it, and not then getting too influenced by them, I’m working on that 😆 I love what I it said about realising it’s YOUR journal ❤️
@@JessicaandtheMoon exactly my problem. I found watching the bujo channel (the guy who invented it) made it easier for me to start off with the simple setups he shows
@@rosebricksis I think if I do start bullet journaling again I will go back to basics. It all got so layered and complicated and that’s where it went wrong I think.
I used a bullet journal from 2012 until like 2019. It stopped working for me because of the pandemic, but also because i discovered bullet journaling youtubers and a counts on instagram and i noticed everyone was very into the decoration and making it pretty and a million spreads, and so bullet journaling turned into a chore. It used to be a productivity tool for me, genuinely a productivity tool that helped me through undergrad and graduate studies, but the pressure of making it pretty got to me. People focus too much on the decoration and not enough on the system, i think that is one of the reasons why it fails.
There is so much shared on bullet journaling which has very little to do with the original method. And I don’t mind that, I love seeing those gorgeous journals, but it’s often not really bullet journaling as it was originally intended. I think where I lost the plot with it wasn’t so much with the decoration etc. I actually love that and find it helpful and soothing (though I totally agree with what you said about it shouldn’t feel like a chore) but I wanted a way of planning which was less about productivity and more about self-exploration. I may come back to the original method in the future, but for now I’m carving out some space to play and see what happens. I hope you find a system which serves you and your goals moving into next year ❤️
Rachael Stephen who also does witchy bullet journaling is working on a card deck to compliment her planning systems. It is so interesting how many different ways that journaling and planning can be used. I find that I need to write things out to make them stick, and am more and more analog everyday.
@@JessicaandtheMoon , while you have contrasting styles I have enjoyed how you both incorporate the tape and dutch doors. I hope you find joy and solace in your journaling process!
I can't explain how much I'm loving this video. The reflexions, your voice, your little laughs, the spread themselves, the different kinds of journaling you showed. It is so relaxing and it is inspiring me in so many ways which I can't explain hahahsha. New sub
Thank you so much ☺️ that really means a lot. I’m so glad you’re feeling inspired- that’s what I hope for when I share my explorations with my journals ❤️
Incredible timing (as always!) on showing your revamped system. I binge-watched your old journaling videos last weekend to get inspired and to find a way to reset. I want so much to be organized and have a place to exist and grow, but I struggle with the systems and consistency. I love the direction you're going and love that you're offering permission to get away from traditional bullet journaling and into this more magical and vulnerable place. I appreciate as well this figuring out as you go method. I can start experimenting today and see what'll work in the future. Not just wait for the perfect inspiration to hit and then get started. I started really deep diving into goal setting last night and finding different ways to get at what's really important to me. Away from the shoulds and into a beautiful space of authenticity. This video is offering a new perspective that I greatly needed! Thank you for all that you offer 💖
I’m so happy reading this Kate ❤️ You said it so well - experimenting and finding what works is the point of it. That’s where the learning and value is. Your goal setting session sounds exciting!
It’s really hard to share your personal journals on RUclips but like you, I find so much value in seeing others so I try to share too. 🙂 I love your setup combining the digital planning with the spiritual journaling. That’s such a great way to combine the mundane and the magical. Thank you so much for sharing with us. It’s much appreciated. ❤
I think you can personalize how you use your bullet journal. It can be anything... So actually you didn't quit but you found another way to use it imo :) But I like the message that if it doesn't work for you, you shouldn't force yourself to keep doing it. Bujo should be useful, not an obligation
Thank you Tessa 🙏🏻 I think I’ve strayed a bit too far out of the bujo territory to still call it a bullet journal now, but I totally agree that there is a lot of flexibility in bullet journaling ❤️
You’re so right your most personal journal experiences are the most captivating to watch! It’s like sharing something sacred and translating your experiences to another. we all hold it dearly. Thank you for sharing! Beautiful!!
This is gorgeous 💗 I have never been able to bullet journal becos it's so compartmentalized, and so much of my life isn't separate from other things so I really struggle to put things into boxes where there's no flow. I do enjoy habit tracking though, but again, it needs to flow. I love the way your journal feels almost grimoire like, or like a book of mirrors. This is so very inspiring
🙏🏻 thank you I definitely see my journal as being a grimoire, though I also have plans to make a more witchy heirloom grimoire in an enormous book ☺️ Finding our own flow is so important, like you said. I feel like I find it, but then things shift and I have to find it again. But I guess that’s part of the fun ❤️
I moved over to doing a similar method at the beginning of 2022! I really like the practicality of having Notion for planning day-to-day and projects. I can use it literally anywhere, I can move things, delete them, it's perfect. But I love using a physical journal for artistic spreads. Setting up for the new year, trackers, random artsy spreads that I'm inspired to create. I like to call it my fandom journal because it's usually just dedicated to me creatively enthusing over things I love. I'm still trying to find that perfect balance of what goes into Notion vs physical journal and still trying to figure out all of Notion's features, but I think it works really well for me. Now if I could just get more consistent with USING this great system I've set up...
What a beautiful and honest video. I've always admired your bullet journals and how clever they were, as you had somehow found a way to combine the beautful layouts with functional use. Something I had given up after only a year of bullet journaling back in 2017. As I was at loss for how to continue, I ended up getting the book by Ryder Carol, the one who invented the method and what I soon learned from everything he wrote is to make it yours. It's something that you adjust for yourself, so it works for you. Since then I have notebooks with a specific purpose; tarot learning/spreads, commonplace notebook for random scribbles, a notebook for my penpals, something for my fountain pens and inks and so on. The day to day things like to do lists, grocery lists, mealplanning are all digital, as well as my calendar. Somet things I did keep from the method are the use of an index and the idea of a key, everything else is gone for now in my system. Anyway, thank you for giving us permission to finding our own way in this. I would love to see more about how you set up Notion and look forward to seeing how you continue on this path. ❤
Thank you Sarah ❤️ it sounds like you have found a way which is working for you, and it sounds really fun too. I always love the idea of a commonplace book! I definitely need my journal to be practical and functional as well as pleasing for me to look at and use, which I think is why I panicked a bit when I didn’t need a lot of my usual spreads anymore. But like you said it’s finding what works for us. And that seems to be shifting for me now.
Love this, I have gotten very obsessed with Notion this past year, it doesn't replace my paper planner which is necessary for me, but a lot of things go into Notion, yours is really gorgeous aesthetically!!
❤️ Kelly, thanks for watching. Notion is soooo compelling 😆 I can’t stop tinkering with it. But I’m with you, I think paper planning will always be necessary for me.
For habit tracking I bought one on Amazon that's a spiral bound monthly one. There's daily, weekly, and monthly plans on it. I'm loving it. It stays out where I can see it everyday when I won't necessarily see my BUJO everyday. I bought a plain white one I could decorate.
Oh, that sounds cool! So you just fill in the things you want to track? There’s a ready printed habit tracker in the Writual Planner I’m using for 2023, so I’ll be able to try that out and see how it works for me. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment ❤️
This was so affirming to see. Notion has changed my life. It’s ironic, I wanted to start bullet journaling because I found your videos. But after two years of not being able to start or finish I realized maybe it wasn’t how I needed to organize my life and occult practice. I’m a graphic designer professionally and notion felt so natural and accessible to me. I didn’t need to worry about “ruining” a spread. But like you said, there are still things I want to keep physical and not in notion.
❤️ I’m glad this resonated with you Em. I bet your Notion is beautiful. I can get carried away seeing the ways other people plan and work on personal growth and want to use their systems. But then I find it doesn’t work and I used to think it was something wrong with me, but I’m coming around to the idea that it’s the system not me - and it sounds like you’re in that place too ❤️ I think figuring out what works for us, as individual creative people, is part of the learning of journaling. And it’s a big part of the magic 🦋
Your journaling videos was what got me started with my witchy grimoire/bullet journaling. I've tweaked it over the two years that I've been using it, so I understand the revamping after a while. I love calling it a spiritual book more than a bullet journal. I have a lot of different journals set up for different items, so I also feel a bit scattered but its hard to get everything into one book. I love your idea about the houses, so I might try to incorporate that into my new junk grimoire I'm making. I would love a timelord video, I'm getting more into Hellenistic astrology myself so I would love your take on it.
❤️ thank you Liz I think sometimes the system needs to become destabilised to find a better option (and Uranus is in Taurus 😉) but feeling scattered is unsettling. I’ve made a note of the time lord video. And I still haven’t made the honeycomb how I’m using it, but think that will be next year now 🙈
I love this video! I ended up doing something similar over the latter part of this year. What I've ended up with is kind of a seasonal record book where I include tarot spreads and slap down ephemera with no remorse. My planning works better for me if it's kept in a smaller, more streamlined setup. I have a pretty good groove going right now and intend to take it into 2023.
Wow! Your journals are beautiful and very inspiring. I keep a bullet journal for my day-to-day schedule and to-dos and use Notion as well. I feel a bit all over the place sometimes always switching gears between analog and digital. I too love the feeling of putting actual pen to paper and holding a physical journal. I really want to work more on my art journaling though and maybe this is where I need to take my journaling journey. Thank you for the inspiration! 💛
Thank you Marie, I’m so glad you enjoyed this ❤️ I’ve definitely noticed that I can play with more art in my journal now that it’s not also my calendar etc. I hope you find a balance which works for you.
Thank you for sharing. Your journals are beautiful. If they are holding you, then you must be a beautiful person. I love that you shared it. I often struggle to figure out what I want in mine and I found your journal so inspiring. Thanks again.
I’m glad I found this! No one really talks about using BOTH digital and physical journaling. I’ve been doing this for years.. I have an agenda journal, a grimoire, and digital lists and habit trackers. You’ve inspired me to eventually share how I setup each one. 😊
❤️ I’m glad you found this useful, and that it’s inspired you to share your own process. You’re right, it’s hard to find people who use digital and analogue, so it’s great that you’re going to do that 🙏🏻
I love this video. As someone who has changed their journal style more than they've had hot dinners I'd say the best thing is just to try things out and accept if it's not for you then so be it. I'm also a bit of a throw everything into one notebook but I do find digital journaling interesting ☺️
Haha, I love that you feel happy trying things Millie, that’s exactly how it should be. I feel like mine has changed a lot over the years, but I do have to check myself because since I started sharing my journal on my channel it has the potential to make me less likely to experiment. And I don’t want that.
I have separate books for everyday stuff, lists, appointments and such. Then another one for dreams, reflections on therapy, tarot reading, crystal ball gazing visions. That journal is sacred to me. BTW yes please share what you mean by planet of the year! I am not familiar with that concept!
Sacred journal - that’s a perfect way to describe it. Thank you for sharing that Beth ❤️ I’ve made a note about making a time lord video, but in case you want to get started on it straight away, you need to know which (whole sign) house you are in. Basically in your first year of life you are in the first house, between 1-2 in second etc. so count around until you find your current year (counting first year as zero because it’s 0-1). Then see what’s the ruling planet of that house and that is your time lord.
Oh my gosh, your tree painting 🩷 I absolutely love it.. I painted something that looks quite similar many years ago when I was a teenager. I think I might still have it in a box of artistic supplies 😊 I would love a video of timelords, I have never quite grasped chart progression and house years and things like that. I know it's a type of astrology that is really beneficial to shadow work so I should make an effort to understand it better.
☺️ thank you! I did actually make the time lord video ruclips.net/video/f0PqMmN_ji8/видео.htmlsi=DlcB7aujbQ__DjuX It’s such a great technique for planning and goal setting 👌🏻
Thank you for sharing this, Jessica. It feels good to know that keeping a personal system that works for us is ok. No matter how popular something is (or not) of how long we‘ve used the same system/planner we can always switch to something that suits is better (at this time). Your videos are always helpful, don’t worry about that. Loved the idea of „Jessica as a potion“ - just awesome! Sending you gentle hugs 💛🙋🏻♀️
☺️ thank you so much Kerstin ❤️ I feel like as I’m getting older if systems don’t work for me I’m less inclined to thing there’s something wrong with me, and look instead for what might not be right (for me) with the system 😆
Your journal is lovely. I’m so glad you made such a connection with a groggier friend. I love to connect with the little wild things. I, too, use a combination of tech and paper journaling. I currently use GoodNotes, but Notion looks nice. I may have to check that out. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Sonje ❤️ Goodnotes is one of the things I want to try if/when I get my iPad. I’ve heard lots of good things about it. Notion is great, but you can’t write/ draw straight into it, which I know is one of the things people say is a drawback compared to Goodnotes. I think the strength of Notion is more how you can organise and pull important things back out of it. So maybe it would still be a useful option for you.
Merry meet, Goddess Jessica. I was exploring videos on planners/organizers and am grateful to have happened across this one. I look forward to watching your new system in action and delving through the archives, as well. Blessed be. 💖💙💛🌠
You are absolutely fascinating to listen to! I've been a witch for a couple of years now, but I'm still young at 19 and working through education, all that jazz. It's so like, connecting(?) hearing you combine the creative and spiritual, and talk about it as you do. I bullet journal, and have my BoS separate, but I love the connection yours feels like to you and I feel it's something I'd love to implement myself. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon your channel, can't wait for future uploads
Hi Millie, thank you for your lovely comment ❤️ I’ve tried a lot of different systems for journaling and recording my path over the years and the only conclusion I’ve come to is there is no perfect system 😝😆 It sounds like your current method is working for you, which is wonderful ❤️
You're journals are beautiful! I also started to fall away from paper journalling. I'm a teacher and I found that I just didn't have the time or energy to make the spreads I wanted to make. Plus, I hated having to carry all my supplies around. I was getting frustrated with myself and my journal. I switched to digital journalling 4 years ago and I haven't felt the desire to go back once. It is extremely easy to make it pretty and aesthetic. You can still layer and be creative. I also LOVE adding QR codes of videos so I can go back and watch them! As much as I love my iPad and apple pencil I did miss having a physical journal. About 2 years into my digital journey I starting following Luxbook planners and Kristin has specific vlogs about how she prints her journals at the end of the year. I really recommend checking out her channel and instagram. I now have a physical copy of my journal. It has my handwriting and beautiful spreads. Plus for days that I don't really feel like writing I can just type up what I want to journal about.
Hi Kayla, Thank you for watching! This seems really stupid to say but I've never actually thought about getting a digital journal printed, but that makes so much sense, especially if it's a journal for a specific project or trip, which you might want to physically flip through. I love it! Thank you so much for that tip. I will check out Luxbook planners. I'm glad you've found a system which works for you
Jessica, I absolutely love all your videos, and especially the journaling ones. I am like you, I love watching videos of personal journals because I always find something that inspires me and that I can introduce into my own spiritual practice. It’s so lovely to see the evolution of your bullet journal - and I’m curious to see how it evolves in the future as well. I’d love to hear your thought process of how you have decided to “split” you different areas of life into different systems, Notion and what not. I discovered Notion two years ago and I’ve been on and off with it for these years, testing what works and what doesn’t work for me. Nowadays, I use Notion for big picture life & business planning and also as a hub for all my other sources and systems (basically, links to other places where my tasks, content and detailed plans are stored). I don’t store much private or sensitive information, or anything that I want to keep long terms in Notion for two reasons - at the time when I was checking it, it was difficult to migrate the content out of Notion if you ever decide to do it, and besides, privacy wise, it was not the best. However, I still love and use it for those things that I don’t need to keep forever. I’ve also tried digital journaling and even digital bullet journaling (my IPad made me do it 😂), but I came back to pen and paper recently and it just feels so much better. Being able to flip those pages, touch everything… Oh, that’s something that I love so much, and I can’t do it with digital journals.
Thank you Irina ❤️ I always love reading your comments, so thought-full. I think they have improved the ability to get things back out of Notion (though it’s not pretty, like CSV files) but the privacy is still an issue. That’s one of the reasons I haven’t fully committed to keeping my home educating records in there. I like how it works with other software to organise things though, like I have it synced with my Readwise and I love that my notes are all imported. I’m kind of going for that whole second brain thing, but only finding my way with it at the moment. I started playing with it in June I think? And it poached a lot of time from my physical notebook, which I didn’t mind at first because I was having fun leaning and setting up my pages. But after a while I missed the physical journaling, exactly like you described. I have a need for that which is deeper than a planning system.
absolutely love this! it seems a lot of people are moving away from bullet journaling this year. it's all about finding what works for you! i know i found your channel through plan with me's, and i'm looking forward to seeing where this takes you
❤️ thank you! Apparently you can use stickers and collage in a digital journal too now. But I’m with you that it just doesn’t feel the same - literally or metaphorically. I don’t want my journaling to be disembodied. It’s one of the tools I use to connect in with that deeper body wisdom. Thank you for watching ❤️
I know exactly what you mean about wanting a physical book to write in Jessica. The tactile experience is part of the process of journaling for me. I keep hearing about notion and at first I wasn't interested but you have definitely changed that! Thank you for letting us see your personal journals. x
Thank you Kelly ❤️ that physical aspect is vital. I’m having actually having some notion regrets this week 😬 I feel like it’s pulled me off track. I’ve been spending more time designing the system rather than using it. It’s beautiful and has so many use cases … but … is it helping me or hindering me? Argh. I don’t even know right now 😝 I’m not saying don’t look into it, but wanted to let you know I’m having some doubts ❤️
@@JessicaandtheMoon thank you for the update re: Notion! I know what you mean about spending time on designing the thing rather than doing the thing. It's why I really simplified my planner layouts as I found I was spending more time making/decorating them, than using them. It was a way for me to procrastinate yet feel productive rather than doing the things I should be doing. Hope you land on something that works for you. :)
I started digital with Goals On Track and have switched to bullet journaling. I love it except there are a set number of items that I use every week or month that I wish I didn’t have to keep recreating. Love your journal aesthetic and magickal vibe. Will go back and watch more. ❤
❤️ I’m glad you enjoyed it! Yes, that’s one of the things which notion etc have over the paper journal - being able to click a button and set up those recurring things 😆 I also love how it’s more easy to find things with search. But it doesn’t outweigh the satisfaction and tactile experience of leafing through a well-used journal.
I love the idea that the book is a reflection of you. To me it seems as if dates, appointments, and the messiness of life becomes just details that you can organize however you want, digitally or otherwise. In contrast your new journal feels like it is filled with things that nurture the soul.
Thank you Candy! Yes 🙌🏼 I suppose because I believe that the mundane and the magical are not truly separate, but make up the warp and weft of our existence, that it was kind of more authentic having them together in my journal. But, like you said, not everything needs to be in this space. And it leaves room for me to lean into the meaningful things ❤️
I love using Notion for brain dumps and to clip resources I find online, but I also need physical notebooks as well. I'm still in the process of finding exactly the best system for myself... I'd love to see more videos from you about your Notion setup! Everything you make is so pretty 😊
Thank you so much ❤️ I don’t feel like I have enough knowledge about Notion to share much that would be useful, but as I continue to play with it I can share that as I find things out ☺️ It seems to be an ever shifting thing - the best planning system 😆 just when we think we’ve figured it out, it stops working.
I love Notion, I use it for a lot of different things- recipes, notes, bookmarks, habit trackers but as far as journaling I always prefer a written one that I can decorate. There is something about pen and paper.
I just found your channel and I love what you're saying. I have been trying to start Journaling again. Because of my arthritis in my hand ( left handed and there is the arthritis because of a car wreck) I can't write as much as I used to and I love to write - the feel of a pen and my cursive is so calming. Sorry I'm rambling ; but I have discovered epherma Journaling or creative Journaling. I would love to learn bullet Journaling as well. Thank you for such a nice videos!!
Thank you Amy, welcome! I am so sorry to hear about your accident and how it has affected your hands. That is hard. I'm glad you have found ephemera journaling. I agree it is so so soothing and calming. Blessings to you
Your journals look so nice! I’ve been trying to journal for like two years, but I never found something that sticks. I think I get too caught up in what people put into their journals and then I realise that my life is quite boring. I don’t really need to do lists or appointments because I just keep track of them using a note on my phone. The thing I kept going the longest was more of a diary. I plan on exploring a mixture of diary and a planner. Also I love the specific journals you used. They really fit your overall vibe.
Thank you July, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m sure your life isn’t boring, I think it can feel like that when comparing to other people. I hope you find a journal/ diary groove which works for you and supports your growth ❤️
Sorry, that was cryptic, i was switching from the laptop to the telly. What i mean is, I really enjoyed watching this and learning from you, Jessica. Thank you for sharing. Your journal practice is fascinating. xo
I loved this video! So calming and lovely. I liked seeing what you’re doing, it’s making me think about what I want to use my journals for in the new year. Thank you for sharing :)
Yep I Loved this. I think a thorough check in/overhaul is one of my favourite things / most important tools generally (yet I resist it often) and I think it can be harder than it sounds (letting go of things we have found to be ‘our way’) but also so much more powerful than it sounds too…I found this v exciting and loved how you showed how you intricately worked out what you needed and showed how you transitioned into the new way, how you felt your way through, as that’s often a difficult process to explain or learn/do and doesn’t always get shown, but it is so important/integral as that’s how to find your way! I’ve defo found that my TN setup has kept shifting quite a bit which always shows/tells me a lot. I haven’t switched to anything digital so I found that v cool to see, but I guess I do find that my iPhone notes and camera roll do informally (lol) feel important to me. ♥️✨🌙
❤️ thank you I think there’s a lot of “informal” journaling that’s going on now. Like on social media, but also more private things like camera rolls and phone notes. I wonder what effect that less conscious journaling has compared to mindful journaling? Maybe it doesn’t matter.
@@JessicaandtheMoon Yea totally- that’s interesting! I’m often interested in (in mine personally) whether there’s accidentally a sort of ‘narrative voice’ or a self consciousness. And the balance between wanting to be perfectionisty and love it but also wanting to use it for the messiness of trying things or working through things! I’ve come to love the rawness of iPhone notes partly because it’s always when I’m in a rush and I think they feel less conscious, and less self conscious! But at the same time they are also only snippets rather than deep dives or mindful chosen exploration, so it feels like they have different roles I guess, which is why it’s so cool to keep working all those details out and find what works 😍
Ooo, exciting change! This was so much fun to watch and see the transition 😍 I use multiple journals/planners/systems for all this stuff too and it just seems to work the best for me. I don't ever wanna feel pressured to fill in any books just for the sake of filling them it, they're supposed to help me with all that I do 😄
I think a hybrid approach works for me. Paper journal to be able to disconnect but use a digital product like notion and use a number table entry to mark what page a task or event is written in your journal and just do weekly "syncs"
Absolutely loved this video. Thank you so much for sharing your personal journal. I too love watching these sorts of videos but more for inspiration now, rather than trying to replicate what I see, which I know now is not helpful. I loved what you said about you feeling that your journal “holds you”. I hope you don’t mind but I’m going to pinch that quote as it’s exactly what I feel about my journals!! ❤ Yes, please can you do a video on weekly check ins as although I keep journals, I’m rubbish at going back and reflecting, which I’ve come to realise some what defeats the object of keeping one! So any help would be great.
Jessica your journal is beautiful! Mine is not I put watercolor in a chaos like fashion then I put washi stickers haphazard but it makes me smile. I put everything in my journal spirit guides exercise, my dreams and the times I want to scream. It is my friend that I can tell anything to I have it in a Maverick leather folio. I so agree I can not do a digital journal I love using my sensi pen and how fat it gets with all I add to it. During Yule/Christmas I put pictures of my tree in it (which gives me joy). Love and light to you, your family and fur babies!
Hi Marsha ❤️ your journal sounds lovely! I really liked how you described it as a friend, that’s exactly the kind of support I want from my journal. To be held ☺️ Lots of love and blessings to you and yours ❤️
firstly i want to say i’m glad i came across your channel and your journals are all really beautiful. i’ve been using a combination of notion and journaling for the past year and i’m still figuring out what to put where, but recently i decided to make my journal more of a personal/ spiritual development space. somewhere to flip through and check in on my progress and the thoughts i had/ things that happened that year. i would love to see how you organized what goes where in your notion/ journal so far!! i’m also interested in seeing more astrology spreads! thank you for inviting us into your personal space and showing us your beautiful creative spirit! 💜
Hi Jazmyn, welcome 🙏🏻 Thank you for your lovely comment. I haven’t found that sweet spot yet between paper and digital planning, but I will keep sharing here my adventures trying to find it 😆❤️ It sounds like you have a system which is supporting you, which is so lovely to hear. I’ve definitely found that moving some things into digital frees up space for more expansive and meaningful paper journaling. Thank you for watching and sharing your experiences ❤️
I do both. I use notion as well as another app called obsidian to hold my digital notes. I find it is better to really remember and build on my thoughts. But when I’m thinking or processing I often like to write on paper so I will read it out loud after and transcribe it to an app.
I had a look at obsidian too, but I already felt I’d bitten off a hefty chunk with notion 😆 interesting you combine both. A lot of the things I’ve seen people are saying things like obsidian v notion. Maybe I will take another look. Thank you 🙏🏻 And yes, I’m with you on the writing it out helps with thinking.
@@JessicaandtheMoon makes sense--both take a little time to learn and it takes time to see how things fit into your life. I find Obsidian is great if I have a large quantity of documents I want to revisit, draw learnings from, or make connections between. Notion I like best for the templates, the look of it, and creating a place to put a central hub I will revisit for a project. But I definitely LOVE the huge ahas that are coming from Obsidian since it has better search features and doesn't rely on hierarchy as much for document organization, so it's easier for me to stuff it with everything I think and feel. I end up surprising myself with what I end up creating or discovering between my diffferent notes in Obsidian. I definitely am a fan of both, so important insights end up getting copied twice in both places, and that works for me!
This really resonated with me because I have been doing something similar for a while. I could never get into bullet journaling and I think the reason was that I needed that separation between mundane and magical, like you said. I use Google calendar for all my mundane work stuff, and I used to use Teux Deux for my to-do lists (but i'm now adding all of that into google calendar due to cost). I could use Google Keep too but I try and keep that uncluttered, especially separating work from personal stuff. I also started using Notion this year and love it! Next year, I think i'm going to combine my weekly gratitude journalling prompts with my monthly card readings so that I actually see them and reflect on them more. Currently, I pull my monthly cards and then forget what they even said, but without fail, I always do my weekly gratitude journalling.
It sounds like you’ve got the cornerstones of your practice in place. I think that’s so helpful, because then it’s just tweaking. Like you said, you know you want to see your cards more, so you can make the changes for that. Thanks for watching and commenting ❤️
I'd like to hear more about the digital stuff you use! I'm currently in between keeping a grimoire in notion vs my old google doc vs my bujo vs my ring binder grimoire. just trying things out to see which one will stick.
I'm trying out obsidian and notion at the moment. And I've just got an ipad so I'm also thinking of experimenting with a goodnotes grimoire. I love what you said about trying things out and seeing what sticks, that definitely resonates :D I'll make an update video in the new year about the digital stuff once I feel like I've got a good handle on it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
I’m so glad that you feel inspired and comfy enough to share the changes you’ve been making to your journaling… this was such a wonderfully helpful video! Thank you Jessica 💕📖💕
I use Notion for things I need to reference for the whole year, and my planner for on the go stuff that'll last 3 months. 3 months is the average that my bujo lasts. I'm a teacher, so I really like that I can walk into a classroom and all I'll need to bring is one notebook and perhaps some handouts.
Yes, that’s what irritates me with notion, that I need my laptop or phone available to use it. Having a book just feels more wholesome. But then there are drawbacks with that. One, like you said, being books get filled pretty quickly. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment ❤️
I think its absolutely beautiful. I also love putting pen to paper I have recently started decluttering and found journals from years past and seeing how I have grown spirituality. And yes would love a video on how to find your houses and the birthday I seem stuck on that and think it would help me find balance as always it was another beautiful video
Thank you so much ❤️ I will get onto the time lord video asap. It’s simple but really helpful I find. I love that you’ve been connecting with your old journals. It’s so interesting doing that. I don’t know if you saw that video, but I actually burned 30 years worth of my old journals this year 😱 it was so cathartic and powerful, but I do sometimes feel a little pang of loss that I can’t look back through them. Blessings to you ❤️
Well if it helps I only kept the good memories and those items that will help with genealogy research. I have felt a draw to magic my entire life I have stones and tarot cards and love astrology just connecting it all is where I get lost lol I may be just over 45 but still a baby lol
Yes, that does feel very satisfying. It’s weird for me now that it’s not like that. But some aspects - mainly the shared digital family calendar - just works better not in the book 🤪
This is one of the reasons I think it's great that people who do paper planning should watch videos of other styles. For me digital planning doesn't work. So I have a very inexpensive dot grid planner that I use when I hit a planning slump. I'll also switch to the original Bullet Journal planning system. Just food for thought : D
I feel like you would do well with a junk journal. Your creativity would flourish even more. I feel like we're always going through different processes to find that works and what doesn't for us. I just started a 6 ring "bullet journal" which is really a planner, personal journal, art journal and scrapbooking space. It's giving me the freedom to use different types of paper or be as chunky as I please. Never stop growing or learning.
❤️ thank you!! I do like to watch junk journal videos and have dabbled in the past and LOVED it, but somehow haven’t continued 🤷♀️ I love what you said about our systems changing and evolving. That’s so true. And it shouldn’t be seen as a problem, but a positive and healthy thing. Your binder sounds so good ❤️
This video just popped up on my feed and I am so glad it did. I had a journaling system that I Ioved, then it just stopped working for me and I've been a little lost ever since. Thankyou for sharing your experience, it has inspired me to try something new. Can I ask where you got your journals from? They are beautiful. Thanks again - new and grateful subscriber here 💕
Hi Sam, welcome ❤️ I’m so glad my video was helpful for you. It’s such a strange and unsettling feeling when our systems stop working for us. I’m glad you’re going to try something new. The journals I’m using this year are from notebook therapy. They are Tsuki B5 size, with velvet covers.
Awe, you're a Libra rising as well 🩷 I'm a 6th Pisces sun which is where my Venus is, and 5th house Pisces holds my North Node as well as Mercury. But I love how beautiful your journal is. I have had a bit of an opposite transition in my journaling. I've used spiral notebooks and I started with putting everything including chores and shopping lists into it, but I have began artistic self exploration books that make me want to separate my spiritual journey from my mundane daily writing down. I did the Elizabeth Moore "Create This Book" in 2023 and it really felt special to decorate it artistically and make the book into an extension of self. I'd like to take that practice into my journalling, and begin moon journaling again as I did for years but fell off the habit. I am using the 2024 Witches' Companion by Lewellyn to sort of help guide me back into practice and give me clear tasks to work on over the year as I settle back into myself. Thank you for sharing such a personal piece of yourself. It is truly inspiring.
Thank you for your lovely comment ❤️ It sounds like you are finding the style of journaling which works for you and supports you to express yourself and learn more about yourself, which is what it’s all about really. Your create this book journal sounds magical! 🌟 The moon is on your north node currently so you should get a nice energy boost today/ tomorrow.
I love this so much ❤️ super inspiring, love ur style & ur journals purpose... I used digital, it was minimalist in my home, and u can travel with it easily. And it fit everything I needed. But i couldn’t really see everything together as a group of files, whereas in a binder or book, u can really see it all together in the physical, n it helps me feel more clarity. Plus there’s something lovely about the paper, leathers, pens, artwork etc. I am still a little bit scattered but I’m honing in my system atm n it’s feeling nicer n nicer :) I have a grimoire for deep important experiences but I think in 2023 I’ll start recording all the little things too, the daily tarot, signs etc 🥰
Thank you Claire 🙏🏻 I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. There are so many benefits to digital, it’s true, but like you said it does feel different from having a physical journal. The tactile side is important. I love the sound of your plan for 2023 ❤️
I started with digital journalling, but it never worked. Since I started a physical bullet journal, it changed me in so much positive ways, and some things would never have changed if done digitally. For example, making sure my perfectionism is not getting in the way of life, which it did, but due to my bujo, I learned nothing have to be perfect, just good enough, and even though it did hurt when I made mistakes in it, by just leaving them, I get reminded by this, and I got better in life. This aspect would never have been improved if digitally worked for me. Also, I found my way of bullet journalling, and even though I add some art on the "monthly" (or 3-weekly for me), I do not for the rest, and use it more for the daily journalling like in the original idea, and that works so well! Things like grocery shopping lists and meetings/events I need to share with my husband are also scheduled in my digital calendar though, so a mix of physical and digital where it makes sense is indeed a good way of doing it. Just see what works for you. As for trackers, I only have 1, sometimes 2 pages for trackers in the long run, like my weight, my overtime at work, etc... the really important things. All other trackers are just not that important for me, and even though I did them in the beginning, the value is just not big enough for the time spending on them.
Thank you for this comment ❤️ I agree so much with what you said about the necessary imperfection of keeping an analog journal is a huge part of the learning and growth. It’s far easier to achieve the illusion of perfection in a digital format, but where’s the learning in that?
I am intrigued by your mention of three week planning instead of monthly. Could you please explain where that comes from and what that makes possible for you? I am so interested!
@@noblethoughts4500 Hi, it's actually a very practical reason, one that could help lots of people starting with bullet journalling, as I believe that a major reason why people can't keep doing it is the timing of all things. Let me explain. When I wanted to start with bullet journalling, I watch a lot of RUclips videos and other content online to find out how it works and how I could do it, but there were several things that stood out to me as being not practical, in that I don't have time during the week to prepare something, neither will I know up front where I'll end to prepare up-front. I mostly do the daily journalling like the original method suggests, and that's the main thing I do, it works pretty well and is very handy, but that means you can't prepare nothing in advance, as some weeks I have only 1 sheet filled, some 3 sheets, depending on if I do long-form journalling in it too. That's why I had to find a solution to prepare monthly sheets in the weekend, when I have time to do that. Then another problem came up. Each month has different days, and thus it doesn't always fit nice in an A5 notebook. I write somewhat bigger than most people, and thus I need quiet some space, so most months will not fit with a todo list on a single sheet. These 2 things combined made me think I should better do something in weeks, and I could put 4 weeks on a single page, so that's already better, I can plan in the weekend on a regular basis, so no stress on planning ahead or not having time to plan, and I can always use the same layout, so it's quick. But then, when you come to the end of the period, it's hard to see at a glance what's coming up, and then you could forget to prepare for those things, you could forget them. And thus I started with a 3 week period, and a week on the same page as a view on what's coming up, so I can plan ahead if needed. I never tried anything else really, I though this out for some months before actually starting to bullet journal :D. Yes, I'm a thinker. For the layout, I did try out some layouts to see what fits best, and I came to one that I'm now using for more than a year, and it's amazing, regular planning, easy layout, and when I feel extra artsy, I do some bigger design, and sometimes it's just some washi tape and highlighters. It's not really necessary, but I like some colour and drawings on it. If you're curious on how it looks like, you can find me on Instagram: instagram.com/dg.arty/ . I use week numbers to keep track of where we are, as we also use them at work, I'm very used to them. So I don't have the need to have full months on a single period. Also, the week to plan ahead is very practical for work too, because I have to ask holidays and leaves in advance, and thus that 4th week is already planned on those to be sure I get them. This is really working for me. I hope my long explanation answers your questions. I really love my bullet journal and how it helps me, so I do like to talk about it :)
Cheers to a self love apothecary...adore that! I started a disciplined planner practice this year then gave up...time to give it another go! Thanks for sharing your beautiful pages Jessica. I think I prefer this more free form approach! Lovely and inspiring. 😺✨ *Affirmations are powerful magic!
The reMarkable tablet feels like writing on paper. You can choose your tool with which to write and it is digital without any distraction. It is pricey and it's the tablet I use for all of my notes.
Thank you! I’ve never heard of that before but just spent some time looking and it does look very cool. I do think I might be better off with an iPad though as I do like drawing and digital art, which it looks like isn’t a thing on the remarkable. It looks amazing for note taking though 🤩
Thank you so much Karen. I’m currently using the notebook therapy B5 journals. They lay completely flat ❤️ I’ve got lots of plan with me videos on my channel sharing how I actually make the spreads etc if you’re interested. Happy journaling!
Hi there, i stumbled across this video and your journals and Notion layouts are really beautiful. I love the dedication to making things pretty. Its honestly my lifes mission. Just a suggestion: try having a look at Tiago Forte's book- Building a second brain. Before you get too stuck into organising too much. I use it and my bullet journal together. Revolutionised my thinking, that and Tiny Habits from BJ Fogg (would recommend bothe those books to anyone on self-improvement missions!)
Thank you ☺️ I loved how you described your life mission. I feel the same. Beauty is a core value for me and it hurts me that it’s understood in such a superficial way now.
Thanks for sharing your system. I love seeing how others journal and what they are using for it. I haven't entered the realm of digital journaling yet so I keep separate dot grid notebooks for things. 🙂
Thank you Carrie ❤️ It’s the age old dilemma of separate planners for all the things, or one for everything. It sounds like you’ve found what works for you.
I did try digital journaling last year! It held for me for a little less than a year. At the time, it made sense to digital journal because I was already using my iPad so much for note taking and I was most concerned with portability. There are several things which I did like about the digital journaling. - It’s much cheaper if you are artistic. - It’s much easier to add photos to your journaling. - It easy to share the journal as well because it’s already in a digital format! And it will be in super high quality! - It’s also very portable. You only need to take your iPad and your Apple pencil around. Eventually, I did stop when I began to settle down and I didn’t need to travel as often. I feel like there is less satisfaction with digital journaling overall. Because your journal is not physically in your hands, you don’t get to turn the pages of your journal like a manifestation of turning through your life. You swipe through your journal instead and I felt less of a connection to my journal in that way.
Thank you so much for this thorough comment Nicole 🙏🏻 There are so many great things about digital journaling, but it seems like, despite this, that lack of the tactile quality makes it less satisfying as a long term option. I don’t have my iPad yet (I’m still thinking about it/ working out which one to get that is the best option and not crazy expensive) but I am going to experiment with keeping some aspects in a digital format, even though I kind of know I already agree with what you said 😆❤️
@@JessicaandtheMoon While I’m mostly in my Hobonichi right now, I am thinking about digital journaling things like… big trips or family scrapbooks! Then it could be cute to print them and give them as gifts to friends and family
@@sn710e I love the idea of scrapbooks/ travel logs. So much more convenient than taking supplies to do it while travelling (which I have done many times 😆) and the photos and tickets etc can just go straight in. I love it!
I have so many journals, one for health and meditation, one for reading, one for everyday plannibg, one for the garden, two for tarot studies( different goals) and one for the house. If i were to keep it all together I would go insane.
I love this! Do you find you write in them all regularly? I’ve used multiple books in the past but then sometimes some haven’t been much used, which I don’t like.
I think it's important to know what's good for analog and what;s good for digital and your purpose for each. I love how I use my BuJo and still use plenty of digital recording. I see people who track their periods in a BuJo for example and I know that would never work for me. And I have weeks or sometimes months where the time it takes to set up my journal isn't working and I'm still fine with my digital tools.
This is such a good point Lauren, thank you ❤️ I have definitely found that using a digital calendar released so much pressure to have my journal set up and ready at all times, which allows more room and time for play.
Hello Jessica! I just found your channel for the first time by searching for other types of "Bujo" but not strictly Bujo videos if that makes sense. Thank you so much for sharing your journey! I've been journaling on and off since I was 9 yrs old. Some years have been droughts moreso than others. I found the Bujo community about a year and a half ago and always knew I wanted to take the aesthetic elements of these types of bujos I see online, but that the full Monty of Bujo wasn't for me. I started out with Ryder Carol's method, but tracking all of my mundane tasks on paper and having to transfer takes over and over drives me nuts, LOL. ☺️ Since them, I've moved to a digital system as well for the mundane stuff, including daily and weekly trackers. But certain elements I have to keep in a book (or several!) 📚 I like having a monthly cover page and calendar and then want to keep the rest more free flowing for thoughts, memories, art, reading journal type book spreads, and the like. I continue to hone it all as I find what's working and not working for me as well! I love that you use your journal for your spiritual work. I'm a student of green witchery and have thoughts about using journals for a more artistic rendition of a materia medica, plant journal of my own plants with phases of the moon, and the like. I enjoyed this video very much and will checking out more of your videos❣️
Thank you for this lovely comment Wendy. Welcome 🙏🏻 It sounds like we are in similar places with our journaling right now. For the last few years I’ve been trying to work with everything in one journal (one book to rule them all) but now it seems like my system exploded and I’m piecing it back together again. Like you said, it’s trying things and seeing what works (and what doesn’t) ❤️ How many separate books do you have right now? It seems like I’m heading in that direction but I also don’t want to overcomplicate things and have too many journals 🤪
I love your bujo videos so much, and it was so fascinating to get a look at your process. I'd love to hear more about the timelords and would love to have a video about it. Love all your content!
im migrating to a two planner system with appointments in my phone. starting school with a happy planner dashboard layout, work/life in a bujo and then i have countless sketchbooks and writing journals. i always change it up its ok :)
It’s been so lovely hearing about other people’s systems in the comments of this video. It does help knowing that other people have far more complex systems than mine - but they work. And that’s what’s important. Thank you for sharing ❤️
I'm so thrilled to have stumbled across your channel! I've been feeling somewhat lonely in my journey merely because I couldn't find anyone else "my age" who enjoyed bullet journaling, astrology and moon cycles. It looks like we're only a year or two apart! 🥰 My journaling has also changed a lot over the past year, so this video really resonates with me. But I've been binging allllll your videos and I truly do feel like a kindred! Thank you for sharing yourself with others! 🧡
☺️ thank you. Welcome ❤️ I’m so glad that my videos felt that way for you. I was so happy to find that there are lots of people our age who are into these things, so I know how you feel 🌟
Wow, your bullet journal is gorgeous 😍 I use the 52 lists planner, which is set up as a bullet journal. Thank you for mentioning notion. I downloaded it for mobile since I'm currently living off grid.
Thank you Eva ❤️ I hope you enjoy using Notion. It’s not as easy on mobile because it’s tricky to set up the databases, but still lots of potential to play with 🔥
I tried bullet journaling several times in the past, and only now I know why I kept failing. I aimed to be like other people (aesthetics, complicated designs, etc.), and by doing so, I lost the objectives of the journal itself. Now I see bullet journaling from the perspective of its practicality rather than only its aesthetic appeal. I mean, as far as I know, it's invented to adjust with what you need in a journal without following a conventional planner template. So, I believe it doesn't have to be super cute or beautiful or artsy. The most important thing is how it can be used everyday. I've tried bullet journaling again, but this time without using other people as standard. I simply use it to track my mood, habit, and project progress, as well as to record daily gratitude. Other things, like planning, I do on my phone on laptop. Gotta agree that Notion is an amazing tool for that. I love Notion.
Yes, I think the heart of the bullet journaling method, as Ryder Carroll explains it, is really practical and valuable. And I’m glad that you’re finding it works for you (and not getting dragged into how other people are doing it). I may come back to using the core method in the future, but for me it was too active - maybe that’s not the right word - it was like I chose what I wanted to focus on and kind of forced it through. Which is great in some ways, you get stuff done, but actually made me feel kind of one-sided. I needed to find a way of planning that was more receptive and less practical 😆 which seems weird, but just what I need at the moment. Thank you for watching and I hope you continue to enjoy using your bujo in the way that works for you ❤️
Just a suggestion, we shouldn't really call.our journals "bullet" journals if we barely use a single actual bullet journal rule or method. BuJo is a very specific kind of journaling. And when people search for "bullet journal" techniques and vids, it's difficult to find anything mixed in with the far more prevalent Art journals, aesthetic journals, straight up diaries, Book of Shadows, Grimoires, Tarot journals, heavily modified planners, etc.
I’m sorry this wasn’t what you were looking for Jenna. I was originally using the original Ryder Carroll bujo method but it did get more personalised along the way with decorative elements and some deviations from the system. That’s why I made this video, because I feel that I’ve stepped so far away from that bullet journal concept that I no longer call what I’m doing bullet journaling. Although, there are some things which are so helpful in that system which I have retained, like the index and numbering the pages, and the mindful aspect of tracking goals and projects, copying them over.
My system just isn’t working either…I have been thinking of switching to notion as well for all the daily todos and such…then leave my journal for the more growth and creative aspects of life…thank you for sharing all the things ❤ would you be able to share the grimore course?
❤️ I’m finding the combination of Notion and iCal works well for the mundane stuff (as long as I trust the calendar not to eat stuff 😆). I forgot to link the course sorry. It’s her “rock your grimoire” course, but I think it’s closed now. I’ll check and post the link now.
I can’t find anything on her website about it, you could try messaging her on social media to see if you can still jump on. I heard about it through her mailing list, she shares lots of good stuff there. You can sign up here www.mollyrobertsmagick.com/
I used to journal, including all my tarot readings and astrology, much like you do. Why I stopped is I gave my life to Jesus Christ. He opened my eyes to why my life wasn't working for me. He literally set me free from a bad man who oppressed me for 16 years, gave me an amazing husband, gave me beautiful land on the mountain overlooking the sea, and more. Every day I am blown away by his blessings. I had no idea how the enemy comes to destroy us, who Jesus is, or how much love he has for us. I was surprised when I started reading the Bible how relevant and profound it still is today. I pray you find Jesus too. He is the answer to every problem, I promise you. God bless you sister! 🙏💞
I’m glad that you are in a good place now with people who love you ❤️ I don’t normally reply to the evangelical Christian comments I get on my videos because they’re usually pretty hate fuelled, but I made an exception because your comment was actually really sweet. Thank you. I do have Jesus in my life, and his mother Mary too. And they are both happy for me to communicate with spirit and nature using cards and astrology. (And I know that dogma priests will say that means it’s not Jesus I’m in contact with, which is a convenient circular argument 😆). I don’t subscribe to the dogma of patriarchal religion. But I appreciate your prayers. And there is a lot of good magic in the bible. Blessings to you on your path ❤️
thank you for this lovely video. also, i'm smiling that you are setting up and organizing a more spiritual planner in your mercury 9th house profection year :)
Right?!? It’s so on point! I love looking back at past profection years and seeing how they match up with what went on. Before I even knew protections were a thing 😆
This may be a dumb question but how do you know when the moon is in which house in your chart? Does it go by what sign rules that house or by what sign you have in that house? Or neither??
The moon goes through all 12 houses every cycle, so it spends about 2 1/2 days in each sign. When it's full in the sun, it's new in the moon, because the full and new moons are oppositions in aspect. For example, my birthday is January 19, and my sun is in Capricorn. My moon is in Virgo, because its in direct opposition to the sun when it's full. That's the reason we can see it! The details of where everything is at any time requires you to have a copy of your chart. There are places online that will make one for you for free. That will tell you where everything is in your chart. My moon is in Virgo in the 7th house. That's because that was it's exact location at the minute of my birth. My chart tells me where everything is.
Not a dumb question Rachel. You match the current (transiting) position of the moon with the degree in your chart and see which house that falls in. So, say the moon is at 15 Taurus and 15 Taurus falls in your 9th house then the moon is currently in YOUR 9th house. When you’re using whole sign houses it’s simple because if the moon is transiting virgo and you know that’s your 1st house, then the moon is in YOUR first house. Does that make sense?
@@JessicaandtheMoon Yes! Thank you that's a perfect explanation. Of course I use Placidus just to make things a little harder but I assume the principle is the same?
@@Rachel-sv9pq yes, it’s the same, you just need to pay more attention to the actual degrees of the house cusps so you know when the moon is crossing into the next house.
@@Talesofanordinarywitch I don’t think it’s available now (it started November 1st) but if you join her mailing list www.mollyrobertsmagick.com/ you’ll be notified when she does the next one ❤️
How the planets synchronise us all.... When I came back to the land of the living in June this year bullet journalling didn't work for me any longer. I had house life admin in one journal and my spiritual shizzle in another. I am still not 100% in my recovery and to be honest it has to be a paradigm shift going forward with acknowledgment and acceptance a big part of that. So the time I used to afford to decorating my BuJo is just not there anymore. Nope. To be honest the only thing that has really transferred over has been the dot page journals, I cannot imagine going back to lined paper! Now I share a Google calendar with family, I am the central hub for my tiny little unit. I definitely struggle with planning and general Executive Function, my ability to mask has literally fallen away. So all appointments and engagements are on a shared digital calendar, I have been really annoying by repeating to everyone how important it was to refer to the calendar before booking in anything. Then last week I just booked Wakanda Forever 4DX for us all without consulting said calendar. A work in progress. For me physically writing something actually helps my processing, whereas touch typing does not. I am less likely to forget stuff if I write symbols. I think for me this has something to do with how I process information and my neuro diversity. Thank you for sharing your really well organised self. Blessings on the frog work you are doing. Thank you for acting on your guidance for community, it has really taken off!! lol.
Thank you Jo 🙏🏻 your blessings are gratefully received. I’m glad for your recovery and wish for it to continue. I feel the same about the physical act of writing, typing is not the same, for processing - but I do wonder if writing into a digital format, like an iPad, might work for that. I won’t know until I try o guess. Your calendar issues are highly relatable 😆
There are certainly commonplace book elements, though there are other things which don’t really fit that description… hmmm 🤔 thank you! Something to think about.
What is the grimoire prompt email that you mentioned? I would like to learn more about that.

I’m so happy reading this Kate ❤️
You said it so well - experimenting and finding what works is the point of it.
Thank you Dawn Michelle ❤️
I was excited when I saw you’ve changed up your second channel to be specifically journal related 🔥❤️
I think you can personalize how you use your bullet journal. It can be anything... So actually you didn't quit but you found another way to use it imo :) But I like the message that if it doesn't work for you, you shouldn't force yourself to keep doing it. Bujo should be useful, not an obligation
Thank you Tessa 🙏🏻
I think I’ve strayed a bit too far out of the bujo territory to still call it a bullet journal now, but I totally agree that there is a lot of flexibility in bullet journaling ❤️
You’re so right your most personal journal experiences are the most captivating to watch! It’s like sharing something sacred and translating your experiences to another. we all hold it dearly. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful!!
Thank you so much Sirena 💗
This is gorgeous 💗
I have never been able to bullet journal becos it's so compartmentalized, and so much of my life isn't separate from other things so I really struggle to put things into boxes where there's no flow.
I do enjoy habit tracking though, but again, it needs to flow.
I love the way your journal feels almost grimoire like, or like a book of mirrors. This is so very inspiring
🙏🏻 thank you
I definitely see my journal as being a grimoire, though I also have plans to make a more witchy heirloom grimoire in an enormous book ☺️
Finding our own flow is so important, like you said.
😆 it’s the using it part that’s so hard.
I love that idea of a fandom journal ❤️
But then I find it doesn’t work and I used to think it was something wrong with me, but I’m coming around to the idea that it’s the system not me - and it sounds like you’re in that place too ❤️
I think figuring out what works for us, as individual creative people, is part of the learning of journaling.
❤️ thank you Liz
I think sometimes the system needs to become destabilised to find a better option (and Uranus is in Taurus 😉) but feeling scattered is unsettling.
Slap down ephemera with no remorse! That’s when you know you’ve got it right 🙌🏼❤️
@@JessicaandtheMoon That's the conclusion I've come to. 🙂
I hope you find a balance which works for you.
this is such a cool and unique way to bullet journal! i might take some inspiration into 2023
I’m so glad you found it helpful DJ. Happy (almost) new year ❤️
Thank you for sharing. Your journals are beautiful. If they are holding you, then you must be a beautiful person. I love that you shared it. I often struggle to figure out what I want in mine and I found your journal so inspiring. Thanks again.
Thank you so much Amy ☺️ I wish you lots of journaling creativity and exploration ❤️
You’re right, it’s hard to find people who use digital and analogue, so it’s great that you’re going to do that 🙏🏻
Oh my God, these journals are sooooo beautiful!!!
☺️ thank you
I love this video.
Thank you for sharing that Beth ❤️
I’ve made a note about making a time lord video, but in case you want to get started on it straight away, you need to know which (whole sign) house you are in.
I think I might still have it in a box of artistic supplies 😊
I would love a video of timelords, I have never quite grasped chart progression and house years and things like that. I know it's a type of astrology that is really beneficial to shadow work so I should make an effort to understand it better.
☺️ thank you!
I did actually make the time lord video ruclips.net/video/f0PqMmN_ji8/видео.htmlsi=DlcB7aujbQ__DjuX
It’s such a great technique for planning and goal setting 👌🏻
Thank you for sharing this, Jessica. It feels good to know that keeping a personal system that works for us is ok. No matter how popular something is (or not) of how long we‘ve used the same system/planner we can always switch to something that suits is better (at this time). Your videos are always helpful, don’t worry about that. Loved the idea of „Jessica as a potion“ - just awesome! Sending you gentle hugs 💛🙋🏻♀️
☺️ thank you so much Kerstin ❤️
I feel like as I’m getting older if systems don’t work for me I’m less inclined to thing there’s something wrong with me, and look instead for what might not be right (for me) with the system 😆
Your journal is lovely. I’m so glad you made such a connection with a groggier friend. I love to connect with the little wild things. I, too, use a combination of tech and paper journaling. I currently use GoodNotes, but Notion looks nice. I may have to check that out. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Sonje ❤️
Goodnotes is one of the things I want to try if/when I get my iPad.
Blessed be. 💖💙💛🌠
Merry Meet Belinda! So lovely to have you here. I hope you enjoy what you find. My maiden name is Hughes :)
i love this video so much, thanks for making it! picked up some really good and creative ideas and i love your vibes!
☺️ thank you so much!
Hi Millie, thank you for your lovely comment ❤️
I’ve tried a lot of different systems for journaling and recording my path over the years and the only conclusion I’ve come to is there is no perfect system 😝😆
It sounds like your current method is working for you, which is wonderful ❤️
Thank you for watching ❤️
that is EXACTLY how it feels for me too!
Yes 🙌🏼
I suppose because I believe that the mundane and the magical are not truly separate, but make up the warp and weft of our existence, that it was kind of more authentic having them together in my journal.
Thank you so much ❤️
I don’t feel like I have enough knowledge about Notion to share much that would be useful, but as I continue to play with it I can share that as I find things out ☺️
It seems to be an ever shifting thing - the best planning system 😆 just when we think we’ve figured it out, it stops working.
Yes please!
I love Notion, I use it for a lot of different things- recipes, notes, bookmarks, habit trackers but as far as journaling I always prefer a written one that I can decorate. There is something about pen and paper.
Yes, same. That tactile connection helps with the flow of my thoughts, and also with feeling present and grounded too I think.
Blessings to you
Ooh, a few of my clients have mentioned and recommended Notion. I will check it out. So glad you found something that works for you darling.
Thank you Kelly-Ann 🙏🏻
It’s definitely not a sub for paper planning, but lots of cool features.
I loved your journal video btw ❤️
Your journal practice is fascinating. xo
😆 thank you Jen ❤️
I hope things are good with you?
I loved this video! So calming and lovely. I liked seeing what you’re doing, it’s making me think about what I want to use my journals for in the new year. Thank you for sharing :)
Thank you so much Luna ❤️
❤️ thank you
I think there’s a lot of “informal” journaling that’s going on now.
I don't ever wanna feel pressured to fill in any books just for the sake of filling them it, they're supposed to help me with all that I do 😄
❤️ thank you J
Yes! Exactly that - they’re supposed to support us in our growth, not be another thing to check off the to do list 👌🏻
I think a hybrid approach works for me. Paper journal to be able to disconnect but use a digital product like notion and use a number table entry to mark what page a task or event is written in your journal and just do weekly "syncs"
Oh wow, this sounds intriguing. So you kind of map/ sync your paper and digital to each other?
These are beautiful! I am also very interested in this yearly planetary time lord business. Would love to hear more!
Thank you Nikki ❤️
I’m going to make that time lord video.
Thank you Tanya ☺️
I’m still working out my check in process - it’s hard to get a handle on it isn’t it 😆 but this year I will do it!
To be held ☺️
Lots of love and blessings to you and yours ❤️
firstly i want to say i’m glad i came across your channel and your journals are all really beautiful. i’ve been using a combination of notion and journaling for the past year and i’m still figuring out what to put where, but recently i decided to make my journal more of a personal/ spiritual development space. somewhere to flip through and check in on my progress and the thoughts i had/ things that happened that year. i would love to see how you organized what goes where in your notion/ journal so far!! i’m also interested in seeing more astrology spreads! thank you for inviting us into your personal space and showing us your beautiful creative spirit! 💜
Hi Jazmyn, welcome 🙏🏻
Thank you for your lovely comment.
I haven’t found that sweet spot yet between paper and digital planning, but I will keep sharing here my adventures trying to find it 😆❤️
It sounds like you have a system which is supporting you, which is so lovely to hear.
Thank you 🙏🏻
And yes, I’m with you on the writing it out helps with thinking.

@@sofiawren thank you! That’s really helpful. I will check out the guide ❤️
i'd love it if you went into how you organized and created your notion in a video! this was so eye-opening, thank you
Thank you Sophie ❤️ I’ve made some changes to it since this video. I’ll make an update going into more detail soon. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I love what you said about trying things out and seeing what sticks, that definitely resonates :D
I'll make an update video in the new year about the digital stuff once I feel like I've got a good handle on it.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
I’m so glad that you feel inspired and comfy enough to share the changes you’ve been making to your journaling… this was such a wonderfully helpful video! Thank you Jessica 💕📖💕
Thank you 🙏🏻 I kind of started then thought maybe this isn’t about anything really 😆 so I’m so happy that you found it helpful ❤️
Thank you so much ❤️
I will get onto the time lord video asap.
@@whitewolfmother901 always lots to learn on this path ❤️ (and that’s part of the fun)
I'm deeply in love with your videos, Jessica. Thank you so much for sharing this, I find your videos so inspirationals! Thanks again.✨
Thank you so much Nana 🙏🏻 that means a lot coming from you ❤️
what i like about the bujo is that everything is in one place.
I love that you switch between things to get out of a slump. Thank you, that’s helpful to hear ❤️
I do like to watch junk journal videos and have dabbled in the past and LOVED it, but somehow haven’t continued 🤷♀️
I love what you said about our systems changing and evolving.
Thanks again - new and grateful subscriber here 💕
Hi Sam, welcome ❤️
I’m so glad my video was helpful for you. It’s such a strange and unsettling feeling when our systems stop working for us. I’m glad you’re going to try something new.
The journals I’m using this year are from notebook therapy. They are Tsuki B5 size, with velvet covers.
Awe, you're a Libra rising as well 🩷
I'm a 6th Pisces sun which is where my Venus is, and 5th house Pisces holds my North Node as well as Mercury.
Thank you for your lovely comment ❤️
It sounds like you are finding the style of journaling which works for you and supports you to express yourself and learn more about yourself, which is what it’s all about really.
Your create this book journal sounds magical! 🌟
The moon is on your north node currently so you should get a nice energy boost today/ tomorrow.
This is such a wonderful video. I think you called it a time lord(?), I'm very interested in watching a video about it.
Thank you Sabrina ❤️
I have added a time lord video to my to do list (in Notion 😆).
I love the sound of your plan for 2023 ❤️
Thanks 🥰🥰❤️
Thank you for this comment ❤️
I agree so much with what you said about the necessary imperfection of keeping an analog journal is a huge part of the learning and growth.
@@DieterPrivate thank you so much for your reply. I will go over to Instagram and see what you have there!

I love your setup! I think I'm going to do mine this way. What are the measurements of these ones? They lay flat so nice! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much Karen. I’m currently using the notebook therapy B5 journals. They lay completely flat ❤️
I’ve got lots of plan with me videos on my channel sharing how I actually make the spreads etc if you’re interested.
Thank you ☺️
I loved how you described your life mission.
Thank you Carrie ❤️
It’s the age old dilemma of separate planners for all the things, or one for everything. It sounds like you’ve found what works for you.
I have also moved to Notion, but I miss having a daily planner to write in. I have decided to try to use both.
❤️ it seems that there is a space for both
I did try digital journaling last year!
Thank you so much for this thorough comment Nicole 🙏🏻
There are so many great things about digital journaling, but it seems like, despite this, that lack of the tactile quality makes it less satisfying as a long term option.
@@JessicaandtheMoon the tarot and reading once a week the other everyday! I havea little routine that I follow with them
I think it's important to know what's good for analog and what;s good for digital and your purpose for each. I love how I use my BuJo and still use plenty of digital recording. I see people who track their periods in a BuJo for example and I know that would never work for me. And I have weeks or sometimes months where the time it takes to set up my journal isn't working and I'm still fine with my digital tools.
This is such a good point Lauren, thank you ❤️
I have definitely found that using a digital calendar released so much pressure to have my journal set up and ready at all times, which allows more room and time for play.
This video was so therapeutic ❤️
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Anna ❤️
I found your channel the other day. I enjoyed the peek into your journals. Thank you for sharing; I subscribed. 😊
Thank you so much ☺️ welcome ❤️
But certain elements I have to keep in a book (or several!) 📚
I like having a monthly cover page and calendar and then want to keep the rest more free flowing for thoughts, memories, art, reading journal type book spreads, and the like.
Welcome 🙏🏻
It sounds like we are in similar places with our journaling right now.
For the last few years I’ve been trying to work with everything in one journal (one book to rule them all) but now it seems like my system exploded and I’m piecing it back together again. Like you said, it’s trying things and seeing what works (and what doesn’t) ❤️
How many separate books do you have right now? It seems like I’m heading in that direction but I also don’t want to overcomplicate things and have too many journals 🤪
I love your bujo videos so much, and it was so fascinating to get a look at your process. I'd love to hear more about the timelords and would love to have a video about it. Love all your content!
Thank you so much Dawn 🙏🏻
I’m already making notes for the time lord video ☺️
im migrating to a two planner system with appointments in my phone. starting school with a happy planner dashboard layout, work/life in a bujo and then i have countless sketchbooks and writing journals. i always change it up its ok :)
It’s been so lovely hearing about other people’s systems in the comments of this video. It does help knowing that other people have far more complex systems than mine - but they work. And that’s what’s important. Thank you for sharing ❤️
I adore your written journal. BTW: FROG = faithfully relying on God. I’m glad I found you. Great video.
Thank you Susan 🙏🏻
I'm so thrilled to have stumbled across your channel! I've been feeling somewhat lonely in my journey merely because I couldn't find anyone else "my age" who enjoyed bullet journaling, astrology and moon cycles. It looks like we're only a year or two apart! 🥰 My journaling has also changed a lot over the past year, so this video really resonates with me. But I've been binging allllll your videos and I truly do feel like a kindred! Thank you for sharing yourself with others! 🧡
☺️ thank you. Welcome ❤️
I’m so glad that my videos felt that way for you.
Thank you Eva ❤️
I hope you enjoy using Notion.
Thank you for watching and I hope you continue to enjoy using your bujo in the way that works for you ❤️
Thank you for sharing your journals with us ❤ I love the concept of bullet journaling however I keep my woo woo book/journal seperate from my planner.
❤️ thank you for watching Tici. So do you keep both in physical format? But in separate books?
@@JessicaandtheMoon yes I plan in my goal planner, keep my woo woo book and journal in another. ❤️
I’m glad that you are in a good place now with people who love you ❤️
I don’t normally reply to the evangelical Christian comments I get on my videos because they’re usually pretty hate fuelled, but I made an exception because your comment was actually really sweet.

@@tameramorrison8966 I know my moon is in Sagittarius in the 3rd house. I guess I'm asking about transits.
When the lights go out, candle, pen and paper will again be very important.
Yes, and to leave for future generations who may not have access to digital formats.
Could you please drop a link for the Grimoire e course you were talking about?
Your calendar issues are highly relatable 😆
wow, just inspiring!!!.
Thank you Cara
Yes to the “spiritual altar” ❤

Could you call you new style a Commonplace Book...
There are certainly commonplace book elements, though there are other things which don’t really fit that description… hmmm 🤔 thank you! Something to think about.
Hi, so where did you get your journals from?
Hi, the ones I’ve been using for the last few years are from notebook therapy. They are Tsuki in the B5 size.
