The Mattel wand is fine for what it is, but even then the Spengler neutrona wand is better imo. The reason many people used to attach Matty wands was availability and acheavability. There are more wand kits available now, with a range of aluminium, resin and mixed. It depends on the preference of the builder, which you get. The ability to customise these kits to your liking makes them more preferable to me. If you have a Matty wand and that's what you want to do, more power to you.

Guy on gbfans spongeface makes 3d printed bezels with a water decal lense that fits over the regular gbfans light kit.
