Sadly I was a baby during the Sydney Olympics but one day when I was probably 8 my parents found the Dream video in an op shop and said I would like it. Even though I may have been a bit young to understand some of the jokes, I fell in love with Roy and HG’s hilariously Aussie take on the greatest games and watched the videos repeatedly. Their greatness will continue for generations to come! Just wish I was old enough to enjoy the games as they happened.
I was a toddler (2 years old) during the Sydney Olympics myself and never initially seen it on TV because of that. Then one of my dad's friends had this video on VHS tape around 2011 and I did find the week two tape of this program in an op shop (Vinnies) at 14. I don't have either tape today though. Luckily, the Olympics will be coming to Australia in 2032 and Brisbane will be hosting it by then.
I still remember the sound of my wife laughing in the living room while the very first episode was on. Every olympics that comes by I still think of it and the beginning of a great moment in Australian sporting television. And I missed it because I went to bed!
When I was 13 years old the Olympic Games were taking place in Sydney. It was the first Olympic games that I really remember from my childhood The Dream is funnily enough the thing that I remember the most. Syd, Millie and Dickhead, fatso the fat assed wombat. The tennis pipe of peace. The singing video contest with the winner being “go you good thing go.” I remember so much of the show. We were living in a two storey house at the time and both the upstairs and the downstairs had a television. When my mother thought she had sent us to bedroom upstairs what she didn’t know initially was that I was sneakily turning on the tv upstairs to watch The Dream with the volume down so low that she couldn’t hear it. One night she came upstairs to check on us and I got caught. So she made a deal with me that if I went to bed as I was supposed to that she would record The Dream for me and I could watch it the next day. So that’s exactly what would happen. She would record the episode each night, I would watch it the following day and then it would be recorded over the next night for the newest episode. For my Christmas or birthday present that year I was given the VHS pack of the highlights of The Dream with Roy and HG.
They’re on a show every week called Bludging on the blindside for ABC radio. They’re currently doing a show called People, Cheese and Medals for the Paris Olympics
Eric Moussambani's time of 1:52.72 was remarkable. It was actually seven seconds slower than the time Ian Thorpe recorded to win a silver medal in the 200m freestyle the previous day.
"Here's Rodriguez - she starts with an opening brown eye with the door closed". Crazy date, spinning date, flatbag, battered sav, into a hello boys". I still try to use these terms when and where I can. I think we all should....
Just curious as a Brit Ive only seen odd clips of this show on RUclips but I do love these type of comedy shows. Adam Hills presents a great one for Channel 4 and the paralympics. Does anyone know if these two are doing a TV series for Rio 2016
The crazy thing was this was on at 11pm or midnight every night yet everyone watched it.... Was so good
Living in Perth it was on at 8pm in primetime!
I was late to work every day because I was up watching the Dream, then i was hyped all night 😂😂 best 2 weeks ever in Sydney. 😊
These two hours every evening passed too too quickly, as did the two wonderful weeks back in 2000. Roy and HG added so much joy to our experience.

Who would have thought 20 years later the Olympic Games would be postponed because of an pandemic. Watching this brings back happy memories 😀😂
You're a bloody legend mate.
Mate, fantastic! I've been looking for this for AGES! Only 106 views? People have no idea about this genius. I wish you'd put up Week 2!

Hope the boys return to The Dream in Brisbane at the next Olympics.
1:58:00 'Go you good thing go, put a gap in em': spine tingles, honestly!
I was there in 2000 for swimming, weightlifting and gymnastics. These memories are Gold.
36:00 is the comedic quote of the century. "That was a cup of hot fat with a hair in it!"
That quote drifts into my head every once in a while - each time it does I'm reduced to a laughing mess for a good few minutes
Hoo ray..been looking for the "hello boys" and the "flat-baggers"
The last time tv was worth watching !
Hello boys alright! Especially on Nemov
Thanks for this amazing post and the quality of it .. champagne tv comedy! I still have this on VHS it never gets old

triple m radio Sydney 12-1pm everyday during Olympics
They’re on a show every week called Bludging on the blindside for ABC radio. They’re currently doing a show called People, Cheese and Medals for the Paris Olympics
Omg - I had the privilege to see Roy and HG in Singapore - and this just brings back how hysterically funny and on point they both are!!! Thank you 😂😂
Comedic genius. Laughing every time I see this
Sydney was so magical during this time. I remember walking hand in hand with my love through the streets soaking up the atmosphere.
This is missing from Channel 9's coverage! Can you imagine these 2 in Paris instead of Karl!
week two has been uploaded
Such a highlight during the games. Had to race home from work to be able to just see Roy and HG. Absolute legends! Thx for posting
I forgot about these blokes. Bloody legends

@som fanforever Thanks soooo much for posting this. Forever grateful for your effort!!!!
Cheers for uploading this bro, you’re a true blue Aussie legend mate 👍
You are a champion. I have also been able to find clips until now!
Bring this back for Tokyo!!
OMG 😲 This is still so funny! I'm laughing so hard it hurts. A little advice, never watch this when you have pneumonia! 😢 😃 😀 😄
I still remember little Eric's swim, the crowd went hysterical for him. I was full of pride with a tear in my eye.
LMFAO 😂 Bloody Legends! How good was this to watch at the time?! And shows like i!
1:01:21 “the coach explains the art. Lift it….up!” Lol
These guys were a laugh a minute 😂
Those clips of sports where they just spend the whole time talking absolute shit 😂
God this was awesome. Cant believe it's been 18 years. Now they're gonna try it with Mick Molloy and co. It wont be the same.
Thank you for uploading
Happy 20 years!!! Much simpler times
"Here's Rodriguez - she starts with an opening brown eye with the door closed".

Great to see fatso is alive and well 😊
Can’t wait to see him returned to Roy and HG this weekend
Need those dudes in Brizzy.
Any loyal TSPers here? Triple M Saturdays 10 am-12 pm (there's also a podcast) (but note that they are off the mic until 22 July)
It's great that they were still using the Nissan Cedrics from Club Buggery for this :)
I don't think I've seen a better hands in the air
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE .... upload Week 2!!!!!!!!
If you have anymore of these, please upload, they should do it for every Olympics
Anyone know where you can watch all the original episodes? Thanks

Ah cool. Thanks for the link much appreciated. :)
54:10 LMAO
Well, we got 58 medals, not 123. But it remains the best, most friendly, most terrorist and virus-free Olympics ever.
week 2 is better in my opinion but this is still brilliant
A bit of post urinal leakage going on there!!
new videos of roy and hg calling multiple grand finals over here:
ruclips.net/video/xSikTj0ySiY/видео.html
Can not beat ray and hg
Absolute ratbags, in the best possible way. HELLO BOYS!!
The "post urinal dribble" hahah@
I went to that dressage event. It was hot enough to fry and egg and about as interesting as watching paint dry. 🫠
