I work in the industry for around 15 years and I take many interviews. I would suggest that whether or not companies value your competitive programming rank, you would be better off doing them than not doing them. Performance is an important aspect of software development and it helps to have DS and algorithm skills. Most of the time you would not use these skills. But the 1% of the time you do will affect 50% of the application's performance.

U r wrong.. competitive programming is not for everyone.. The famous line " practice makes man perfect" also fails here.... This is for only those students who are very very very intelligent... Mostly competitive programmers start there journey from age 9-14 ... So how can u expect than someone who start coding in college compete with these people not possible my dear
And one more thing u r right dsa is important but knowing dsa and algorithms and solving normal problems is different than cp

No do not do DSA .. Start learning about the full stack development there are many resources available in the internet ... Do not waste your time in DSA it is just a hype thing .. Make projects contribute to open source etc.
