Thats great that you are turning him loose on the big stuff. I remember the first time I was allowed to try my young self out on a tractor and baler. For a young pup it really makes your day to be given that chance. The biggest one though was the day I was allowed to operate the combine.
What I'm getting is that you are a good manager with a long term vision. You gotta have people familar with the equipment ready to step in and relieve you on short notice. The farm will keep moving with or without you , and that, is a good thing. I can see where you're going.
It's always best to take your time when your learning, and yes STOP!!! the machine before you get close to it. I've known several individuals who lost their lives by not shutting off the machine.
it's nice to have such good kids ,, I've noticed that farm kids seem to be some of the most responsible , hard working and trustworthy kids there are ,, granted i grew up on a farm so i know what the work is like ,,never ending hard work ,, right now i am teaching my sister's 13yr old how to run the tractor ,, I'm trying to get him to be less distracted ,,he got mad at me yesterday because i made him drive the 4020 around in figure 8s for almost 2 hours in an attempt to teach him how to turn using the brakes
your right about farm kids my cousin was a teacher at a vo-tech school and when people came looking to hire they would grab up the farm kids because they knew they would work hard weren't afraid of early hours and just overall had a better work ethic
Jap beatles lay eggs, when they hatch their larvae are grubs, like u hear about in lawns. We use products like Merit( imidaclopirid) and others to put on this time of year to kill the grubs as soon as they hatch. Not sure of per acre cost for that kind of insecticide for Ag use but might be something u check into. I'd be interested in what u find out
I remember as a child my family had little bags that acted as traps for those suckers. Great for lawns and gardens. Probably not gonna cut it for a field. Is there any local wildlife you can get to eat them? Importing a species would become a nightmare, but promoting a specific kind of animal that's already local should be no problem.
+SlocketSeven actually those bags end up attracting more Beatles to your property even though they catch a bunch there's still more there to lay eggs in grass
Named Japanese beetle because at one point it was only native to Japan. Got imported (inadvertently of course) to the US on a ship in NJ of all places back in the late 19th century.
Wes, does that mean that you are no longer "One Lonely Farmer" ??? Between great running equipment and a new GF are you considering changing your channel to "One Happy Farmer" ??? Just giving you the raspberries, glad to see things are going good and it's great to see Cody taking that next step in growing up with your guidance.
i have an 03 bb940ar i wish i could turn some one else loose with it. Too finicky and temperamental. nice looking operation. around here we have too make perfect hay nothing like that. picky picky market here.
Cody will do just fine in that rig. Seat time makes an operator (usually haha). Pretty soon the boys will be telling you to take the day off, they got it. It happened to my old man haha
I was heading out and looked over in the field where I-5 South & Hwy99/70 South just North of Sacramento and what do my eyes spy; no not Dancer or Prancer, Comet, Vixen or Cupid but a Krone baler
thanks for the video today/all your videos wes!! I still don't see the surging from the kroon baler.. the Holland had a surge to it. im sure that's lot less wear n tear on the tracter and your back/neck. DO you have less fatigue at the end of the day wes??
just curious what was the final outcome of the norower 240 I know they took it back but did they fix and resale it, or is it setting at the dealer waiting for nh to decide its fate, or did it end up involving lawyers having Cody running the baler will really help build his confidence and inspire him to be more responsible in the future to keep that trust
Wes, down here in GA we have army worms and cabbage loppers that get in our Bermudag grass. They show up like clockwork after the full moon in July and stay with us until frost. I finished baling my first cut and have our big sprayer on our big tractor and it will probably stay on it until we cut hay. Only cutting twice this year, because we still have lots of last years hay. Back to the army worms, there are lots of products to use, Lannate, mustang maxx, hatchett, nudrin. And now we have a new pest, called the bermudagrass stem maggot. This pest bores into the stem, which stunts the growth and causes a burned appearance to the grass. People have no idea what farming involves, they think its simple, I guess that's why they have plenty of time to go shut down interstates and bitch and whine about .........don't get me started.
When he said who is driving the bailer I guessed Tim and he said no then I was like that has to be his dad then he said it's not dad then I was like dang I suck at this game
I've always been told on these (more on the 30 & R series) that due to the design(up & away bracket) that weight needed to be added on both ends otherwise it takes weight off the back.
+Sid 15 Very rarely a tractor is not pulling something, holding something on the arms so realistically the weights help all the times. Especially baling more so with a fusion baler though when the transfer takes place, or when pulling heavy loads like silage.
They are horrible here, they love grape vines. At peak times I can get inch of them in 5 bags every few hours. The bass and bluegill love them but they are a real pain.
heyhey1956 I dont agree with that though. Their balers and self propelled mowers and those other self propelled maches are good but I dont see alot of mowers for the tractors, also their hayrakes and tedders arent sold much.
"I don't know why they call them Japanese beetles... they don't look Japanese" Wes, what do Japanese looking beetles look like? ; ) I'm sure the Japanese people did not call them "Japanese beetles" but that was the name given to them when they came here from Japan sometime around a hundred years ago. They don't cause much damage to Japanese crops because the beetles have natural predators that keep their numbers down.
You think you hate those f'n beetles, have one fly into your ear and scratch on your eardrum, not good. Went to ER doc said she couldn't get it out, ya gotta go to ENT, couple minutes later that sumbitch crawled out. Since learned to pour any edible oil in and drown it.
Good to see a young kid interested. I started running equipment. When I was ten on my grandfathers farm haven't stopped since. 65 now
That tractor and the baler look sooo good together. Perfect match
Thats great that you are turning him loose on the big stuff.
I remember the first time I was allowed to try my young self out on a tractor and baler.
For a young pup it really makes your day to be given that chance.
The biggest one though was the day I was allowed to operate the combine.
It's great that Cody is given the chance to handle the big equipment. A young man with maturity, will go far if they are given responsibility.
Love the way that baler looks and your discussions about it. Great channel.
Cody is doing a nice job looks like he has a great teacher
love seeing the young guy learning to operate that beautiful machine! 👍
What I'm getting is that you are a good manager with a long term vision. You gotta have people familar with the equipment ready to step in and relieve you on short notice. The farm will keep moving with or without you , and that, is a good thing. I can see where you're going.

That Krone does not leave any loose hay behind. Amazing.
I'm pleased you're having such good luck with the baler. Have your customers made any comments on the increased density of your bales?
im glad to see that you're happy with your krone. I hope we will see more krone baling throughout the season.
Cody running the Krone baler, Wes , Tim can hunt the Japanese beetles right Tim, thanks for sharing Mr Pandy

madfarmer912 dave yes that's about it ,,
Excellent !!only way to learn is get on with it . Talking a good job is easy . Well played .
I have the same problem with those Japanese bottles, I was in the combine and looked in the grain tank and there were beetles crawling in the wheat!
Wes, Tim use to operate the New Holland BB340, how come you haven't got him operating the Krone baler??
up here in Western New York we had a Japanese beetle problem few yes back and it was bad decimated a few hay farms
I'm glad to see the krone is doing a good job for you.
Great video Wes
northeast ny.just got quite bit of rain.neighbors big pack just had big problem.probably operator too fast.soon as find out let ya know

Good Job Cody !!

Why only 93" length on bales? I thought you normally do 96" LOVE YOUR CHANNEL from the left coast near the Crapitol of California
Gene

Wes, that wasn't a GMC in the background was it? Thought you were a Ford guy.
just curious what was the final outcome of the norower 240 I know they took it back but did they fix and resale it, or is it setting at the dealer waiting for nh to decide its fate, or did it end up involving lawyers
having Cody running the baler will really help build his confidence and inspire him to be more responsible in the future to keep that trust
Farmers had large families because they needed the laborers!
I bet u Cody is tickled pink being able to run the beast
Can you spray anything to clear the beetles out of the field?
After collecting the bales, are you going to spray that field to kill the beetle larvae?
Those boys will do just fine, they have a good role model! You have to watch out Wes when they start doing it better than you!
Amazingly good machine.
so wes are you planning to use the combines it would be nice to see them run again
God for you to trust some one else to break your equipment for you. Grin, teasing ya Wes.
With the electronics I would imagine it is almost like a video game.
i cant get over how large the bails are
just a question Wes do u use a tedder because i'v never seen one in any of ur vids
and if u do what type is it
are you going two used the gehl mower this year and if so can you make the video of you use ding it
so wes are you planning to use the combines again

What were you going to say about the bales when the Japanese beetle distracted you?
+onelonleyfarmer do you prefer john dere or international
That's Awesome good dad
They gotta learn sometime.
do you get extra pay from krone every time you say KRONE BALER or was it part of the purchase deal ?
When he said who is driving the bailer I guessed Tim and he said no then I was like that has to be his dad then he said it's not dad then I was like dang I suck at this game
how many people work for you? I see tim, cody, carl, your dad, who am i forgetting?
The hurrier I go, the behinder I get.
why the full front rack of weights. do you need the weight off the back for some reason?
putting weight on the front does not take any weight off the back.. it just puts weight on the front for traction.
Especially baling more so with a fusion baler though when the transfer takes place, or when pulling heavy loads like silage.
that and to hold the front end down
That good for him He needs to learn every thing before he take over the farm
How long have you used the Krone?
Das Krone ist der beast!
new truck?
We need a update on the955 l
the Japanese beetle has eyes of a Japanese. Groeten Peter
just had to spray my garden and grape vines because they was eating my leafs
They are horrible here, they love grape vines. At peak times I can get inch of them in 5 bags every few hours. The bass and bluegill love them but they are a real pain.
nice =D
does Tim ever bail
I heard he made bail after a crazy night of partying.
GERMAN MASTERPIECE
100% correct Krone makes the best hay and harvesting machinery in the world!!
heyhey1956 I dont agree with that though. Their balers and self propelled mowers and those other self propelled maches are good but I dont see alot of mowers for the tractors, also their hayrakes and tedders arent sold much.

They origin from Japan. It is thought the beetle larvae entered the United States in a shipment of iris bulbs prior to 1912.
Pay rate!
Who is Cody?
I believe he is a nephew.
Sasquatch lite.
Can I come ?
y the soot so long
She lives with you ? What will the children think? Luv Asian women, smart, intelligent mannerly
It's a lean mean hay eating machine .
Nice to have the help to free you up for other things. Maybe you'll have some time to stop by and visit the girlfriend😜
she lives with me.. i see her every day.
+onelonleyfarmer I have two young kids and if she is home with out them she loves it when come home for a "quick" lunch break.
You think you hate those f'n beetles, have one fly into your ear and scratch on your eardrum, not good. Went to ER doc said she couldn't get it out, ya gotta go to ENT, couple minutes later that sumbitch crawled out. Since learned to pour any edible oil in and drown it.
