I’m a terrible gift giver. Like to the point where nobody expects presents from me lmao. BUT. My step-mom lost her daughter (only kid) earlier this year. Their thing was dragonflies. I like to think I’m a very artistic person. So I handmade her a resin painting with a 3D dragonfly as the centerpiece. I sincerely hope she likes it. I think she will but I can’t help but be nervous. This is the only present I’m giving this year

She is going to cry with joy and she'll hang it in a very prominent spot. I know, because my mom started sending me dragonflies from heaven the day she crossed over. I cherish them.
K E L L S E Y that’s what she says about her daughter 🥺 I actually gave her a real dragonfly shortly after her daughters passing but unfortunately her dog got a hold of it and destroyed it. So I decided to make her a new dragonfly (that hopefully won’t become dog fodder this time).
My boyfriend used to eat French toast with his dad every Sunday and watch NASCAR together. He would always eat off of this special edition McDonald race car plate. His dad would wash it and he’d pretend to use it as a steering wheel while he kept watching nascar. Over the course of the years the plate got worn down and thrown out eventually when he was about 12. His family went through a devastating time between then and now so any pieces of his childhood he holds onto. I found the exact same plate he had as a kid but in mint condition. That was my gift for him last year. Tears flowed between him and his dad. Best gift I’ve ever given. It pays to listen to people’s stories and take notes throughout the year of things they mention because these are the moments I live for!!!

My boyfriend has lived with diabetes since childhood and he recently had a stroke due to diabetes so the diabetes association is an amazing charity to donate to. We need to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

It does seem people only ever talk about type 2 and obesity. Like you mentioned, type 1 is more deadly and you always have it. I’m definitely going to donate tonight!
my brother was diagnosed with type 1 at age 16, it drastically changed his life style. definitely need to find a cure!
I’ve had type 1 diabetes for nearly 6 years and I’m now 17 and find it very difficult, I’ve got used to it, but it’s very difficult in that I didn’t do anything wrong but constantly feel like I did, even though it’s not due to anything I did, so yeah, would love a cute at some point so no one has to go through what I have :// 💞

One gift that I got for my sister that is more thoughtful than anything is the Hollister perfume in Malaia. The story behind it is that prior to our mom passing away, she bought both of us the Hollister August perfume and my friend stole my sister's and it is no longer produced. Malaia is almost exactly like the perfume my mom bought us so many years ago so I wanted to give my sister that scent again to remember our mom.

The only gift that mattered to me this year was having my Mom. She retired in August and had had 2 major surgeries. All turned out well so I have all I need.

A charity I love are the Ronald McDonald houses! They give so much support and a place to stay so families with sick children have one less thing to worry about! Rooms are by donation up to $25 a night so compared to having to stay at hotels while your child gets care is a huge savings!
I agree. This would be a great choice for donations. Both of my sister in laws children were born premature and had problems and had to stay in a children's hospital over 2 hours from where we live. It was really hard on them driving over 4 hours a day to be with my nephews so they eventually looked into Ronalf McDonald House.

Make A Wish is an incredible organization! My son got a Wish-- we went to Germany this past summer! It has made such a difference in his outlook for the future. I do believe they have chapters throughout the world.

You should consider the Ronald McDonald House for your next donation! They give children with cancer a place to stay while receiving treatments a place to stay if their families can’t afford hotels and meals! They have locations all over the world including the US and Canada! 💕

My middle son was born 7 weeks early and was kept in the Red Deer, Alberta NICU and since we didn’t live there, we were allowed to stay there with our oldest and it was so close to the hospital. 🥰
They give anyone who is being seen by a clinic with no other place to stay. I stayed for 3 day when they were really trying to figure out what was wrong with me and it was so wonderful the way they treat you like family is inedible. I’m so thankful for them
Darcey Dakota same, my brother was born 3 months early and they offered us a house near the hospital since we were 1 hour to 45 minutes away. We didn’t take it because I was still in school but we always donate.

JDRF would be amazing and has been a major support for my family. My brother ( aged 7) was recently diagnosed with TYPE 1 diabetes ( there’s a difference between type 2) and it’s not got a cure so this would be put to helping make a cure and my brothers life better! Love you Mia xxxx

Coming from a lymphoma survivor 💜, the leukemia and lymphoma society is a great organization that finds cures for these blood cancers. They are the people who found the cure to MY cancer 💜💜 they also support patients in anyway they can.

When I was young my mom had a blood disorder. She spent a lot of time in the hospital getting blood transfusions with leukemia and lymphoma patients and learned about LLS it’s been almost 10 years we’ve been volunteering at their fundraising events. Over the years I’ve been able to see and hear the amazing things they’ve done for patients. They are incredibly supportive and an amazing society of people!

I would love if the Parkinson’s Foundation would be considered for a donation. My mom has been living with this awful disease for around 6 years now and it’s slowly taking her life. It’s an absolutely horrible disease and not too many people understand how bad it is. I can only hope a cure is found to help others who are diagnosed in the future.

HEY MIA so I’m also a fellow Canadian over in Newfoundland, my daughter had to have heart surgery last Christmas when she was only 4 months old and I couldn’t have done it without the Ronald MacDonald house ❤️ so that would be a charity I would love money to go towards! Also for family presents this year I got my dad a new 40in TV because he currently is using my SMALL 24in TV in his living room and the poor old guy doesn’t have the best sight!

For charity, I’ll recommend Footprints 4 Autism. It’s a wonderful yet a very poor charity. I worked with them for a school project. It was so heart touching to see how they are fighting everyday to keep their charity alive and help the children and families with autism. We all tend to make jokes and say “she’s autistic”, “you’re autistic”, or other comments about autism without even knowing what autism is. Sadly I was unable to win them some money 😩.
As for gifts, I got my mom a cute lunch box (she is a nurse. She is always carrying a bunch of boxes with her or is always rushing and packs her food in the nearest box we can find. Now she’ll have a proper one), a foot caring kit (she likes to take care of her feet), a side bag, and samples of 4 perfumes. For my dad, I got him a thing that he can put in his office which can hold and charge his phone, a bodycare kit, wallet (his is worn out), and a picture frame of his and mine picture from my graduation (that day he was really proud). For my sister, I got her a hair straightener (hers broke), lulumeon pants (she accidentally burnt hers), a little makeup kit, and lenses she can use on her phone (she loves photography). For my brother, I got him a beard kit (he loves his beard), a hair trimmer (he’ll use it now that he is not home and lives away), and lenses he can use on his phone to click pictures (he loves photography). For my friends I got them brackets with the first letter of their name on the bracket. For my secret Santa, I got him a wallet (he lost his) and a bow tie (whenever he is dressed formal, I see him wearing a bow tie).
Not trying to brag that I got my friends and family so many gifts, it’s just that if someone is reading this comment, it might give them ideas, I mostly shopped from wish so it wasn’t expensive, and I will be missing events like my parents birthdays, my brother’s birthday, and other special events are lined up as well so I got gifts for all that together.
Being Canadian (eh), donating to Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital or Hamilton's McMaster Children's hospital are great places that are always in need. Thank you for being generous! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
We had so much fun choosing a gift for my mom-in-love who’s been such a blessing to us helping take care of us when I was super nauseated in early pregnancy. She needed a new watch, so we actually ordered an incredible Soviet Era antique watch that’s been refurbished - it’s seriously the most beautiful watch I’ve ever seen and I’m soooo excited for her to get it! She deserves to be spoiled 😘 we can hardly wait to give it to her!! You’re such a thoughtful gift giver Mia, you’re love language is totally gift giving. Pit bulls and paroles is one of my favorites. It's not a charity but they run off donations. The woman Tia hires strictly parolees because they have a such a hard time finding jobs. And her and her children and their families save a bunch of animals like cats and dogs. They mainly specialize in pitbulls because there's a lot of negative stigma around them. They save them and adopt them out to families. They're located in the United States though.

I made my mum a self care box of things like bath bombs, lush products, a candle, face masks, etc. bc she’s been telling me that she needs to start having time for herself and I want her to have an excuse to chill out

My mom loves doing crafts and shes always wanted a Volkswagen bus so I got her a big diamond painting with a VW bus on it. I figured she'd have fun doing it and then when shes done they can hang it in their garage because they have it decorated in vintage signs and VW memorabilia.

My bf's mom passed away a few months ago. The other day him and his brother were talking about the gifts their mom used to get them for Christmas and so I did a little shopping online and found them. I got my younger brother a holiday box from Matter, a sciencey subscription box type of thing. We celebrated Christmas early this year because my father is going to be out of town. But he looooved it and everyone was super into it and checking everything out. It was a little pricier ($70 US) but well worth it, honestly.
But for the most part, I try to get "experiences" for people. Something we can do together or they can go do. Like, passes to a place I know they will like or taking them on a cool boat tour somewhere or a spa day. Things that will create memories. Most of my family and friends are the kind of people that just have what they need or buy what they need right away so it's hard to find them a practical gift they will actually want or use.
This year I’ve got my partner cufflinks with his fathers ashes in them. His dad died 12 years ago now. I hope he wears them on our wedding day 💓

One of the ladies I work with is a single mom, full time nursing student and has a full time job. She is always on the go and forgets stuff. I filled a book bag with all kinds of things from snacks, water to hair ties and a brush. I made tags “emergency preparedness kit” to keep in her car.
