I readed that Shiva tested him, but for me a true Master in any discipline, speaking as what i learned as artist, is the one who gives you deep knowledge about your discipline, makes you in the process able to correct your own mistakes and expert or master on it. The word disciple has also a very different dimension. However im not a scholar, as it happens many interpretations and points of view can happen. Im not here to discuss that kind of things. A blessing is fast done, astras normally could be called by mantras…but even if He teached how to use it, i would not call that being a disiciple on martial arts…. Regarding what he teached him exactly, the time, and the specific thing that he gave him, a divine weapon, just because of what i said in first answer… but if for yourself in your heart is a disciple of martial arts im nobody to tell you, everyone is free within their hearts… it should be like that and its something very beautiful in hinduism once you realize it
