I was a member of a Baptist Church that went "All Comtemporary with drums, guitars and various other instruments . I did not like it but stayed put until, I was offered a job of Music Minister at another Baptist church where they had a piano, and an organ and sing out of the hymnal. I almost cried when I was offered the position and found out what they were looking for. And of course I took the position...
Sad thing is, so many of the Baptist Churches has these large instruments, but do not even use them for any services. Mostly just for weddings and funerals. Just like the First Baptist Church here in Orlando. They played their organ once in a service, in 2014, just to remind people they have a organ, and the lady played one two minute movement. I find it ridiculous and a waist to use such a organ so little and the cost of a yearly organ contract just to play it such a few times. On the baptist organ, i am sure the organ contract is around $15,000+ a year.
Eric Stuart+ I saw some of their other videos, and they are all worship and praise, so im guessing their services are mostly worship and praise, just like the local First Baptist of Orlando. Their organ basically is used by request for weddings and funerals. Members have said, they never play the organ, except for maybe one service and that is it, and they consider themselves lucky to have it. Lucky? I do not see it lucky because it is a waist of such wonderful organs a waist hardly never playing them, even though they maintain them well, but pipe organs are built to be used, NOT collecting dust, and that is what damages them more by not playing them much. Pipe organs are built with high quality to be used every day, several hours a day even. Just so you know.... traditional churches, when the choir sings, a organ solo, bell choir plays, that is also entertainment, but in God's music. Now I am very traditional, I am a master organist and a minister, and i can not sing worship and praise music and Gospel, and seeing people dancing in the isles at times, nor will I ever work for a church who does, because it is not my style, but I will NOT say it is not worship. Times change, and if it takes a different style of christian music to get people to go to church, then that is what is more important. Just like youth groups. If it takes christian rock and christian rap music for kids to enjoy christian music that is Biblical, then that IS FAR BETTER then them listening to real rock and rap that puts them in the streets, now isn't it? I would rather see them singing Christian Rock and Christian Rap, because that will NOT put them in the streets and it does NOT per mote drugs and crime like regular rock and rap does. Just because it is not your style, does not make it less worship. But I am against any church, that acts like they are better then others. That is a sin, because Jesus said " The most important commandment is, love yourself, as you love others". Jesus also says " he may cast the first stone, if he himself is free of sin. I find Many Churches including most Baptist churches always throwing the first stones against people that are different, but they them self do not live sin free.
If I attended any church that had invested a million or more dollars of the congregation's offerings to have a pipe organ installed.....and they stopped using it in favor of the insipid, stupid "praise" form of music.........I would FIRST protest and urge others to do so.......and if that was of no remedy, I would let my feet do the walking.......out front door. Church members today have absolutely no appreciation for the beauty and the majesty of the pipe organ well played. It appears as if that era has come and GONE.
This is the last I checked it's one of the top 19 biggest organs around. They still play it every sunday, but unfortunately the band and praise team are heavily miked so the organ is often drowned out during TV broadcasts. The choir would sound so much better with just the organ or piano. Too much band/orchestra seems to cover up all the little nuaces heard in the music in my opinion.

Magnificent performance and beautiful arrangement of a sturdy old classic. Even via the limited pathways of You Tube, it still shakes the rafters.
James Arrington is a Mississippi treasure. ❤️

Is this church into the praise band form of worship? Its entertainment not worship!

An organ makes a church service full and complete, a truly beautiful instrument.
